I was Russia in Fluffhead-26, and I had my cancel vote up as soon as there was an S01 NMR. So did Austria. The other four of you, besides Turkey who didn't ever vote cancel, of you only did so when you realize I'd roll over you guys and/or kept making the right moves and had 10 centers in 1903 and became a solo threat.
If a game should be cancelled, that means it should never have happened due to some reason, such as often a S01 NMR for example. It doesn't mean "oh fuck I'm not gonna win". If you actually mean to honestly cancel you would have done so right away, when the impetus for cancelling actually happens. If something like this happens and people don't cancel for multiple game years I have no moral qualms taking it down later (I put it up A01 and would leave it up until S04, I ended up leaving it up until S05) even if the stubborn people then throw it up. Cancels should be done immediately if you want them, because they should be based on the philosophical/ethical parts of the game, no ot on the current game board. Otherwise you forfeit your right to.
And yes, the people who put up cancel got screwed, but two things
1) Just like you can get screwed by them playing like shit or not putting up the draw or not knowing stalemate lines, which also happens
2) People who don't want to cancel unless it disfavors them wouldn't have cancelled in the lead by definition, and there are some people who don't understand or refuse to cancel, and also would have eliminated you if they were the ones who shot ahead.

I don't know what Turkey's deal was. Either
A) Doesn't believe in cancels...and then there's nothing I can do
B) Was trying to exploit by holding out and only cancelling if he's about to be eliminated and I'm not going to put up with that shit.
P.S., for those who don't know because it's not necessarily obvious, here's what "Cancel" does:
The game will be un-existed. There will be no record of it anywhere, everyone is returned their bet no matter their current position/state. It does not go on your record. It is for games that, effectively, never should have happened (such as when one player doesn't show up at all as ATC alludes to). It is annulled. It's useful for games where an early civil disorder means that you no longer have everyone at the table, and the game hasn't got very far.
P.P.S. normally I'd attack whoever isn't cancelling but I couldn't do that as a Russia who decided to go North to a Turkey who Austria fucked up attack and decided to suicide into Italy instead. And I shouldn't be expected to either.
P.P.P.S. I meant to support SER-BUL not BUL-SER in A03. Sorry Austria, that was a misorder.
P.P.P.P.S. It is now S05 and I have removed my cancel vote.(I'm writing this post live)
P.P.P.P.P.S. again, this isn't about how Turkey didn't cancel. It's about the people who only cancelled once they realized they weren't the ones to get the most out of the NMR. Although it is my opinion that Turkey is in the wrong here and if he waited to just cut three people out before ending the game rather than doing the just and nice and not-wasting-our-time thing I'm going to be pissed for an entirely different reason.
P.P.P.P.P.S. It is now S07 and I have returned my cancel vote.(I'm writing this post live) It's clear Turkey won't cancel no matter what. This game should be cancelled not drawn but whatever makes it end right now is fine with me.
P.P.P.P.P.P.S. and now a Turkey NMR? WTF dude
P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S. turns out Turkey finally went into CD and we got the three way draw. He's really knew but it doesn't excuse this behavior. At all. What a waste of time.
