Mods please investigate
I reported the following game http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=33245#gamePanel about two weeks ago and there has been no response. Apologies if this is. In the wrong place but if someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Cheers

Mod reports.
In a current game i am being threatened with having a mod report written on me because i refuse to draw with a single sc country that has nothing to do with a stalemate line.

can i have a mod report for this.......

I would go with the part where you threatened to stalemate us for 6 hours rather than take a few points less in a stalemate situation.

(To: Global, from Turkey) - Autumn, 1911: bull fucking shit im not going to draw then

(To: Global, from Turkey) - Autumn, 1914: kill england and i will draw otherwise i have about 6 more hours before i do anything today

those are your two quotes that were pissing everyone off. You didn't have be screaming to be a stubborn asshole who's complaining.

Refusing to draw may be annoying to you, but threatening to write a Mod report is clearly worse and, clearly unjustified for what he was doing; something perfectly legal.

That being said, you are acting like children. What are you getting from this silliness?

*ahem*

Ladies and gentlemen, while I have no particular stake in this dispute, I would like to make a request

CHILL THE FUCK OUT

One person didn't want to draw. Others did. The generally accepted, albeit unwritten, rule is that if the players are in position that doesn't change in x number of game years there is a forced draw. If the players that wanted to draw weren't willing to wait that long, they should wipe the other country if they can do so safely. IMO quibbling over how many members are in a draw as long as you're one of them is just idiotic, but then again I don't give a rat about my point / GR total.

This is why I don't play live games - among other reasons, I can't dedicate the time to make *sure* I can stick around long enough to finish it
drano019 (1003 D)

FS -

I was under the impression that a mod report could be tailored to the incident. I figured if you sent one that said "refused to draw a stalemate" that it would be different than saying "cheater" . If that's incorrect, I apologize. Basically I just wanted a mod to get in and draw the game since it was stalemated.
centurion1 (1478 D)
18 Aug 10 UTC
yes because my request was completely fucking unreasonable since England was absolutely integral to the stalemate line and i said i was going to keep going until you all quit and i could win.
drano019 (1003 D)
18 Aug 10 UTC
Essentially, yes, that's what you threatened centurion. You threatened 6 hours of waiting which is more than enough to have myself or France NMR and you win.

Regardless, I'm done with arguing this. Like I said to FS, I just wanted a mod in to end it because it was stalemated. Apparently we have different philosophies. I play to win/draw whereas you play for points/GR. Whatever floats your boat. It would just be wise for me to avoid playing with you in the future then.
centurion1 (1478 D)
18 Aug 10 UTC

It seems clear to me that what this argument needs is another random outside opinion from someone with nothing better to do :D.

I have to say that if I was in Cent's position I would have some sympathy for his actions. If England had played some beautiful moves and fought tooth and nail to be part of a glorious stalemate line then by all means I would have included him in the draw. However, from what I can see he joined a game that he was unable to dedicate his time to and missed a few vital turns because of it. He then spent much of the latter half of the game driving his tanks from Lands End to John o'Groats and back. Letting someone share in a draw they don't really deserve is.... frustrating.

However, maybe there was some intense first rate diplomacy going on from England that I'm not aware of. If that is the case I appologise, but I doubt it.

Actually, what I think this argument needs is dick jokes. Unfortunately, I lack creativity when it comes to humorous references to the male genitalia - however, I'm sure with the vast variety of skills the members of this board have, someone will rectify that shortly.

To be honest, while England wasn't part of the stalemate line, he DID play an important role in setting up the stalemate. He stopped fighting France and myself at just the right moment in order to enable France and I to set up the stalemate. If he had fought us any longer, Turkey would have ended up winning. Instead, he took a backseat and let us set up the stalemate line. That was my reason for wanted to let him live.

I did miss a couple turns which sucked and was completely unavoidable. That being said I fought as hard as I could and when faced with assisting Russia or facing destruction I chose to assist Russia. I did offer to try to help by seeking a convoy from Russia which was not feasible in the long run. I don't think anyone anticipated a stalemate. I also did not want to CD although it was tempting since it would've been the most desirable and painless outcome for everyone.

Anyways, as always I appreciated the experience, and I'm sorry all this happened on account of me. Since I'm down to 31 D as long as the pool is 30 or below I'll still be happy to join in any live games.

Why do you guys have to swear at each other so badly? There's in-game rage but needlessly calling everyone "fucking dicks" continuously is rather childish and it cheapens your arguments.

I agree with the majority of people on this topic though: if there's a stalemate that should be accepted, it is grossly unfair and unsportsmanlike to state that you have the time to just sit around waiting for people to get bored or have to leave because they have a life in the real world. If you were playing the board game and were sat around a table, it would be completely ridiculous for everyone to sit there for hours until the first person had to leave. In any practice of life there is, and always should be, an accepted standard of behaviour and decency. It only degrades you as a person and a player if you can't follow basic principles like that.

Calling Female Diplomats
Greetings. I recently got into a discussion with a friend about why Diplomacy (and many other strategy games, for that matter) are primarily played by men. I have yet to meet another female who actively plays this game other than myself, and would like to hear your thoughts on the subject. Men are welcome to post as well.

How about a nice game of chess?

The rules:
Post your move in standard chess notation. You must wait at least three moves before posting again(ie: if you move as white, someone else has to move as white before you can move again). Illegal moves don't count; stupid ones do
