In the distant past you would have got 100 back, but the rules were changed as people exploited this by joining 95pt games, then loosing a 5pt game very quickly and thus getting all 100 back, giving a total of 195.

I recently lost a game while having zero points. At what point do I get my points back? (the game still shows in my current game list - even though my name is crossed out - and has been for a season). Also - the buy-in was 101 points... does this mean that I'll get 101 back, won't get any of it, or that I'll get 100?

no I don't care to be a mod, the ones we have do a great job - I've just wondered the same thing before so I looked at the code at some point to see what was going on.

@Dexter - the three active games you still have going on total well over 100 points. The calculation takes into account the total bets of all of your surviving games. So when I answered the original question, saying he had a total of 58 points in his 3 other games, for you that total is over 100 points. You are involved in a few games that had a substantial buy in from the looks of it.

Dexter - the points are returned when the game finishes, not when you are eliminated. The reason for this is that if players got refunded as soon as they died there would be an incentive to suicide your nation once in trouble.

I think games are returned when you are eliminated. Philcore's explanation as to why he didn't get points back makes much more sense.

figle - not true according to the code. defeated members get their points back once they are marked defeated. See game.php CheckMembers() which gets called after each phase, it calls Member->setDefeated() which in turn calls addWinnings(), which is where the refund - if needed - occurs

I definitely had points back on defeat and not after game completion.

Dexter - your "problem" is that your current bets in you other games are in excess of 100 points. You are in a few high buy in games. "Pinin for Fjords" looks like it was an 80 point buy-in, and MMIX looks like it could have been a 50 or 60 point buy in, although there have obviously been CDs in that one because the pot isn't divisable by 7. The Rotsam looks like a 15 point buy-in. So your current bets are somewhere between 145 and 155.

The game is moved from your active games to your finished games once it is determined to be over, either by a draw, a win, or in a rare case (but still in the code) a non-win where the remaining players all CD at the same time.

Yes, the last one doesn't happen any more, but it really used to. I have a few cancelled games back from Christmas 06, because everyone went away for the holiday and didn't go on the computers. However, with pauses, variable phases and before that appeals to Kestas for games to be extended, this hasn't happened in quite some time!
