I've tried unfinalizing and re-finalizing... hoping to kick-start it to no avail.

Rules on swearing etc
Do not make posts which aim to offend people, or constantly use swear words. All it does is annoy people, and force me to spend my time cleaning the forum.

Please use some common sense, I shouldn't have to enforce the rules when they're just basic courtesy.

New 200-point game: The O in Obama
Only four people wanted to play a game named after the subprime meltdown. So let's play a game named after a promising American diplomat: Barack Obama. When I say "Hey," you shall not say "O." I welcome Obama fans, Clinton supporters, Republicans, uppity for'ners and pretty much everyone except Ron Paul.

obama,Mc cain, huckabee?, clinton, rudy and all the other candidates sit down for a game of diplomacy. who wins?
ill do rudy
rudy loses from the start, ignores small orange indie states and goes as germany goes for taking out paris and vienna in the first year. gets crushed when he doesnt get any builds at all in 1901 autumn.

ok one candidate per person per post to show their styles

Hillary plays Russia.

Everyone gangs up on her.

Why do you not welcome Ron Paul fans?

clinton then sheds crocodile tears to earn sympathy and get a small break which she uses to take Bohemia. a small liberal progressive north European area. after taking bohemia she subsequently loses the next 11 battles.
Tucobenedicto (100 D)
03 Mar 08 UTC
Ha, that's right, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California were all "small liberal progressive" states.

In any event, Mike Gravel plays England horribly and never makes landfall on the continent, he stubbornly continues to fight and refuses to cede his territories to more powerful opponents.

nader joins late, plays as the swiss. only after the game ends he realizes he was never in the game and should have stayed at home that night

And then Obama , as Russia, after bouncing Sweden and Rumania in the first year, grows to 10 units by the end of 1903.

the Old prince of the Austro Hungarian Empire Mc Cain, despised by his own subjects easily beats the italian pope Huckabee who ordered his roman army to tunis on the belief that his troops could walk on water and the venice army into swiss because " faith knows no boundaries". The fleet stayed in the port because as everyone knows most conservative reactionary figures have a thing for dressing up in their moms frocks and and hanging out with sailors.

Darwyn, I'm fine with the fans, just not Ron Paul himself -- how will we get anything done when he's telling us all to stay home?

Why not allow civil disorder and hold up the game for others if you are not going to take part?
In this game. http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=3047

England have done nothing since the first couple of moves, but just hold units and wait until the timer is about to run out and then click back into the game, preventing England going into civil disorder and thus delaying the game significantly.

Can anything be done to deal with this unsportsmanlike conduct?

World war 1- honor! has 2 CD's
Above game has 2 coutries germany and austria in CD.

Unless we find 2 players fast this game becomes useless.
appeal to russia/uk/france/italy to wait till then or call it a draw.

Oh and BTW no marks for guessing who is Turkey.

Any way to see everyone's orders?
I don't see a way in the interface to see what everyone ordered (and how that played out), only the "before and after" of the map. Is there such a thing?

Forum troubles
I'll be brief because I've written this before:
- A user was spamming obscene posts after being warned
- While deleting the second post I accidentally deleted all the replies to existing topics
- Dreamhost's automatic backup system didn't work, so I needed to mail them to ask them to do the backup manually
- Meanwhile I banned the spammer, and his 4 alternate accounts
- When the backup finally appeared the existing forum table was deleted for some unknown reason, and instead of merging the rows which I deleted into the current table I needed to move the old backup table into place.
- What this means is: Some posts and replies have been removed, sorry about that, but one multi-accounter and spammer is out of the way.

Locked Teams Game
I'm thinking of starting an Honor-teams game with different teams than the WWI games.

Say a Napoleonic Wars game - where the teams are France/Austria/Turkey against England/Italy/Russia with Germany as the mercenary power.

Who would be up for it? Are there any ideas as to changes that should be made?

When does a game complete?
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2913

Turkey should have wrapped up the game ages ago, and had the opportunity of taking Napes, Rome, Munich and Berlin for a few rounds already. Instead, it spares Italy and Germany, which seem to also have a pact (since they know each other).

Why would anyone do that?

Napoleonic Honour CD
Kickboxer has just cd'd after being banned for multi-accounting.

As it is, we need someone to take his place as soon as possible. We have hardly started so you just need to get yourself up to speed.
