Racist or not racist?
White woman starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Not charged with a criminal offense. Apache Indian starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Charged, convicted, and sentenced to ten years in prison. Is this proof of the systemic racism of the American court system or not? Please cast your votes below.

An instance of racism in the American courts, perhaps. Empirically speaking, you would need to provide more examples to demonstrate that it is systemic. Also, all other variables would need to be accounted for besides race.

+1 for white pyro chicks, though.

So if you include the whole Hammond affair in here, would that make the court system not racist, but sexist?

"Wait, you can't vote twice..."

Why can't you? Lots of people do. It pads the voter participation numbers, which everyone approves of. Please don't be afraid to speak your mind.... twice. Or more!

Cherry picking is the key to forum politics discussion the internet over.

It's why I don't ever take threads like this seriously. It's impossible to have a rational political discussion on the internet without cherry picking, strawmanning, and namecalling becoming the norm, so I instead default to shitposting.

What Yigg said.

You need more than one example to show a pattern. Are the majority of white people Not charged, while a majority of Apaches are charged and convicted?

So no, this does not amount to proof of anything.

The OP fails as a coherent claim of racism against the *courts* specifically. The OP misunderstands the court system.

The courts do not bring charges.

In the US sytem, charges are brought against individuals (or legal persons) in one of three ways:

1. By the police (for minor offences), or:
2. By the county, district, or state attorney, or:
3. By a grand jury.

The courts are seperate from these. The role of the court is to decide the case - not to decide who should and should not be charged. Courts do not make charging decisions.

Thus, the decision not to charge the white woman mentioned in the OP was not a decision made by any court.

We would need to know more about these cases. For example, were both cases deliberate arson? Were both fire-starters of sound mind? Did they have previous offenses? And so forth.

Tolstoy, it would be the result, not the proof.

If you want an example of systematic racism in America, look no further than the war on drugs, and all the different levels that are involved in turning poor Americans, and in particular black people in inner cities, in to sheep for a runaway prison system.

I vote that without more sample sizes it isn't proof either way.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))

I'd prefer to have full details of the case before making any claims either way.
Mujus (1495 D(B))

Not enough details, but another possible cause in any particular case is that our system of criminal justice is extremely variable.

Wildlife Preserve "Occupied"
Occupied by "armed Oregon militia." Not terrorists. Even though they're armed and provoking a standoff with the federal government and putting countless lives at risk.

Cat v. Dog
I think Cats are far more lovable. It has been proven cats increase positivity in their owners. They also purr and reduce blood pressure and stress. Plus you never hear some asshole say: "honey we gotta take the fucking cat for a walk, AGAIN"

Dogs smell, and they jump on people and slobber on you. Cats should win this thing.

US Election 2016: Trump v. Clinton v. Bloomberg.
It's looking more and more certain that this will be the presidential election line-up, with the BBC confirming that Michael Bloomberg will run as an independent if Trump/Clinton receive their respective party's nomination.

UN II - Constitution, resolutions and proposals.
The world has changed. The time of a lonely superpower is over. There are 17 powers in the world, and each of them has a vote in the security council in the new United Nations (UN).
The purpose of the game is role-playing game of diplomacy where the diplomacy between countries is in focus, not the actual war. You should choose a role to play (the neutral country opposed all wars, the super-power wanna-be, the federalist, the I'm-just-gonna-fuck-you-up-IS-role, or any other role).

Joinable games
I have been waiting months for this to make sense to me, but I still don't get it. When I click on Games, at the moment it says "Joinable (54)". When I click on the tab, I only see 1, and that game doesn't even have any joinable positions. What am I missing?
