Is there such a thing as a 5-minute Full Press World Diplomacy Game for people who can type really fast?

There is. It's happened many times. Usually about half the players involved don't turn up though.

Please don't make me have to involve the moderators. Just vote draw. This game is stalemated.

hmmm, that's interesting, are there actually established stalemate lines in a world game? I tend to be of the opinion that world maps are completely unbalanced and so I'm doubtful there can ever be a true stalemate. Though I will give you that game is as close as I've seen.

So long as nobody stabs one another, I don't see any openings.

@jmo: No. I don't know if there are official "established stalemate lines" for the world map. However, this game has had extremely minimal change for at least 5-10 years worth of turns. There is so little chance of anything else happening in this game. I can understand why one of the players may have wanted to push things this far but for 2 players to withhold their draw votes at this stage is completely beyond me. This game should be over - nothing is happening and that is not changing.

Well, I'm not drawing until Frozen Antarctica is revived and allowed a place in the global community!

Sarg, I'm pretty sure mods only intervene with a forced draw when there is absolutely no change in a year or two worth of moves. Unfortunately, Brazil has made some gains in the last couple years, and Canada seems to have begun pushing south with his fleet. It might be worth checking with the mods to see when they would be willing to draw the game, but based on past forced draws, I'd guess this case does not merit such action yet.

The rule is three consecutive years.

But, I think this situation counts because there has been so so little meaningful change. I did not say I would call on the mods immediately - merely that the game should be drawn and I should not have to rely on the mods to help in this situation. The obtuse players who have not pressed draw should do it themselves.

That fight is inconsequential to the stalemate lines that have been in place. India has no reason to withhold a draw - there seems no possible motive for India to force the game to continue.

India is my mate and wants me revived and have a seat at the world community table. Don't you get it?

@bo_sox48: I'm wondering why West Canada hasn't tried supporting India into the Pacific since they seemed to have played "nice" for a while now. That could possibly open up the Gulf if pressure was applied to Central America and the W. coast of S.A.

Also, I'd like to know why Mont didn't move to mex with fleet support...

Kuslag, careful how much you comment. This is an ongoing game. I'd hate to see a mod drop in just to give a warning, or worse, close the thread so that it becomes buried so that Sarg's peers do not see his plea. The PM system is unmonitored though, I believe.

I agree that Kusaig's comments are out of line (although, still, there is no explicit rule that I can see forbidding this, merely an etiquette issue) but all of my comments have been singularly focused on the issue of a draw and I have not discussed in-game movements, etc.

The only thing keeping this going, as far as I can see, is a player who is waiting out to see if he can win by people going into CD. This game is pathetic now.

1. There is no such thing as 'Gunboat Rules', at least certainly not listed anywhere on this website.
2. Therefore this thread is not a 'clear' violation of anything.
3. Hoping that I 'get my points wiped to zero' is petty and comes across as a poor baby who had his candy taken away and now wants others to have their candy taken away so you're charging round the playpen looking for things to report to Mommy and Daddy.
4. Anyway, thanks for reporting it to the mods, I'm going to do that anyway today or tomorrow - as it's quite clear the only player left in the game with any sort of solo threat is simply waiting around for people to CD.

India here. I have voted draw now, last night , before I saw this thread. Why so late? At all stages beforehand I felt there was still chances for the map to change for atleast 1 of the players involved, which could lead to chances for me. However now Canada's made peace with Brazil again, I do think it's now stuck, so I voted draw. But I do think that's only just happened.

The only reason I started this thread was to point out that the game had been, within fair reason, stalemated for quite some time and that I was inclined to asking for moderator help but that I hoped that any player withholding a draw vote would be reasonable and vote to draw so that the moderator's time didn't have to be wasted.

This is not a gunboat anymore, nothing is happening. Every nation has had almost the same movements, with no effect, for many years now. The game is stalemated. It should be over.

I didn't start this thread for a discussion of tactics and strategy - and have not partaken in such. The site's 'Rulebook' says to apply common sense to all situation and that is what I was doing here, to try and resolve this situation without bothering the moderators - you've now ruined that effort, Draugnar, with your petty complaint to the mods. If anything, your complaint only shows that you haven't approached this with the common sense the rules ask for - and is exactly why you will never be a moderator.

I was under the impression that having discussions in the Forum about any game, gunboat, tugboat or no boat, whilst the game was in progress was not encouraged at all

"not encouraged at all" is different to a 'clear violation'.

Draugnar's language smacks of a heady American marine launching into a situation gun first shooting now and asking question later, if at all.
