I got 2048 on a couple of phone apps but both didn't let me continue after, erg! With proper discipline and the right strategy (as above) getting to 2048 isn't too hard. Just be methodical. For what it is worth, it is the right arrow that I avoid as I use the left side to build up with the bottom left corner holding the biggest value.

Its the up that I avoid. the A S and D keys are on the same line of the keyboard, which makes it more convenient then having to squeeze my fingers into the asw or dsw are awd.

I only scream when it decides the last number should be a 4 when I needed the normal 2 or when it decides to put the number in the bottom row when I had to move left/right (depending on your preferred side) because there were only tow options left, up (which I never do) or the opposite side).

Man, isn't life just like that. I said "getting to 2048 isn't too hard" and then spent a couple of hours staying up way to late failing to get past 1024! Damn you 2048!

FINALLY! Got 2048 with a high score of 21800. You definitely have to use the corner technique. Towards the end, you really have to be careful to not let 2s and 4s pile up, otherwise you'll get stuck with a cluster of high numbers and a cluster of 2s and 4s with no way to combine them to make more space.

Highscore of 32468. I swear to god towards the end the game new exactly where I couldn't afford to let the new piece spawn, and it spawned there:
Only 1 of 5 potential spawns will hurt me, it spawns there, few moves later only 1 of 3 spawns would hurt me, it spawns there, couple moves later, I set up the only whole to be next to 2 2s, and it spawns a 4.

Since I'm now able to consistently get to 20000 , I'm now trying to get the least amount of points possible. I just got 304.

140, that got boring quickly, guess I can say I'm finally done with the 2048 game

My housemate and I had been trying to lose as quickly as possible, but hadn't managed to get below 152.

I just spammed left and right keys until it was no longer possible and then tried to see the shortest amount of movements required to get to game over.

It would normally result in a score between 200 and 700.

You can't quite until you've gotten the black 4096 block! Now I'm wondering if 8192 will also be black.

I can't get 2048.

I knew I had been playing it too long (about 30-40 minutes, I think?) when I closed the tab I was playing it in and was momentarily confused about why the other tabs on my Chrome browser didn't merge together............

@Chaqa: Just keep on trying. It takes a while to get the hang of it. A bit of luck sometimes helps so keep at it. The method described by ghug and tincan is a pretty good way to go. Try to keep your largest number in the corner and build a descending snaking pattern off of it. Be careful not to leave yourself in a position where you must pull that largest number out of the corner (in the end game, making such a mistake is often quickly fatal). Also, sometimes, maybe after a massive board clearing combo, you might find that changing the direction of your snake is possible or even better (while still keeping your largest in the corner).

4096! with yellow tiles: 1024, 512, 256 and score of 59604.

I've gotten 4096 twice now. First time was 4096, 512, 512, and a bunch of crap for a score of 52988. But this second time was 4096, 2048, 512, 256, 128, 64, 64... for a score of 71736. So dang close!

I really want to see the 8192 block
