Realistic Rebellion Diplomacy
So I was thinking of a new variant idea. The variant would play like regular diplomacy except that if you leave a occupied supply center open for a full year then that nation gets to build an Army on that area. It would simulate the effects of occupation in that occupation doesn't always go as planned. (more to follow)

Putting a new product on the market..
So I built my first prototype of an idea for a product I had and it's better than expected. I still am trying to figure out the best materials etc., but I plan to produce and sell the products eventually.
Anything I should keep in mind? I guess I should get a patent? Other things?

Thinking of starting a league of honest
Many people who play web diplomacy cheat together or lie. I would like to start a brotherhood in which live games are played and everyone has to be honest with each other when it comes to being allies....thoughts?

Joining new games
has anyone had issues joining new games with the password? I've reset my password, and logged back in twice, and the password won't work for joining a new game. Am I supposed to use a different password than my login?

Inviting a friend
I have a close friend who I would love to introduce to the site. He's never played diplomacy but he's expressed an interest in learning. I'm looking for advice from people who actually know some of the people they play with on this site. How do I introduce my friend without breaking any of the meta rules?

Choosing Nations
I've been playing on this site for a while and something is really bugging me. I've played 8 games so far and I love this site just to be clear. BUT what's absolutely annoying is the fact that when you're nation is chosen it seems to be completely random. Why? Because of the 8 games I've had: Russia 3 times, Italy 3 times, and Turkey 2 times. I have 2 requests.

ISIS BOMBING
ISIS is claiming credit for an attack today in Yemen that killed over 120 people. Two mosques were simultaneously attacked by as many as four possible suicide attackers.

I'm getting sick of all this ISIS crap. And they're taking credit for it ? Something's fishy. People (no matter who,why or what they do) don't like to brag about killing other people and stigmatizing themselves so that the entire world hates them. My guess is that there is some kind of political game going on here. Another excuse for the western world to invade the middle east, steal oil, and eliminate true opposition

Possibly they just want to make martyrs out of themselves and further alienate the West and the Middle East. They sure are doing a wonderful job.

Update:

More than 140 deads demanded today on two attacks, mainly from Shiites visited and because of the Friday prayer overfilled mosques of the Huthi Militia in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, about 340 humans thereby were injured, announce the news station Al Arabiya. Four suicide bombers had blown up themselves within and outside of the prayer houses. According the Reuters (press) avowed itself the Sunni coined ISIS to the massacre. Tunis, Yemen and so on, but nobody recognizes the danger that these conflicts are delivered soon not only in Europe...

Join or die is a tactic that's been successful for millennia. Lots of people that can't flee will at least say they will join to escape death. Going along to survive works for most people.

"Another excuse for the western world to invade the middle east, steal oil, and eliminate true opposition"

That's correct, and who carries the main responsibility for it? God’s own country and the coalition of the willing idiots!

Reminder:

ISIS isn't the only group in the world that does this shit. We just don't pay attention to a bunch of the others because they aren't relevant to our foreign policy.

RIP to all those killed and prayers out to the families affected.
Strauss (758 D)

Only few weeks ago the Shiite Huthi Militia took over control of the city, dissolved the parliament and disempowered the president. This required now obviously an answer of the Sunnis. Chaos, violence, murder and homicide, gladly also times among themselves, that are the ingredients from those the Islam exist and which it spreads everywhere, where it gives area.

That was nearly incomprehensible.
Why is the US more responsible for ISIS than Russia who propped up Assad and made the Syrian Civil war a drawn out struggle? How about the Arab nations that directly armed ISIS? How about Assad who let the jihadis out of prison to stave off Western attacks.

Clueless
KingCyrus (511 D)

"Why is the US more responsible for ISIS than Russia who propped up Assad and made the Syrian Civil war a drawn out struggle?"

Why do you write here so a codswallop?

The USA wanted to bring down the government of Assad under all circumstances and develop a new government. The suffering of humans is thereby indifferent to them and interests only the media. The government of the USA wanted present itself outward as a 'hero' like always, although it concerns to them for money and power. The dazzled demonstrators will be still surprised, who will follow after Assad - ISIS! North Africa was destabilized completely by the USA and will bring in the future large problems over the world and particularly Europe.

Why should the Russians give up Assad and not defend? Why should the Russians risk their only one military base outside of the ex-Soviet-states, by leaving religious fanatics to power, while the USA maintains hundreds of hundreds military bases distributed over the world? Assad is a very good business partner of the Russian government and if he is not more, then the Russians possibly lose everything. A strategically very important country. Russia invested there billions Euros, with the fall of Assad, in Syria rapidly everything be lost. The fact that Russia helps poorer countries and don't exploit it only like the USA frequently often did and current do, don't arrive in the western media yet and Russia is still never shown so well by a positive side. In addition: first the USA had armed ISIS, afterwards the Arab nations.

Strauss, are you from the US?

Dearthmerchant, you're doing the Canadian thing wrong. You are supposed to apologize now.
Strauss (758 D)
20 Mar 15 UTC
No, I'm from Germany.

The US-Government should ask itself in Syria and in many other states for apology. 220.000 killed humans in Syria since the civil war. Can you imagine this crowd piled up to a mountain? I can differentiate between the US-Government and the American inhabitants very well. Why thus should I apologize by the US-Government?

Isis kills people in bold random attacks with suicide bombers.

The "west" does is discretely and randomly throughout the middle east by dropping bombs from winged robots.

I don't blame ISIS as all for what they are doing.

Horrible atrocity. Is anyone surprised a religion with militant tendencies ended up with a schism that has long term violent consequences for civilians?

Let us not use the minority of a group to describe the majority.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)

I'd say that Sunni plus Shia constitutes almost all of Islam.

Now, I don't think that even a small fraction of Muslims are violent people by any means. However, when the Koran calls for war, some will heed the call. Those "holy" words will never go away.

krellin (80 DX)

mitomon -- you know, when a Christian does something horrible in the name of Christianity, say blow up an abortion clinic, the Christian community generally speaks out AGAINST the action, and says, "That doesn't represent us...". In fact, far less atrocious acts by "Christians" are decried as horrible by other Christians, such as the asshole Westboro "Baptist" church protests.

This so-called majority of Islam that abhors the violence? They are pretty fucking SILENT on the whole matter. Give me a break. If they did....there would be no ISIS, because the people would ride up and crush it. There would be no ISIS, because the Islamic government in the region would have crushed ISIS before it got this far.

Overplayed Music
So it seems that today radio and media in general get hold of a good song and overplay it until people become sick of it. Why do they do it? Why not give time to lesser known music, and thus prevent the dreaded overplayed feeling with good songs?
