NFL Week 5: Pick 'em--Wherein, Hey, There Are Actually a Lot of Good/Interesting Games!
So we kick off the week tonight with a game which looked like crap at the beginning of the year and now...looks slightly less like crap with the Bills and Browns going at it. Seattle meets Indy, the Niners and Texans square off on Sunday Night, the Raiders and Chargers play a LATER Sunday Night game no one outside California will watch, Pats/Bengals, Lions/Packers, and so on...so, once again, we ask you to...PICK 'EM!

Yes ill get a 13 dollar job in northern kentucky or dc when i live approximately 4000 miles away. Yes I know draugnar, you do a 5 thousand mile commute every morning.

I believe the word is "non-essential" as I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with importance but then again I'm talking to a moron who lies about his work hours to score points on an Internet forum then proceeds to post all day when he is supposedly workin 70 hour weeks.
Putin33 (111 D)

You don't know anything about proper teaching methods. So what are you on asking teachers about them? Do you ask engineers about their methods?

Of all the things to criticize krellin for, I don't think talking to his children's teachers is one of them.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Oct 13 UTC
Putin...read this slowly...maybe then you'll comprehend. I am reporting WHAT THE TEACHER SAID ABOUT WHAT SHE HAS TO DO. **SHE** is disattisfied with what she is being forced to do. As for what I know about teaching methods, I have actually taught a class before. I have also been a student, suffering under a variety of teachers and various teching methods. I am also a parent who is actively involved in my children's education. I see what they are taught, I see the methods by which they are taught. I know when they are struggling with a subject that they previously excelled at. I see when they move to a new class, and once again excel in a subject when not under the deficient methods of an incompetent "educator".

What sort of a fucking moron are you that thinks I don't have a right to talk to my student's teachers at a parent/teachers conference!? Idiot. And for the record, the *teacher* is the one that initiated the conversation after she sent an email to every single parent of her students, explaining why the teaching methods had changed this year over previous years.

As for Engineers that I recruit, your damned right I ask them about their methods, you moron.

Sorry, Putin, once again, you are just an ignorant fool. You seem to operate under this moronic idea that a government bought-and-paid for teacher can do no wrong....while simultaneously panning the US education system and government at every opportunity. You are truly a shit sucking moron.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Oct 13 UTC
Yes, Santa...sympathize with my children. What a truly horrible thing to have a parent involved in their child's education, who sits with them when they struggle with a subject, and engages with the teachers to make sure they are doing well in class.

What a terrible person I am...
Putin33 (111 D)

Right, it's always the teacher's fault your kid sucks at school. Not your kid being lazy.
It was more the alcoholism and erratic demeanor.

Draugnar (0 DX)

Santa - It is hardly a stretch to imagine a *Federal* non-essential employee might actual live near the home of the *Federal* government. The fact that you don't males my point no less valid. I am sure you can find work within a day if you love near any major metropolis. But wait! If you do work then they'll keep the backpay they *always* give for time not worked when everything is settled don't they... So either go get a minimum wage or better job to see you through or wait for that back pay. Either way, I don't give a fuck except for you to stop whining "poor is me I don't want to go to a temp agency while the government is shutdown and my pencil pushing, do nothing, non-essential guvment job is on hold." Get a fucking job already. I was fired once and had a nee job within two days. Then again I have actual skills.
Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Oct 13 UTC
@Putin - I regularly train people of varying skill sets from simple sales reps and administrative assistants to the IT folk responsible for maintaining our systems at their companies to the CEOs and COOs of this organizations. Yes, I can teach. I choose not too teach any more than I have to because I don't enjoy it and I already said teachers work hard during the school year.
Putin33 (111 D)
03 Oct 13 UTC
So training people at your job (where people are fully developed and mature) means you have sufficient expertise to critique people who have degrees in education, and very often have masters degrees due to the job requirements for teachers. Got it.
I don't think I once whined "poor is me" I believe this conversation started when you called me a "lazy gubement worker" for no other reason than to legitimize your life choices in that notoriously insecure and unstable brain of yours.

About getting another job. Never a question. I'm applying for jobs but perminantly. Any reasonable human being knows getting another job is not that easy and any moral human being would hesitate getting a job for 2 days under false pretenses. then again i dont know ehy i am arguing this. the premis is so completely fucking stupid it had to be thought up by draugnar (krellin might too). Then again you are the kind of moron that might actually argue it.

And you are still posting during your 70 hour week. You are suck a liar

Haaaa ha ha ha! Putin, you moronic shit sucker. Let's see...both my daughters are honor role students, participate in school athletics and one is in a top-ranked marching band in the state. They also volunteer in a couple community activties. yes...my kids suck at school. lol They suck at school because my wife and I are active in their lives, and have trained them well.

I know Putin...in your demented world succeeding at school is dropping out and going on the government dole....so yes, by your standards, my kids suck at school.

Putin33 (111 D)
04 Oct 13 UTC
It's Honor Roll. Yes, I see you've trained your kids well. And I see grade inflation is still an epidemic. Probably because of violent, drunk breeders who think their kids deserve to be on the "honor role" (sic) no matter what.
krellin (80 DX)
04 Oct 13 UTC
Awwww....pooor litle shit sucking Putin. lol You think your insults hold any weight, as if you might convince me my children don't perform as they do? lol wow...that's a demented stretch even for an asshole like you! How miserable a human being are you, seriously?

And if you want to complain about grade inflation, and how bad the education system is, then why do you get so offended when I question teacher? There is not a single consistent, logical thing about anything you say. Then again, *every single* member of this forum has already identified you as a consistent, blatant purveyor of lies. You and facts have no thing in common, as you wade through life in a delusional fog of hatred.

That....and seriously, bro...go brush your teeth. It smells like you've been sucking shit again.

Putin33 (111 D)

"Alright, this is a particularly stupid thing to say."

I live in a public school district that is supposedly "bad" based on the criteria normally used to determine such things. Yet, having been in a large number of the public schools as a substitute teacher, the facilities are top-notch. The teachers are highly motivated and professional. The administrators are highly capable and first-rate. The kids are a mess. They fight constantly. The swear at everybody. They have no respect for anything or anyone. They don't listen to a damn thing anybody says. In such an environment, learning is impossible.

I currently work in a school-setting where parents routinely send their kids in dirty clothes or dirty diapers in which the kids quite obviously spent the night in, don't change pus-filled bandages on their kids after weeks of pleading to do so, don't bother calling the facility if their kids don't show up for school, repeatedly don't send in their kids to school even though transportation is provided, don't send in extra clothes for kids that are in toilet-training (but these kids have 15 pairs of high-end shoes), don't bother reading messages and notes sent home in the kids bookbags, don't bother signing important paperwork for kids about vaccines/medicines, etc; don't bother sending in medicines that the kids need to take every day, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Stupid? You want to tell me parents give a shit or the kids behave?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Putin,

Of course some of the blame lies with the families; how could it not? But, for every disrespectful student or negligent parent, I can find you an underfunded school, or an inadequate test, or a shitty teacher.

To place the blame of a very complex issue solely on one small subgroup is overly simplistic and just wrong.

Putin isn't a teacher...just another lie he's made up in the moment. He has the reading comprehension of a gerbil....much like the one he keep in a box for those lonely nights he spends alone (which would be every night).

That being said, I have, in fact, not criticized the teachers, or the schools. I have questioned the educational system they are forced to operate under, in which their creativity as a teacher, and their ability to teach a class the way they, as educators, want to has been limited and constrained by the adminstration and the government policies they are held to, which impose artificial standards by which to judge both students and teachers alike.

So once again, the illiterate Putin has no idea what he is talking about in his constant shit vomitting tirades.
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Oct 13 UTC
It's not a small sub-group. The pupils are by far the largest and most significant group involved in this complex issue. It's easy to say that everyone/everything is equally to blame. Funding and facilities keep improving, teacher qualifications keep becoming more rigorous (absurdly so), the explanatory variable(s) is obvious.
Putin33 (111 D)

The problem is families. If your parent(s) don't give a shit about whether you do well in school you won't do well in school. That's something no amount of throwing money at under performing schools can fix.

"Putin isn't a teacher...just another lie he's made up in the moment"

I've spent my entire adult life working in the education field in some capacity, mostly as an instructor. I've taught my own courses for 3+ years. I've subbed in urban public schools for 1 year. I currently work as an aid in a non-profit for kids with behavioral disabilities, organized as a school setting with classroom instructors and academic curriculum. Shut up.
krellin (80 DX)

Putin, of course, is also painting every student in the light of a few. The vast majority of students in this country do make it through school, do graduate, do go on to be productive citizens, etc.

And yet here we have a self-described educator casting hatred and disdain upon the very students he claims to care for. And he says it is *every* student that is at fault...and the teachers are to be held blameless.

What a fucking shit sucking ass clown.
krellin (80 DX)

"I've spent my entire adult life working in the education field in some capacity, mostly as an instructor. I've taught my own courses for 3+ years."

Bullshit Putin. there isnt' a thing you have ever said or done around here that would anyone even the slightest hope that you are an educator. Not even mentioning your complete failure at reading comprehension, or your insanely erroneous grasp of history or most any other topic, you are simply too much of a douchebag to be an educator. Also, your utter disdain for students makes it s laughable concept that you would spend your time attempting to teach them anything, as you have clearly presented to us that you have hatred towards all children and families.

No...this is just another one of your pathetic lies. Get a life. Nobody believes you.

I enjoyed both the School of War and Dojo of War experiences this summer. Doing both at the same time was idiocy on my part, and I still owe an EoG for Dojo. However, the amount of learning was good, and humbling. I am proposing another learning game.

Best way to make more money out of money?
So there's a bunch of money I'm not planning to spend for at least 2 years. Can I best keep it on a bank account as usual or are there more lucrative options that have about the same risk level as a bank account (practically none, since in this case the government returns the money if the bank goes boom)?

When is it OK to start watching basketball again?
I stopped watching basketball altogether after the LeBron James "Decision" and strike-shortened season turned the NBA into a soap opera telenovela. Is the nonsense over yet? Are people playing basketball again? Like they mean business? Is there a new Bill Laimbeer out there fouling out and taking a bow before a booing crowd?

reputation
i think you can get along fine until you pass a certain threshold of douchebaggery, then you get a reputation, and a flood of stories get brought up in everyday gossip and your cause is lost.

so does anybody have strategies for maximizing douchebaggery without losing reputation? i think the only hope is to conform. if you are a nonconformist, then any small thing will seem big because people will constantly hear of it because you are often talked about.
