Un-Ranked High Class Game

Turkish Opening and Mid-Game Tips

If every single person simply...

Cancelled their health insurance nationwide. All opted out of the deadlines. The IRS would be backlogged with fines and paperwork for 36 years. Thats how you could get rid of Obamacare if everyone really wanted too.

Any other comic book fans?

So I was curious if there are any other comic book fans? just looking for some wasted time and figured why not talk about comics.

I'm not really into comic books, but do collect the world of cartoonists. Most of them are from the past, eg Gilray, Ronald Searle etc, and magazines like New Yorker etc
I collect mainly hardcover collections of cartoonists work from the post WW2 period, particularly 1950's
Collections of cartoonists work gives commentary on political and social issues of the times. Newspapers mainly printed simple black ink cartoons. The soft porn magazines have a great history of printing cartoons in colour, eg Playboy, Esquire, I have a great hardcover from the 1950's of cartoons printed on Esquire. It's obvious that many artists used cartoons as a way of deriving an income during the immediate post WW2_period and a lot of their work refers to the war, or is influenced by the war

I like comic books, primarily Marvel, mostly 1980s, 1990s, and Bendis crossover events.

MM- that sounds really interesting. I never thought about how ww2 could affect art and literature like that.

THM- Marvel is imo better than DC, however I don't prejudice. I really enjoy the darker story arcs.

I like comic books. I collected Marvel Silver Age for a long time. I had a set of Avengers, the first 200 issues, 2 copies of #1. I had a few Golden Age. A really good 2 volume book series, with a lot of good pics of covers is Jim Steranko's History of comics.

It's similar to the novels like Catch 22, or the MASH novels. Mostly the cartoons are just light hearted eg two pilots asking a smug guy with paintbrush and toolbox marked Camouflage " OK so where have you hidden our plane ?" Or a drawing of men, tanks etc rushing forward and in the mix is a furiously pedalling chap with an ice cream "trolley"

Historically, there's the way "British" cartoonists treat the Royal family and Politicians that is interesting. They were treated savagely by modern standards in the 1790s to 1820's

The cartoons from the New Yorker are an excellent source for commentary on society, social, political and business issues through the times

Oh should have said that whilst post WW2 cartoons are mainly light hearted, there's occasionally the darker side hinted at.
I just love a lot of the work of Ronald Searle.

There's excellent art in an unlikely source of the approx 1960's & 1970's Italian pulp Sex - Horror short stories. Really erotic pictures of desirable women being fed into a giant mincer, half covered in molten plastic etc, or erotic pictures of women being the aggressor, and a screaming male victim

The soft porn industry generly printed in high quality colour, because they printed nudes, and were very profitable, so when Newspapers were printing in simple black ink, the soft porn industry was offering cartoonists and artists a relatively high rate of income for their work, and had the ability to easily print in colour

Let's all work together...

So I had an idea we could maybe, as a community, do a vDip crossover tournament; or even just make games on vDip and advertise them over here.... it would help both our sites. Maybe we could start by posting any vDip game links here of games we are trying to start

Math Question

How is it possible for my RR to go down between yesterday and today if I havent CD or NMR in that time? it was only by 1% but seriously I have been playing few games and loyally playing them all. Is there like an adjudication period for RR?

An expansion of Conceal and Carry Laws

I dont see why I should be shunned for towing around my katyusha rocket launcher as long as there is a blanket covering it. Isnt this still conceal and carry? It should be within my 2nd Amendment rights to have a bazooka that fires mini nukes as well.

Security Software

The free period of Norton Security that came with my laptop will end in seven days. My question: what's the best thing to do next? I could stick with Norton for €10 for the first year or I could pick something different.
I'm willing to pay €10, but I don't have a clue what's good and what's bad so if there's something better or equally good for free or the same price, I'd love to hear. I want to know the best option, basically.

News app - only major events

I'm looking for a newsfeed/news app that only reports major disruptive events as they are breaking news... ie 9/11, Katrina wiping out new orleans, n Korea testing h bombs, etc. tried googling this a bit and wasnt satisfied. Does anyone have recommendations?

I'm experiencing two browser problems:

1. Chrome won't open
2. Other browsers won't load Hotmail in a reasonable time. Every other site tried so far works great. Steam browser load Hotmail fast as well, but to start a game so I can use the steam browser every time I want to access my email..

Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

Do pseudonyms harm the hobby? An interesting letter in Diplomacy World.

I was reading through the most recent edition of Diplomacy World when I came across the following letter (see the post below). Having only just started to play in proper FTF games, it's not something that had really occurred to me before.

Does using a pseudonym take an important element out of the game? I'd be most interested to hear the opinions of those who are/were involved in FTF scenes, although anyone is welcome to comment.
