Rules on swearing etc
Do not make posts which aim to offend people, or constantly use swear words. All it does is annoy people, and force me to spend my time cleaning the forum.

Please use some common sense, I shouldn't have to enforce the rules when they're just basic courtesy.

New 200-point game: The O in Obama
Only four people wanted to play a game named after the subprime meltdown. So let's play a game named after a promising American diplomat: Barack Obama. When I say "Hey," you shall not say "O." I welcome Obama fans, Clinton supporters, Republicans, uppity for'ners and pretty much everyone except Ron Paul.

Why not allow civil disorder and hold up the game for others if you are not going to take part?
In this game. http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=3047

England have done nothing since the first couple of moves, but just hold units and wait until the timer is about to run out and then click back into the game, preventing England going into civil disorder and thus delaying the game significantly.

Can anything be done to deal with this unsportsmanlike conduct?

World war 1- honor! has 2 CD's
Above game has 2 coutries germany and austria in CD.

Unless we find 2 players fast this game becomes useless.
appeal to russia/uk/france/italy to wait till then or call it a draw.

Oh and BTW no marks for guessing who is Turkey.

Any way to see everyone's orders?
I don't see a way in the interface to see what everyone ordered (and how that played out), only the "before and after" of the map. Is there such a thing?

Forum troubles
I'll be brief because I've written this before:
- A user was spamming obscene posts after being warned
- While deleting the second post I accidentally deleted all the replies to existing topics
- Dreamhost's automatic backup system didn't work, so I needed to mail them to ask them to do the backup manually
- Meanwhile I banned the spammer, and his 4 alternate accounts
- When the backup finally appeared the existing forum table was deleted for some unknown reason, and instead of merging the rows which I deleted into the current table I needed to move the old backup table into place.
- What this means is: Some posts and replies have been removed, sorry about that, but one multi-accounter and spammer is out of the way.

Locked Teams Game
I'm thinking of starting an Honor-teams game with different teams than the WWI games.

Say a Napoleonic Wars game - where the teams are France/Austria/Turkey against England/Italy/Russia with Germany as the mercenary power.

Who would be up for it? Are there any ideas as to changes that should be made?
bajeezus (574 D)

Doesn't it just seem like Germany would be just territory to divide up on either side. I mean, as much as I like the idea, it seems more productive just to take over Germany ASAP and gain an advantage in units... maybe not, I'd be interested in trying, though, sure!

If you were doing Napoleonic wars then surely it would be France against everyone else? Germany/Prussia was on the side of England in the Nap wars :D

well if you want to be pedantic then perhaps world war one could be based on italy austria and germany, as it was originally... Called the central alliance. Especially given this game starts in 1901 rather than 1914 by which time italy dropped out and turkey took its place. Really... Why nit pick? Guess you wont be in the game, not one i will join.:-)

I created the game - its called Napoleonic Honour and the password is 'wellington'. You need to cough up 40 points to join, enjoy.

The game can be found in my profile or by following this link 'http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=3110'

fwancophile (164 D)

yes i should hope so. france, austria & turkey vs. england, russia & italy with germany as a mercenary.

now, can germany switch sides, or must it maintain its chosen allies?
Davetroll (100 D)

fully up for it, but I can't join
Oxygen (575 D)

If anything... It should be France, Italy and Turkey on one side... and England, Russia and Germany on the other... with Austria as a mercenary.
bajeezus (574 D)
29 Feb 08 UTC
Tad late to argue a new position. It's set so there's no confusion:

France/Austria/Turkey

vs

England/Italy/Russia

(Germany is mercenary power)

One more joins and we're good to go. Anyone???
Sirither (100 D)
29 Feb 08 UTC
Well, since I'm Germany, I'd like some clarification... What requirements do I have? Do I have to declare myself at the beginning of the game and stay with whatever team throughout the game? Or do I declare myself every turn, every year, or every five years? And how is this set up to ensure that I aid my declared side, if I am able to switch?
Brutorix (100 D)
29 Feb 08 UTC
You don't need to do anything, you can fight on either side or against both sides at the same time if you wish.

You aren't required to declare your side if you don't want to.

kickboxer cd'd recently after being banned for multiaccounting. The game now needs someone to take his place, it costs 44 points to jump in.

The password is 'wellington'.

Quick review of the rules:
- Teams are locked England/Russia/Italy vs France/Austria/Turkey with Germany freelancing
- We have hardly started so it is a great time to join
- kickboxer controlled Italy so you would be taking Italy

When does a game complete?
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2913

Turkey should have wrapped up the game ages ago, and had the opportunity of taking Napes, Rome, Munich and Berlin for a few rounds already. Instead, it spares Italy and Germany, which seem to also have a pact (since they know each other).

Why would anyone do that?

In Napoleonic Honour (gid=3110), Italy has fallen into civil disorder, despite the fact that it is spring '01 diplomacy. Why and how?

Kickboxer has just cd'd after being banned for multi-accounting.

As it is, we need someone to take his place as soon as possible. We have hardly started so you just need to get yourself up to speed.
