Orders not being registered properly?
Does this happen often? I support an area only to have that support not registered, so it's taken. I've also entered orders once only to have the game "hold" all of my units. Does this happen to often? If so, does this irk anyone else?

The Forum
Is it me or is the forum kind of slow. I mean there hasn't been a huge 6 posts in 10 seconds topic lately. Maybe I'm insane. And I believe the Ameican Ecomony is at its peak in History.

Quick Question for a mod
Is there a limit on the number of responses that can be posted on a single thread? If there is, I would think that "The Diplomacy People-Who-Are-Awesome Awesome-Off" would be approaching it.

so if cheyney and rumsfeld and o'reiley and rupert murdoch all got together they could make historys greatest nation?
Invictus (240 D)

They're not real conservatives. Neocons are just statists who don't like welfare.
Sicarius (673 D)

well at least we can agree on that.

so why dont you tell me about the perfect government
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
still think 9/11 was the day when criminal elements of our own government orchaestrated a false flag terror attack to further thier agenda, good to know that they're not the ones you support

Invictus,
1) Real conservatives must be a pretty small group considering how much the conservative establishment fell into lock-step behind Bush. Where were these real conservatives during Bush's administration?
2) Name a real conservative or two for me please. Particularly useful if you can name one who's ideas have been put into practice in a nation - and those ideas turned out successfully.

some redneck told me today america was founded as a christian nation. I laughed so hard I quite literally cried. I couldnt even reply.

what a ridiculous asserment. but he also said "if english was good enough for jesus, it's good enough for me" so I shouldnt have been too surprised

I <3 neo-cons. I watched a high school student beat the shit out of bill O'reiley on his own show.

"Real" conservatives are an endangered species. That is, the conservatives who are constitutiionalists and pretty much libertarian.

I find it ironic that hippy anarchists and redneck libertarians agree, more than you'd expect from their mutual disdain, on many of the same economic principles.

A broken watch is right twice a day.

There is also the issue of being correct vs being right, not to mention the concept of time constraints within proposed predictions.
Friendly Sword (636 D)

Friendly Sword predicts the following (and doesn't restrict himself to the pettiness of definite timeframes);

- President Obama will leave office sometime between four and eight years from now.

- Popularly elected Government all over the world will fall sometime in the future because they become less popular!!

- The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver, and not Ahmadabad.

- Sioraf will post something dumb on the forum, get mercilessly made fun of, and get all upset about it.

- Edi Birsan will say something about the virtue of using your real name online.

I don't see anything remarkable here. Iceland economy's has gone down the drain; the current government has been held responsible by the electorate. That's how democracy works and it happens all the time.
Sicarius have you ever heard of confirmation bias? This is a natural tendency of people to only take notice of evidence which supports a theory rather than evidence which denies a theory. It is important to actively counter this effect by challenging ones own beliefs occasionally. It seems to me every time you find something which confirms your beliefs you grab it with both hands and completely disregard anything to the contrary. I suggest a more skeptical approach will be more enlightening in the long run.
I don't deny that sometimes of your ideas are interesting. (And hey, conspiracy theories have made books into bestsellers, and movies into blockbusters) - but a little more critical thinking would enhance your arguments. For example, I have noticed that when someone comes up in this forum comes up with a good counter argument to one of your posts you often just ignore it. That's how it seems to me (sometimes).

@Sicarus: "but he also said "if english was good enough for jesus, it's good enough for me""

Now that's some funny stuff right there! That's even funnier than people who think Jesus was white and Christian.
In America, periodically you will get a knock on your door from some nice young men dressed in nice suits that want to tell you about the Book of Mormon (at least I think its Mormons, its been a while since they knocked) and ask you your views about God and Jesus.

When I was young, they came to my parents house and asked her what she thought about Jesus. She said 'He was a good little Jewish boy gone bad.'

They never returned.
SirBayer (480 D)

Last time I checked, we don't ask what people want to know about Jesus, but rather if they want to hear glad tidings. I think.
SirBayer (480 D)

Hmm. I also wish to apologize for making a statement about procedure, since it really wasn't all that important.

On the other hand, this whole thread looks "really not all that important". <shrug>

Sicarius, you'd be taken more seriously if you did not exaggerate everything - "hundreds of thousand protesting"?

The current population of Iceland is only 304,000 and the government has an approval rating of 24% so at most 230,000 or so might protest. Did all of them come out in the streets?

The biggest reliable crowd estimates I've seen are 3,000 or so. Metropolitan Reykjavik is over 200,000, so roughtly 1 in 150 of the city came out. That is comparable to a protest of 10,000 or so in Washington DC. Those happen all the time with no effect what-so-ever.

In this case, the protests are an effect, not a cause.
Invictus (240 D)
27 Jan 09 UTC
Policies don't change because of protests. They change because of realities.
Darwyn (1601 D)

Tell that to Louis XVI, Invictus.
Centurian (3257 D)
27 Jan 09 UTC
The reality for Louis XVI is that protest stormed his palace.
philcore (317 D(S))
27 Jan 09 UTC
Having to look back 200 years to find a counter example doesn't exactly disprove the point that Invictus was making.

Most of the time protests are ineffective at changing anything. Organized protests over and over can effect change though, as it did in the states regarding segragation laws.

Unpause game please.
The game was paused due to a player getting banned. All players have unpaused the game except for one. However that player has not been on in a extended period of time and out of his five games three he lost, one in CD, and one paused. Its almost been a week since he had last been on and some of the other players would like to get the game moving.

I posted a question about where I could find transcripts from negotiations in older games (maybe play-by-mail or something). The thread got displaced before I checked in again, so... anybody know anything about that?

With the various computer code people here I wonder if you could scan all the posts and
advise how many different people post and who posts how many?
