Can anyone defend socialism?
Can anyone defend the idea that "government" can produce a better society by diminishing individual freedom in exchange for increased socialist imposition of government power on the individual?

Building on North and South Coast?
Can you build a unit on the North Coast of a SC, while building a unit on the South Coast of a SC?
No, only one unit max can occupy any space, regardless of coasts.

What happens if you do put it in?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

I think one of them won't build, the other will, and I believe it's random as to which build goes through. At least one of the builds will be delayed till the next build turn, maybe both.
Mujus (1495 D(B))

I beg to differ. Of course you can "build a unit on the North Coast of a SC, while building a unit on the South Coast of a SC," as long as they are two different countries. :-)
venergon (285 D)

In a normal diplomacy game you can't as the only person who has a home SC with coasts is Russia and they only have one.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

i'm not sure how it fails. You either get one order taking precedence, or both orders fail...

DATC: 6.I.7. TEST CASE, ONLY ONE BUILD IN A HOME SUPPLY CENTER

But webdip doesn't show how it resovles this test: http://webdiplomacy.net/datc.php
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

By the rules of the board game, shouldn't both builds fail?
orathaic (1009 D(B))
04 Nov 13 UTC
@yj, some interpretations would say the later order takes precedence, over-ruling the earlier one... it depends on who is running the game and whether they allow updates to orders after they have been entered.

But i can't remember what the rulebook says on the issue, and the DATC is the goto guide for automatic judges (computer adjudication, whatever you want to call it)

The boardgame rulebook (1999 edition) states:

"WRITING BUILDS AND DISBANDMENTS - Players write down which units they will disband (if any) and what type of unit will be built in a home supply center (if any). Any vague or invalid orders are ignored."

I would interpret the scenario of attempting to build two units in the same SC as a "vague or invalid" order, and therefore the order is ignored and no unit is built.

thats the passage I remember jamie, thanks.
Mujus (1495 D(B))

Venergon, not true! Both Bulgaria and Spain have both north and south coasts. My admittedly facetious comment was meant to say that yes, you can build in Spain (north coast) and in Bulgaria (south coast), or vice-versa, meaning that you can technically "build a unit on the North Coast of a SC, while building a unit on the South Coast of a SC." :-)
mendax (321 D)

You can't build in Spain or Bulgaria though.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Oh mujus, how very unhelpful you are...

But to the point, there is some question as to whether you should be able to order an Army built on the south coast of stp - i mean that doesn't make sense, and hence should be ignored by jamie's interpretation; alternatively, you could resolve any vagueness by taking the last or first set of orders as being valid (either assuming that the first valid order is correct, and thus followed, and only the second order is 'vague or invalid' - because if you ignored the first one, then the second one would make sense... OR as i previously suggested that the second order supersedes the first...)

Two perfectly logical, mutually exclusive interpretations of the rules (as written)

I have been working with my friends here to figure out what will cause a ban on this forum. We eliminated small caps as a reason, so we are leaning more towards conspiracy theories. Are conspiracy theories banned from this forum?

convenient LED table lamp with touch sensor

Halogen lamps are required to see the most powerful requirement improves through 2017. These lamps are the most just like conventional incandescents and will benefit from customer understanding, low preliminary cost and good lamp quality. Moreover, a rise in automobile manufacturing will encourage halogen front lamps requirement.

Can anyone defend religion?
Can anyone defend the idea that "the church" can produce a better society by sodomising thousands of vulnerable young people? My definition of religion is: an organised system to allow child abuse to be carried out in secret. Can anyone defend it?

Fact
I spent entirely too long in the toilet paper isle today. Extra strong, or Ultra soft? Both have their advantages, and it's not a decision lightly made

Sometimes I wish I could have a combo package... you know, extra strong for the evening I eat the burrito, and soft soft soft for the next day.
