Name some 'regular' activities you enjoy doing on a daily basis.
I'm going through a lifestyle change (which is going well, by the way) and although I haven't been particularly bored so far, that's probably because I'm still 'recovering' from my old lifestyle. Since I'm sort of coincidentally 'cutting down' on things I enjoy with this change as well, I need some replacement and at the same time I'd love to hear what webdippers do to enjoy themselves.

Are you playing this game? Anyone hit 2048 yet? I've only gotten to 1024

When people modify the winning condition they sometimes change the colors too. I've usually seen it as black though.

New version a friend sent to me http://sztupy.github.io/2048-Hard/

Rather then the new tile being placed randomly, the game is programmed to put the new tile in the worst possible space for your current situation. Makes it far harder, played it a few times and can't get past 128.

I won it and got a top score of 28556 the other night.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
15 Apr 14 UTC
Won it? Once you know what to do, as others have described above, getting to 2048 on a regular basis isn't very hard. For me at least. Getting to 4096 is a bit more of a challenge. Just haven't been able to crack 8192 yet.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
15 Apr 14 UTC
I'm currently having an AI vs Me Impossible mode. I go first and whatever my score is at death is my score for the round, then its the ai turns, if the AI gets higher then me he wins, if I get higher, I win.

Currently 4 to 2 in favour of the AI.
Alderian (2425 D(S))

Finally got 8192 (score of 112556). Next largest block when I got stuck was only a 1024, which was in the right position next to the 8192, but the 512 block got out of position and it was all down hill from there. Now I can play just for the fun of it without obsessing over getting to the next block because 16384 is just crazy crazy.

16384
Theoretically possible, but may require quite a lot of luck. Have there been any reports of anyone reaching the elusive 5 digits?
Alderian (2425 D(S))
20 Apr 14 UTC
There is this screenshot on facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152038555492106&id=234938172105

But who knows if it is real or not. By real I mean on a legit version of the game and not edited.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
20 Apr 14 UTC
One reason I might suspect it as not legit is because there it isn't at the end. Still lots of potential to keep going. I would have gone Up, expecting a 2 in the bottom corner, then Down, then Left hoping the new block would appear in the upper right and not bottom left and then you'd be in real good shape. But if a 4 appeared on that first Up move, then that's the end.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Apr 14 UTC
It's likely legit. I've made serious progress past 4096 with not too much effort, it's definitely conceivable to get 4x that.

As far as the screenie, Alderian, I'm guessing he took it immediately after hitting his "goal." That's what I did when I captured 4096 for posterity. Don't want a crash to spoil your proof, and if you recall the screen goes kinda opaque after you finish.
ghug (5068 D(B))
20 Apr 14 UTC
It's well past 16384 though. And it's more difficult than you realize. You'd only have the top two rows to build all of your smaller numbers by the end.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Apr 14 UTC
Don't challenge me ghug, I said it was conceivable, not that it was easy.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
20 Apr 14 UTC
When I surpass myself I just take a screenshot of the opaque finish screen. But to each their own.

Perhaps they took occasional screenshots and this was the last one taken before getting stuck.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Yeah I see your point Alderian.

Got a 4096. Since the game's called 2048 though, after beating it a few times it loses its edge.
yebellz (729 D(G))

2048 or 4096 are just arbitrary stopping points to give people the satisfaction that they've "won". You can go much further as the theoretical maximum is much higher, but I guess the activity may get boring for some without the fanfare and illusion of achieving some arbitrary higher goal.

after seeing the first post a month ago, and a friend who was playing it, i downloaded the app. I just reached 32768 with a score of 450982. I challenge you all to beat me...
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 Apr 14 UTC
32768 means you had to have all but 2 squares perfectly filled off 16384 to get what you needed to progress the chain down to 32k. I some how doubt it.
Victorious (768 D)
27 Apr 14 UTC
well, i do have a photo to prove so. But i also showed it to a friend of mine and he told me i was playing it in practice mode. So you can undo your last few moves. I had not seen there was also another mode.

link to where you a playing it? That sounds so much easier and I think I could probably beat you

I think this is a major problem. There needs to be a way to unstar threads you decide you don't like anymore without muting them.

The Favorite Author Tournament: The Round of 64
So after an, um, interesting first match that became a friendly because 1. Neither Shakespeare nor Vergil should be pitted against top foes in the first round and 2. Stephenie Meyer was an embarrassment and was going to get her butt kicked by Virginia Woolf anyway, we start the Round of 64 in proper here. All the matches will be posted in here, we'll move on every 24 hours, assuming my computer doesn't die (anyone know how to fix "'Documents.library-ms' is no longer working?) Anyway!

Fleet at Poland retreat to Ukraine?
gameID=138998

Okay, how on earth did Quebec's fleet at Poland manage to retreat to Ukraine despite not sharing a coastal border? Is this a bug or an obscure quirk of the World map? The variant homepage says nothing about any Pol-Ukr canal.

As With Crimea, So Too with Eastern Ukraine...
http://news.yahoo.com/rebels-declare-victory-east-ukraine-vote-self-rule-012033097.html "Organizers in the main region holding the makeshift vote on Sunday said nearly 90 percent had voted in favor." Yes...because when I think "legitimate democratic proceedings," the first thing *I* think of is a "makeshift vote"...and nearly 90% in favor, on such a divisive issue? You couldn't get 90% of people to agree what color the sky is! Will the West act NOW? (No. But let's chat, shall we?)

The quiet train to depression-ville
So I've been watching liveleak videos featuring violence and death and then went onto Omegle to talk about it and kept getting "16m u?" and now I'm depressed. Sam Cooke tells me it's been a long time coming but a change is gonna come? I am skeptical.

Statistics
I've been thinking of modifications to the ghostrating system, is there anywhere with a vast amount of diplomacy game data I can mine to test out the modifications? It doen't need to be from this site but I would prefer if it had data on individual turns and not just win/lose/draw/survive.
