getting back in to Combat Mission
haven't played for a long time since I'm on a Mac and the classic CM games don't work anymore. I'm excited to see Battlefront has come out with new WWII CM. But they're a bit pricy. Not sure if I should get Normandy or Fortress Italy? Anyone play these games?

Alacriousness
Problem of politicians regarding Syria: the alacrity to do something. If Cameron and co just hold their breaths for a second, wait for what the UN has to say, wait for what other nations have to say, they'll get their mandate. There's simply no rush.

Sbyvonomics
In a perfect (i.e. Sbyvl-dominated) world, the economic system would be much better than it is today. Here are my five steps to fix the socialist playpen that we call America:

@Celticfox, I wouldn't call him conservative at all. He's something else entirely and I don't want my party associated with his way of thinking. We have enough of that to get rid of already.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Aug 13 UTC
Which many many many people have stated why that's a really really bad idea Sbyvl. Just because you don't wanna pay taxes doesn't mean that's a good economic plan.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
Actually, I think I may stay awhile.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)

Oh, I know good economic plans, and that's one riht there.

@Kramer I totally understand why. It's why I don't declare any party. All of them have aspects I'd rather not be associated with.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
@kramer: You're the exact reason why we're losing.

The Tea Party gave us the House of Representatives, remember?
mendax (321 D)

Kramer - I think the modern Democrats would suit you rather well. Whilst they still have the trappings of populism, the policies that they are putting forwards fit your views remarkably well.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Aug 13 UTC
And a bunch of those candidates lost their seats too. I know my tea party rep was voted out first chance we could get him out.
kramerkov18 (1570 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
@Celticfox, Makes sense, i just prefer to call myself conservative so people get a general sense of where I am coming from, however, I try to stress the moderate faction.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
And here come the Dems desperately trying to get new recruits. How pathetic.

I don't need your crocodile thanks, fuckface. Nobody enlists to have chickenhawk assholes like you give your half assed thanks.

The fact remains that you've slandered people who have actually done things for this country, instead of posting insane rantings on a internet form.

Let me be clear: I think an immigrant that comes to this country deserves more consideration than you. Because they had to want it. They had to want to be a citizen. You, on the other than, spit on immigrants, despite you doing absolutely fuck all to deserve the blessings of citizenship.

I can't even find words to express my contempt and disdain for you.

A) I'm not a democrat. I've voted for a Republican before. B) Nothing wrong with an exchange of ideas. You know where people talk and listen and let both sides explain. You know to promote harmony through understanding.

"@kramer: You're the exact reason why we're losing.

The Tea Party gave us the House of Representatives, remember?"

Oh trust me, I don't think I am the reason we are losing. It's because of the Tea Party that we are losing. They have successfully high-jacked a once great party and turned it into something else. Something I don't agree with at all. By the way, I thought you said "we're going to win" earlier but now you are saying we're losing? Well... which one is it?
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Aug 13 UTC
Joe Walsh.. a self declared Tea Partie. Oh and for the record he only won because the liberal vote went in part to the Green party candidate. If there hadn't been that green party candidate Walsh wouldn't of won.
mendax (321 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
I'm not a democrat. The democrats are, to my mind, pretty terrible. But then I'm a left, and Kramer is a moderate conservative - The fact that they would fit him well shows why I don't agree much with the party.
ILN (100 D)

i bet sbyvl is the type of moron that would buy moon real estate from Dennis Hope.
kramerkov18 (1570 D)

@mendax, you know, I used to think there weren't that many moderates out there anymore with how polarized the US has become but it's good to know I can still find those who are willing to stand on both sides of the line. I agree there are plenty of moderate liberal ideas out there I think are great. I mean Jack_Klein said it perfectly when he labeled liberals as the idea generators and conservatives as the managers who make sure the idea can work and then support it.

CF: Thats a D+6 district, of course he lost in a presidential year.

Kramer: What have we turned the party into, besides the majority?
Sbyvl36 (439 D)

You're just jealous because Reagan won and Romney lost.
mendax (321 D)

I suspect I'm both far more radical than Jack_Klein (though it's hard to tell because everyone can post pretty similar stuff when dealing with Sybvl), and also far less trusting of the political system. This may just be because it's so dysfunctional now that it's hard to see any way to stop the USA collapsing in on itself.

I love it when Communists call me extreme.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Actually Sbyvl I live in one of the most conservative areas in Illinois. So that's not quite right and there was a Republican Rep elected for 12 years previous to Melissa Bean.

So the British govt don't want to get involved in Syria but the Prime Minister does, who are we to stop him, I'll even offer to drive him to the airport. I'm sure he'll tell Assad exactly what he thinks of him.

This has been tried before but I cannot find the thread. I want to start a series of 36-hour gunboat games with password. No special rules except to ready promptly when possible. PW will not be sent to those with a history of resignations. I will start the game(s) as soon as there is interest.

I remember playing this once on webdip a while back, and thought it would be nice to try it again. If you are wondering how to play, the objective is to reach Ankara, without breaking any rules or conventions set in place by Stovald and Avalon Hill, if you need to brush up on the rules, you can go to your nearest distributor of the new updated edition ruleset
