I had somebody do that to me in one of my games. I let him rage for a little while, then sent a copy of one of his more, shall we say, vitriolic? messages to one of my enemies, England. I said "hey, look how much this guy hates me. Can we ally so that I can go deal with it?" He said yes. We drew up disentanglement plans and whatnot... then I promptly stabbed England. I'm pretty sure he was taken _completely_ by surprise.

It was epic.


The moral of this story is: Use everything you get to your own advantage.

I'm being an arrogant, conceited prick in a game as Turkey to keep England focused on me (he's gotten big and is working with France) so my allies acn take him out from the north when he isn't paying attention. He keeps throwing everything at me because he is pissed and he is leaving himself exposed from the north. It's a valid strategy.

I've seen people act like a prick... but I've also seen someone use racial slurs. The first is a 'deal with it how you deem best' situation... the latter I'd talk with a mod about...

Racial slurs and hate speech I would agree are NOT acceptable and are cause for banning. However, the mods don't have a way right now of seeing chat without getting the ofended's (i.e. the plaintiff) ID and password and logging in as them.

Why are racial slurs worse than other forms of personal abuse?

And how would someone know your race anyway?

@Korimyr: I think the argument would be that, for one, they're a little too close to hate speech, which is illegal in many countries.

For what it's worth, I think that pretty much anything short of cheating should be allowed in-game. I mean, this person knows pretty much nothing about you; why take anything personally?

That's my view as well. Whilst I disapprove of anyone being rude ingame, that doesn't mean its unfair.

Stupid people should not be banned but made fun of. It's fun, it's satisfying, it's a good cause :)

Well clearly he's just bitter about losing. Just move past it. Sore losers will sometimes try this to claim the smallest of victories and massage their worthless egos.

Okay, I have a question. I join a new game and wait for it to fill. I notice the next person to sign on for the game is none other than good ol' Larry of Arabia.

From reading the forum posts I know that Larry is mean, nasty, and will probably say horrible things about me, my parents plus my dog AND will also ridicule the fact that I like Broadway show tunes.

Being a sensitive fellow I wish to avoid all that harmful drama and text abuse. So...how do I leave a game I've commited to without having it on my record that I've left a game?

And if that isn't possible, why should you have to commit to a game that may take a month or more to finish, all the while being irritated beyond belief by some immature douchebag?

A nice feature would be a personal blacklist where you could auto unjoin a game the moment someone on your personal blacklist joined it.

Of course, it means people like larry of arabia would never get in a game again...

A personal blacklist may not be a bad idea. If larry really enjoys playing the game he might even decide that growing up isn't so hard after all.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. It was just an observation. Of course, if he never got in a game again, he'd never be able to prove he had grown up unless he became a multi, which would prove he hadn't really grown up... Sort of a catch-22 there.

Well, I think you should all move on and play him anyway. LoA Might not be that bad, you don't know. Being rude is a valid diplomatic strategy, and if you don't like it you can always use it to start an alliance against the player

I had actually had talks with him during the game, and was trying to get an alliance set up for later. I am France, he Austria. Italy stabbed him, and he started saying those things to me. Now that he's down to one SC, he had made the second comment

If you have a problem with someone deal with it. Ignore him, insult him back, etc. What do you do if you bump into someone you don't like onthe street - run to the cops? :)
