getting back in to Combat Mission
haven't played for a long time since I'm on a Mac and the classic CM games don't work anymore. I'm excited to see Battlefront has come out with new WWII CM. But they're a bit pricy. Not sure if I should get Normandy or Fortress Italy? Anyone play these games?

Alacriousness
Problem of politicians regarding Syria: the alacrity to do something. If Cameron and co just hold their breaths for a second, wait for what the UN has to say, wait for what other nations have to say, they'll get their mandate. There's simply no rush.

Sbyvonomics
In a perfect (i.e. Sbyvl-dominated) world, the economic system would be much better than it is today. Here are my five steps to fix the socialist playpen that we call America:

"Don't like to kiss men with tongue? Then don't kiss men with tongue!"

If you don't want to be told what to do in your private life, then extend other people the same favor, and don't do that to others.

I mean, I guess I should be happy.... Clericofascism was a thing back in the day... and I'm sure our local Death Camp Commandant kind of wishes for those thousand years of backwardness and suffering so he could light people like me on fire for being heathens.

"Ignorance at its worst."
Actually Sbyvl, I am a republican and I don't think you are even close to being right. Your ignorance and closed mindedness far surpasses any of the so call "libtards" on this site. I don't agree with a lot of things liberals believe, but there are plenty that I would side with as well. Tolerance being chief among them and you don't seem to display any what so ever.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
If by "tolerance" you mean allowing sodomites to marry, I think I'll retain my "close-mindedness", but thanks anyway.
ILN (100 D)

I'm doubting sbyvl really is 30 as he claims he is, his mental age is somewhere around 12 years old.

Kramerkov; I find myself missing the Goldwater Republicans. One could do business with them, compromise could occur.

I mean, a properly balanced conservative/liberal situation is actually a really GOOD thing. Liberals come up with some crazy idea. Sounds great on paper. The conservatives respond with "Well, in theory, yeah, but we have to pay for this and make it work". Discussion results. Compromise occurs. Consensus is built. We get better legislation as a result (and it works both ways... conservative ideas tempered with liberals making compromise as well)

You know I'm considered a sodomite cause I'll give my husband a blow job. But hey since I'm straight it's ok.

What right do you have to tell them how to live their lives? Are they telling you how to live your private life?

Golden rule, fuckface. Live it.

Sodomite.
ILN (100 D)

sbyvl, your problem is not being able to mind your own fucking business, if you are against gay marriage, don't get one! that does not mean you can deny others the right to marry whom they please.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
Wow, you're really good at parroting Socialists. Please, tell me more.
Jack_Klein (897 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
I mean, I've actually heard a great conservative argument for being pro gay marriage.

Goes more or less like this. Conservatives want to promote family units and stability. Settling down, and being responsible, productive members of society.

Marriage is a key component to this. By allowing homosexuals to marry, we're letting them buy into the system, to settle down, become productive members of societies with mortgages and all that jazz. The alternative is to have them to continue to live in unstable cohabitations that are not what the conservatives want.

I don't agree with all of that, but its at least a conservative trying to bring people over. I know more than a few homosexual men and women that would probably start voting Republican if the conservatives stopped being so anti-homosexual.

But hey, keep it up. Its making my job easier.
kramerkov18 (1570 D)

Jack_Klein, unfortunately they are drowned out by the voices of extremists. I agree completely with you idea of balance. I mean you can't really have one and not the other and call it an effective system.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Sbvyl your a lawyer. How can you say it's right to go against with will of the majority? The majpority are ok with divorce and gay marriage and no right are being infringed on if those are legal.

I don't compromise in matters of morality. End of story.

Yep. I may not have agreed with Senator Goldwater, or Senator Dole, but they were honest people who were willing to do what it took to make this nation and our government work.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Aug 13 UTC
Then a would assume you don't really respect the Constitution. Since you would infringe upon others rights and prevent majority rule.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
31 Aug 13 UTC
That doesn't make it right.

Well, welcome to the dustbin of history.

In fifty years, people like you will be like those pockets of the Klan still in the south... the next generation will wonder why people were such dicks, and your grandkids, if you have any, will be quietly embarrassed that grandpa is such a homophobic old coot.

And then you'll die, and your narrow minded views will die with you.

You've already lost. This is just the coda... the melody has long since passed you by.

" I know more than a few homosexual men and women that would probably start voting Republican if the conservatives stopped being so anti-homosexual."
Exactly, if the modern day republicans would ease off on anti-homosexuality, anti-immigration, and completely pro-life (i.e. no choice at all) then they could bring a lot more people into the fold. I mean liberals can get it right too so they deserve to have their ideas heard and considered. Not just drowned out by extremist rhetoric.
Jack_Klein (897 D)

Senator Dole fought bravely for this country. You fucking cowardly, sniveling shit.

The most you've done for this country is to suck down air that people like him bled and suffered so you could waste it.

What have you done for this country. How dare you insult somebody who was crippled in the defense of this nation? HOW FUCKING DARE YOU?
mendax (321 D)

Jack, in that last post you have hit on exactly the reasoning why i'm not so excited about same-sex marriage as most. For me, it's a way to buy into the system, and once a movement has been co-opted in that way it becomes much harder to achieve much more (support for trans* people is not even on the horizon, for example). I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a good thing that it's now legal. But it isn't the huge, game-changing victory that it's often made out to be, nor is it the end of the struggles for the LGBTQ* community. An obvious next step would be to gain employment protections, but those are still incredibly controversial for some reason.
