Orders not being registered properly?
Does this happen often? I support an area only to have that support not registered, so it's taken. I've also entered orders once only to have the game "hold" all of my units. Does this happen to often? If so, does this irk anyone else?

I'm so drunk...
...I can't claim any responsibility for my turns tonight/this morning/whatever. 3 beers, a vodka martini, a wild turkey, and a glenfiddich 12 year old scotch. So everyone forgive my really fucking stupid moves. OK?

The Forum
Is it me or is the forum kind of slow. I mean there hasn't been a huge 6 posts in 10 seconds topic lately. Maybe I'm insane. And I believe the Ameican Ecomony is at its peak in History.

Quick Question for a mod
Is there a limit on the number of responses that can be posted on a single thread? If there is, I would think that "The Diplomacy People-Who-Are-Awesome Awesome-Off" would be approaching it.

Common courtesy
Since someone brought it up, what is considered common courtesy in the game? Ethics that are required? What is/are considered rude?

What's considered pointless, if you want to be philosophical about it?

=============================================
The forum isn't the game. :0
Rude is NMRing, impersonating the GM, staying mad about a past stab and being out to get the stabber in a later game as a result and in my opinion the Dean of All Mean is a stab in Spring 1901.

Spring 1901 stabs are not usually game-winning and therefore do not gain my vote for great plays.

What is mean in this game? The only time I have seriously objected to anyone else's play was when we encountered a case of apparent cheating between two players and the other five agreed to wipe them out. This was a longish time ago and we did not have mods or pauses etc...

As far as I was concerned, this agreement was sacred because it concerned the integrity of the game. Unfortunately, owing to the proximity of one player to the cheats, he had to be asked to take the lion's share of the clean-up moves which also left him greatly exposed. Sure enough, just as we were about to rid ourselves of the pests, one of the five stabbed and went on to take the game. Not a win I would have been proud of.

I stated then that I would never voluntarily play with said player again, and I was not the only one to say the same. I have kept that promise as I will until the site freezes over etc...

I don't think there's anything like an etiquette that is commonly shared - most people talk as in daily life, some people have standard opening lines/signitures.

What I usually do (though I think Edi once wrote something more detailed?) is:
1. Say hello to everyone in the beginning
2. Keep in touch with everyone (don't spam, but there's always something relevant to ask/comment)
3. Try to not take it personal (e.g. think what would the President of France do to save his country, not what you'd do if you get your hands on the Italian prick :)

I consider it proper ettiquette to help me win if you play in a game with me :P

Some players believe acting irrationally is improper. For example if you are second place in a WTA game and you refuse to stab your ally who is about to win it might upset the other players. Going out of your way to eliminate someone for non-strategic reasons is also bad form. I'm thinking of a scenario where you are holding off on taking 18 just to see someone get a defeat, etc.

So, my refusal to draw with a couple of others until the fourth nation (who w agreed to destroy first) actually had a line through it was bad form? He was such a poor player that he didn't deserve to get any points or a draw out of the game...
xcurlyxfries (0 DX)

Nah, thats acceptable I suppose since it gets you an extra part of the pie
"3. Try to not take it personal (e.g. think what would the President of France do to save his country, not what you'd do if you get your hands on the Italian prick :)"

Far too often this is not observed. The desire for revenge in strong. 'Since I can't win, I'm going to make sure you don't win either.' I'd rather do what I can to try to preserve my little empire in hopes that my besieger gets attacked himself, or even misses a turn.

(Though I must admit I've gone suicidal too, though I'm not proud.)

I think that making sure they don't win isn't taking ti personally.

Now for say you got screwed over by an ally in one of your first games, and then made sure everyother game the person who screwed you got screwed. Thats taking it personally and is wrong wrong wrong and should not be tolerated.

But if your about to die and your enemy is at your door step I am all for supporting your ally into your SC's. Thats why they are called alliances.

If you want to punsih someone in a game because they stabbed you then this is Ok (in my opinion) even if that means working with others against the player. This may even earn you a Survived and if done correct the player you are helping may let you have enough SCs to score points.

What isnt is then taking it out on the same player in another game - he may not stab you this time.

Just to clarify. I'm the one who brought it up. I consider it rude to demand a person hurry up and enter moves when they just logged on that evening after a long day. I'm soo sorry this isn't moving fast enough for you. But, we all get as much time as the game allots. So deal. Such an expression to another player would be considered rude in the real world.
A good stab can be a joy to behold, especially when you see it coming and the stabee doesn't. But even when you're the victim you can admire the technique. And you can (and should) learn from it. Your own skill level increases when you're successfully stabbed.

I never carry a grudge over to another game (though there's one player I don't want to play with again, but that's simply because he keeps whingeing and whining on the IM, not because of a stab or anything).

Points for second place in a WTA?
I had zero points before the game ended and now I have 42. Just curious about how that works. Shouldn't I be back to 100?

Unpause game please.
The game was paused due to a player getting banned. All players have unpaused the game except for one. However that player has not been on in a extended period of time and out of his five games three he lost, one in CD, and one paused. Its almost been a week since he had last been on and some of the other players would like to get the game moving.

Sorry, one more time: negotiation transcripts?
I posted a question about where I could find transcripts from negotiations in older games (maybe play-by-mail or something). The thread got displaced before I checked in again, so... anybody know anything about that?

it gives me the option to create more than one fleet at St Petersburg in one move -- one in North Coast and one in South Coast? Is this a valid move? I just want to make sure that system will process this move right . . .

Count the Forum commentators?
Some forums/sites have a record kept and displayed of forum users and their posts.
With the various computer code people here I wonder if you could scan all the posts and
advise how many different people post and who posts how many?
