Seriously, though, it is her birthday. There was this thing she wanted like a month ago, and asked me to get it for her as an early birthday present, which I did. So, y'know, I thought I was covered.

Apparently, I was wrong. Even though she told me not to get her something else too, I found out this morning that I was supposed to get her something else too.

Where's CelticFox? I bet she'd have some good ideas.

I put my wife's 25th anniversary present in layaway (*very* expensive diamond tennis bracelet) last fall and then had a winfall bonus come in. So I said "Do you want to wait or should I just get it out and give it to you now, knwoing it's actually next anniversary's present." She took it at the time. Earlier this month, she startign asking about bonuses and going on a cruise for our anniversary and I "wouldn't have to get her a present." OY! What the fuck was the tennis bracelet?! I didn't tell her that, of course (didn't want to be locked out), but I should have known giving it to her early just meant I'd have to give something else come that time. Never *ever* give a wife or girlfriend a present early unless you *want* to have to buy something else.

What you could give her on the cheap is a pearl necklace. She just has to give you a BJ first. :-D

I'm totally the wrong women for this. Every year I ask for a video game or 2 and get it around my birthday/anniversary. I'm a pretty easy women to shop for.

Also, maybe do something for her instead of buying her something.

I get my gf *awesome* presents. The trick is to pretend like you don't listen very well and then get something based on some tiny thing she mentioned one time.

That's true. That does tend to be games with me. Though last year I did get a keurig for our anniversary. I love him even more for it.

My gift idea would be think of something she has always wanted you to do or try, and then do that with her.

If you are great and have already exhausted these, get her something that you feel represents her.

You don't have a lot of money, so trending to favors is a great trick, accompanied by a small memento.

Amateurs, all of you! Take her to Nordstrom's to shop for some really comfortable shoes in the $100 range (sale price). :0)

Get her some unpretentious wine then call her a slut.

It turned out fine. I got tix to a band she likes.

Also, my wife is not an unpretentious wine kind of girl. She's a pretentious beer kind of girl.

Go to a store that sells craft beers. Many will let you mix a six pack, so get her twelve different beers. Not a good primary gift, but a good stretcher.

But calling her a slut is the key, hecks. How you get her drunk first is only a side note.
