Xbox Live Arcade Diplomacy Game
Just a idea i thought of while on my xbox. Anyone else think it is a good idea? If it had 7 player matches and functionality like this website (with 1 day or more turn systems + plus live games) I think I would pay at least 10 bucks to purchase it as long as it was simple but still got the diplomacy feel.

I wrote a song for you Ava!
Inspired by Sarg's comments in this thread:

I wrote this song for Ava! I used my friend's twelve string for instrumentation.

You know, like Hillary was supposed to have New york State of Mind play when she campaigned in NYC... What would play and would it vary depending on where you were stumping?

Those Times When Someone's Opinion Is...Just Wrong...(NFL QBs?)
...as I'm sure mine often is? ;) Well, here's a multi-million dollar example:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/joe-flacco-thinks-nfl-best-quarterback-005500221.html
Yeah...I like Flacco as a QB, I honestly do...but in a league with Peyton, Brady, Eli, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees...for starters...no. NOT the best in the NFL. But...who is--rank the QBs?

I made a model for H3++, but I don't know what that's called.
H3+ is a trihydrogen cation, but is there a distinction between how "ionic" a molecule is?
Thanks!

What does an economic crisis mean to you?
Just curious.. what do you think when you hear the distant term "economic crisis" on television, the news, or from the general population?

I'm just a student getting through my miserable life, searching for motivation in this supposedly upcoming damned world.

Is that guaranteed?

I still call BS.

According to your own school's site, highest starting salary for 2011 was $96k. Furthermore, even if average salary was $100k, it would still take over 2 full year's worth of salary to pay off tuition.

We have a hiring rate close to 100% at around $65k average. So, that's less than 1 year's full salary...
Yes, it might not be in state but around 100K is the typical starting salary.
Funny not what admissions told me.
Your school guarantees you a job? Do they wave a magic wand and make a job out of thin air or something?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

http://www.rose-hulman.edu/news/on-campus/90-percent-placement.aspx

Where are you getting this $100K number from?
Celticfox (100 D(B))
05 Apr 12 UTC
And you could always be part of the 10% that doesn't get a job.
As I posted admissions was the one that exclaimed this.

"As I posted admissions was the one that exclaimed this."

Well, I don't doubt they claimed a lot of things, trying to get people to pay $54k a year for a school with no graduate departments.

If I were you, I'd ask someone to give you actual graduation data, because I think you're going to be very disappointed.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

I'm not trying to be a jackass, btw. But, I am a real engineer and I find it hard to believe that your school has an average starting salary of $100k and my research backs that up, so...
Abge, what sort of engineering work do you do?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

http://www.rose-hulman.edu/admissions-financial-aid/career-planning/great-careers.aspx

2009 highest average salary was ChemE at $63k. Right on par with national average (if not lower).

@AM

I'm just about to finish my MS in Computational Nanoelectronics. I'm finishing up a new method for electronic structures calculations.

When I graduate, I plan on moving more into the experimental side. I like math, but I really want to get into a clean room and actually make some shit.
Cool! Will you be able to make it big doing research/design like that or is it a field where it is hard to get a cut of royalties on your ideas?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
05 Apr 12 UTC
What do you mean by "make it big"?

I expect a starting salary of around $70k, which will probably cap at around $100k (maybe $150k if I'm the director of a lab or something) as an engineer. Nano is a big field atm, so there's lots of room for patents and recognition, but all that money goes to the company. I won't be rich unless I start my own company, which is hard to do given the start-up costs of nano fab. But, $100k is more than enough for me to have a happy life, so I have no real qualms there.

In my opinion, the prosperity in America before the economy dropped was a false prosperity. It was over inflated. America believed it had more worth than it actually had. Corporations and people overextended their reach, cut corners, and speculated too far. When reality caught up to us, the facade fell to reveal a smaller structure.

It would not be safe for America to quickly climb back to where we thought we were because it would again be false progress. The kind of real growth we need will be slow and steady and honest; built on hard work, and actual increase of worth. Manufacturing. Infrastructure. Less services, more goods. Then we can get back to where we thought we were.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Honestly, though, I picked the field because I find it fascinating. Getting paid wheelbarrows full of money was just an added bonus.

@BB

Nice. Are the lasers used for real-time measurements or actual fabrication? Do you do any work on 3 D printers? : )
100k is nothing for anyone I scoff at I would say, especially if you can get it doing something you enjoy. And I meant being able to file stuff under your own name. I'm just curious because I hear it depends a lot of the field weather the researchers get to claim discoveries every now and then. And I just wasn't sure how much salt to take with that, because obviously the company is payin you for research so they would expect the returns.
To scoff at*

I mean, I can get my name on the patent, I think that's fairly common, but so would the company.

BTW....Abge...and ALL of you cowardly trolls....I made my case....if you want Federal funding for general attributes of society....than ALL blacks should be locked up....because I can DEMOSTRATE BY GOVERNMENT STATISTICS that blacks are the source of crime in Detroit...therefore ALL blacks should be incarcerated.

You fucking cowards are AFRAID to address my argument NOT becuase it is racist...but because it is ABSURD!! IF you agree to my argument....then your own social programs are inherintly racist. If you DISAGREE with my program, then you admit that racial profiling of federal programs is inherinetly RACIST....and I am proven right.

BRING IT ON...PROVE ME WRONG...

@Abge....you DISGUSTING use of "I'll cap out at around 150K" while there is a whole segment of society ....those underpriveledged minority kids you pretend to sympathize with...will NEVER make that much without selling drugs....

I wonder...when you make your $150K....will you drive down to the ghetto and hand out food to the por negro children that were not as advantaged as you? I wonder....will your nobility last beyond your sucess????

I promise you....if we are both still here in 10 years....I *will* question you....and I can pretty much much near answe the question now, you privedlegded white boy...
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

@krellin

I already donate to charities, even on a graduate stipend, so, yes, I suspect I will continue to do so in the future. I also volunteer trying to get young kids interested in science, so that they, too, can get good jobs.

Also, why should I be ashamed about making money? I'm not stealing money from poor people when I get my paycheck; they wouldn't see that money anyway (unless you're proposing a communist society).
damian (675 D)
05 Apr 12 UTC
Krellin, you are right. Racial profiling is racist. It's attempting to tar a large body of discrete individuals with a single brush.

Government programs shouldn't profile based on race.

May I inquire what grand point you've proven?
krellin (80 DX)
05 Apr 12 UTC
Abge...YOU and your brethren in the Liberal Faith are the ones that claim we shodlbe ashamed of making money....after all, only white man make money off the back of black man....of...unless you are liberal, yes? Oh....God white man (like Abge) make money off the back of black man but donate to charity...he GOOD....we like white abge....

Hypocrite...
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
05 Apr 12 UTC
The only person who has continually brought up race in this conversation is you, and most of it has been in regards to killing black people. I'm not sure how that reflects poorly on me.
damian (675 D)
05 Apr 12 UTC
I was going to refer him to my post about why he shouldn't use stereotypes, and instead should actually address the points that we make. Because hyperbolic stereotypes do nothing to further his arguments

However I've concluded it would be much funnier instead to simply start calling him Farmer Krellin, and do the same thing to him, but with conservative stereotypes.
