Name some 'regular' activities you enjoy doing on a daily basis.
I'm going through a lifestyle change (which is going well, by the way) and although I haven't been particularly bored so far, that's probably because I'm still 'recovering' from my old lifestyle. Since I'm sort of coincidentally 'cutting down' on things I enjoy with this change as well, I need some replacement and at the same time I'd love to hear what webdippers do to enjoy themselves.

Picking oranges

Picking oranges without eating as an objective

Or "sauntering" as Thoreau describes it.

Others:

-Identifying plants
-watching sunsets
-imagining myself as another passerby
-writing short poems or vignettes
-having a cold or warm drink on the balcony/porch
-lifting light weights
-stretching
-reading in a non-electronic format and putting the phone and computer away
-taking care of a plant

@Thucy
It's odd, I get the impression that I'd actually get along with you pretty well if we met in real life...

@Steephie
I try to do at least one thing for my mental, physical, and spiritual well-being each day. Most days this means doing homework, working out, and having a quiet time. It's hard to have enough self-discipline to manage it all, but ultimately it makes me a happier person. In my free time, I try to waste time in a more productive manner. Instead of sinking hours and hours into a pointless video game, I write instead. It's not as fun but it's definitely more satisfying in the end.

Read books (paper, as Thucy says, and both fiction and nonfiction).

Read math or physics at a desk and work through the problems.

Take drives in the countryside.

Take photographs.

Think, often in detail about a single thing for a few hours (although by its nature this includes episodic mind-wandering and returning). Often combined with drives (see above).

Lie down and "take a nap," but use the time both while going to sleep and while waking up to think in very nondirected ways about life, people, etc. I have to give myself enough time for the thinking to actually be free to drift. An hour is usually plenty.

Bird watching. When the honey suckle is in bloom, the hummingbird comes by every ten minutes to feed and hover to inspect the rest. I had some baby Gambel quails a few weeks ago walk past as I came home.

When one hand has a cigar and the other a scotch, it's hard to masturbate. No, the music of various sorts accompanies scotch and cigars sittinout back watching the deer wander out of the trees in the evening.

Since you're looking for ideas, I'll just list a lot.

Walking, walking the dog, solving obscure software, statistical, or other problems, working on the house (renos) and yard, playing board games with the kids, ballroom dancing, Argentinian tango, and reading.

Before I got married, I did a lot of hiking, canoeing, calligraphy, listening to blues at the bar, meditation, being involved in a few clubs, organizing things like potlucks, and working on the acreage.

I'm thinking of starting to tinker with electronics again, maybe take up drumming. The kids are old enough that canoeing/kayaking trips are possible.

Scotch is good. Oh yeah, I used to brew mead, beer, and root beer. The mead varied a lot in quality and the root beer had a tendency to explode and hit the ceiling but was very good.

I'm enjoying Wildstar. I'm fact, I preordered it. It's in open beta from now until the 18th. The mechanics are a bit different, but more enjoyable if you ask me. Combat no longer requires tab targeting. Instead, you have a cone of damage and if you keep your enemies in it, you will hit them. Some things are run and gunbwhilenothers require you to stop. But the best thing is long cast spells will still go off even if interrupted, just for a reduced impact.

You pick the usual race and class, but then you also follow one of four paths: soldier, builder, explorer, and scientist. Oh, and you can build dwellings and things for yourself or your guild (preorders get a free spaceship house when they hit the level to buy one normally). So it combines aspects of WoW with Second Life (housing, clothes for off questing times, etc) but with a couple unique things like the path and the combat system.

Is Thucy some kind of mentalist......
"taking care of a plant" FFS, how much care can you actually take of one plant?
Instructions: Water once daily, is there more?
"reading in a non-electronic format", where I come from we just call that reading
"lifting light weights" you're a f****** lightweight mate
"writing vignettes" - that is a dressing you put on your salad you ponce
"imagining myself as another passer by" I can totally understand why you could wish you were somebody else
Do you believe in reincarnation, if so then pray you come back as someone more interesting you boring twat. If I met you after 10 minutes I would have to extinguish you and I'd be doing the world a favour :-)

Guys we have no emoticons here so I will explain this series of symbols for you old folks, :-) ..... this is a smiley face and is used to highlight the fact that my comments are somewhat tongue-in-cheek, not to be taking serious, to use the colloquial some may coin the phrase "he is joking" or "he is having a larf".
I'm pretty sure that when you guys haven't got your head stuck up your arse you may also indulge in some mild mirth, albeit of a more pleasant and tranquil nature.
I appreciate that the missing :-) on the 1st post may have caused a little consternation but to make up for I've added an extra one :-) :-) #getalifeyousaddos

The Favorite Author Tournament: The Round of 64
So after an, um, interesting first match that became a friendly because 1. Neither Shakespeare nor Vergil should be pitted against top foes in the first round and 2. Stephenie Meyer was an embarrassment and was going to get her butt kicked by Virginia Woolf anyway, we start the Round of 64 in proper here. All the matches will be posted in here, we'll move on every 24 hours, assuming my computer doesn't die (anyone know how to fix "'Documents.library-ms' is no longer working?) Anyway!

Fleet at Poland retreat to Ukraine?

Okay, how on earth did Quebec's fleet at Poland manage to retreat to Ukraine despite not sharing a coastal border? Is this a bug or an obscure quirk of the World map? The variant homepage says nothing about any Pol-Ukr canal.

http://news.yahoo.com/rebels-declare-victory-east-ukraine-vote-self-rule-012033097.html "Organizers in the main region holding the makeshift vote on Sunday said nearly 90 percent had voted in favor." Yes...because when I think "legitimate democratic proceedings," the first thing *I* think of is a "makeshift vote"...and nearly 90% in favor, on such a divisive issue? You couldn't get 90% of people to agree what color the sky is! Will the West act NOW? (No. But let's chat, shall we?)
