In all honesty
We tried this on vdip a while ago but It never really worked out, I still think its a cool concept though and was wondering if people here would like to try it. The idea is a classic game where you aren't allowed I lie. That doesn't mean you won't misdirect, or mislead people, but you can't outright lie.

How to get a sitter
My wife has reached full term and could go into labor any day now. So I figured I would go ahead and try and get sitters now while I have time (so that others don't have to wait later). The problem is I have no idea how the process works. What steps do I need to take?

Italian A Tyrolia to Munich has got to be one of the worst early game moves.
Unless this is carefully arranged bilaterally, I cannot possibly see any merit to this whatsoever. Yet I've been hit by it not once but multiple times recently, so clearly someone disagrees... so can someone tell me what the point of this move is?

A second new WTA Game
I've got one that started up with a low pot (25 D) and I'll be looking to fill a second WTA 2-day phase game. Looking for takers and the buy-in is up for discussion depending on need.

The title's misleadingly provocative, but this is an interesting analysis of how China's political system is facing real challenges.

Do people understand the meaning of diplomacy?
This is a very clever game, but I have to say there is a fine line between being diplomatic and lying your butt off, and I have to say I'm not impressed by the way some players play.

There used to be a time when I used to keep refreshing my home page to see what was new on the forums. Now there's just so much trash talk and so many muted threads/people that my forum column on the home page is just empty. Screw you trolls. You ruined my webdip experience.

NEW GAME
Hi forum! I'm in two games right now and will drop down to 0 pretty soon. I'd like to start a new game with those interested. It will be:
WTA, non-anon (preferred), 2-day phases, 25 D buy-in. Please post interest below. I'll set up the game next week (likely), and if we generate enough interest, maybe multiple games.

I also have a finished basement and spare rooms. I could probably have 4-6 people crash with some measure of privacy. with two showers/bathrooms, 8 total people would be tolerable if we got an early enough start. And the bonus is, we could play poker once back at my place!

Draugnar (0 DX)

30 minutes north, in Fairfield. Go straight up 75 to 275 then west about 10 minutes and you are 1 mile from my house.

Ok. Chalk me up for a tentative. I can't commit entirely yet but it looks promising with my work schedule. I would miss out on any friday night activities but if there isn't any actual Diplomacy going on, it would be fine. Certainly the distance is manageable for me, and I'd like to meet some of you.

I have to work on friday, so the only thing that'll happen may be a dinner and/or drinks at night, but the actual diplomacy and official meetup won't be until saturday.

So unofficial schedule would be something like:
friday
unofficial dinner at restaurantx at 7pm
unofficial drinks at barx at 10pm.

Saturday
breakfast at venue, intros, meet people at 9am
tourney starts at ~10am
break at 1pm for lunch
tourney resumes at 2pm
break at 6pm for dinner
tourney resumes at 7pm
play until games over, 11pm max

sunday
breakfast at venue at 9am
tourney finals starts at ~10am
break at 1pm for lunch
tourney resumes at 2pm until someone needs to leave for a plane (hopefully we'll be done by 1, but the latest would be when the first person participating needs to leave).

That's VERY unofficial, but gives you guys an idea of what the weekend will comprise of.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

That's pretty close. I wouldn't recommend travelling further than that for a hotel, though. We'll likely be starting very early and staying very late on Saturday and people probably won't want a long commute to deal with.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Mar 12 UTC
I agree. I'm saying if they wanted to crash at my place (the college kids) they are more than welcome and I can even haul a few of them down with me. I actually could haul 5 more if two rode on pillows in the back of my Liberty. No seat belts, but I did worse in high school and college.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
22 Mar 12 UTC
Yeah, your place seems fine. Just saying I wouldn't recommend people stay any further than that.
fortknox (2059 D)
22 Mar 12 UTC
I could offer to have one or two people crash at my place. It is a tiny 2br apartment where one bedroom has 3 beds and my kids stuff crammed into, but I do have 2 couches (one of which is a queen sized futon. One bathroom where the hot water runs out REALLY fast, though, so that could pose a problem...
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Mar 12 UTC
Oh, no. Absolutely not. the only other places that far north that they could stay at are expensive anyhow. West Chester and Mason are outrageous prices and Hamilton and Middletown are way to far away. No, if you are gonna do hotel/motel, Northern KY has some off the 71/75 strip closer to downtown than my house for better prices than a safe place on the Ohio side of the river.
fortknox (2059 D)
22 Mar 12 UTC
I don't really want to give away my address, but here's directions the area of town I live in (opposite side of town from draug's, but closer to downtown): http://g.co/maps/4ecjq
fortknox (2059 D)
22 Mar 12 UTC
There is also a 'walking bridge' (old car bridge they switched over to a walking bridge) over the ohio, so it is feasible (though it'd be a long walk) to walk from a hotel in NKY to the stadium using all sidewalks. It'd be gorgeous if you are a fan of rivers...

Knoxy, dude, time to upgrade. You make good money and the divorce is done. Buy a house, man!

3 bedrooms, family room, living room, finished basement/man cave, two baths and a good hot water heater... Wife and I and the dogs get one bedroom. One is a guest room with a daybed (but sleeping bags can be used for another guest or two), one bedrrom is my dressing room with plenty of sleeping bag room, the living room is empty (can hold 6 or 8 sleeping bags :-) ), and the family room has a couch and love seat, plus the mancave has room for a few on the floor. In a national disaster, I could sleep 15 plus the wife and I. Now bathing that many would be a problem, but at least we could put a roof over lots of people's heads.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Mar 12 UTC
Knoxy, I love how the map takes you across the river and back to get downtown. But 275 to 471 is probably the quickest way in for you. My old place in Hebron was about the same 20 minutes from downtown. I miss northern KY, but I love the new and bigger (albeit much older) house with the huge yard.

So when the Apocalypse comes, we are to head to your place, D?
And does it feel good to talk after the self-imposed silence?
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Mar 12 UTC
Yes and yes. So long as you don't bring any zombies with you, 15 of you can crash at my place during the zombie apocalypse. My little doxies, Caleb and Sebastian, will act as alarms shoudl any zombies try crawling up the front yard or down the hill in back.

the only issue would be we need power to keep the sump pumps running in the basement (else some of the boarders would be sleeping in water), so we'd need to find a portable generator and lots of fuel for it. And someone has to bring the guns. I own no guns save nail guns and they require a compressor to do their thing. :-)

FK/Draug. I'm in. I'll contribute $100 and will offer to share a hotel room w/ anyone that can't swing the cost (i.e. I'll cover the room and just ensure there's double beds and/or sleeper sofa). Let me know where to send the money and I'll have it to you by next Friday.

I have never played FtF though, so this could be an exceptionally sobering experience; but one I look forward to.

Also, I'll be driving from Shaker (basically Cleveland) in case there's anyone that needs picked up along the way.
