Support move Question
If a unit is going to attack my army, with support, can I 'move' to the supporting unit (in this case sweden) to block the move/support move? Will doing this thwart a move into my territory since I have tried and failed to take the unit he was supporting the move from, causing me to still be in my land (norway)?
Does that work? Or make sense?

The case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn: Or, how I turned into Sicarius
This has the stench of a set-up, and a rather disgusting one - using rape.

Eric Mead and Nathan Barnes have set up a site for pod casts on Diplomacy play. They just interviewed me on the play of Italy in the third segment. (I think my interview starts a little more than half way through the podcast).

Playing Italy... does anyone have issues playing Italy?
Check out this link that Edi Brison shared:
http://diplomacycast.com/files/other/DiplomacyCastEp3.mp3

start around minute 20 for a great conversation and detailed explanation of how to play well with Italy. Much of this will be boring for experienced players, but newer players or early to mid-level players should listen to improve their games dramatically.

Orders Not Being Recieved . . . .
Are any other players experiencing issues where orders after end of turn ARE NOT correlating with the orders you submitted? A couple of other players are saying “that’s not the orders I submitted” in more than one game and now I’ve experienced the same thing. I have 75+ games on this site under my belt and previously have calked up the incident as player error but this seems utterly peculiar to have actually been submitted under any circumstances.

Provocatively Ignorant Political Thread Title With Unnecessary Question Mark?
Tired and morally objectionable claim made in the thin veil of a poorly-worded question? Mention of pseudo-scientific evidence and popularity of ignorant belief, segueing into totally absurd conclusion about the world which I seek to defend at length because I've already made up my mind. What do you think?

Spend a third of that time in London. Great city, lots to see and do. Go to Edinburgh for a day, maybe two, than get out. Rent a car and drive up to Lock Ness. Avoid all the silly monster stuff, stay in small coastal towns like Fort William. Also check out Brighton south of London.

I'm into history, culture, art, and music. I'd also like to see some typical tourism spots, like the london bridge, oxford, ect (it's my first time in UK).

@general

im not sure if i can rent a car. what is the age limit for renting cars? though if possible, i would certainly. (though i need to get use to the reversed drive ways)

im flying into edinburgh, i thought about going to northern ireland (guess this is where belfast comes in)

the idea is to head south until i reach london. im flying in on 22nd of may and must be at london on the 7th of june. is 5 days enough to see london? or should i use at least a week?

idealist (680 D)
15 May 11 UTC
oh and id love to see the british country side ;-]

where would be good places to stay? my friends suggested youth hostels so i can meet "very interesting people"

i wonder where id stay in the more rural areas? is it impolite to knock someone's door and pay for lodging?
Draugnar (0 DX)

I thought you said you had three weeks for yourself? Is part of that forcibly dedicated to London or something?
idealist (680 D)

well i have to meet up with someone and fly out of europe with her. i wanted to go to london anyways, so it wasnt troublesome at all.
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 May 11 UTC
So where is the three weeks? I only see 17 days, two of which are flight days, so more like 15 or two weeks.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

I would say you can stay here on your way past, but I can't see why you'd stop off in Leamington; I don't have a nice house and (the clincher) I don't know where I'll be during that time!

I'd suggest going to visit Bristol if you can - its beautiful and has some real classic touristy stuff. Particularly of note would be the Brunel creations - The Clifton Suspension Bridge, SS Great Britain and as you leave Temple Meads Station.

well i get a week in london (ill be in london starting from the 7th until the 13th). i mean its not exactly 3 weeks. its more like 2 weeks (wherever i want to be) and a little less than a week in london. i planed to stay in london for a week anyways, so it works out

thanks figs ;-] im still working out the details. i suppose train is the main transportation in UK? in US, one drives
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 May 11 UTC
Well, why not try to take the Chunnel across to France beofre that week and hit something on the northern edge while you are at it.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
15 May 11 UTC
Most people drive here as well, but trains will be fine - especially as you're likely to be going between the big cities.
What did you decide about going north out of Edi?
I'd love to say go to the lochs, but I haven't been yet so can't comment (going in July).
Something I found worked quite well when I visited Scotland last was to leave on the earliest train you could, because then you can get off part-way and have almost a day looking at some partway city, before taking a later connection down to your destination.
idealist (680 D)
15 May 11 UTC
@ draug. i cant. i dont have a visa to europe. my passport does not permit any entrance to europe without a visa =/

@ figles. im thinking abt heading to northern ireland. orathaic suggested belfast. thats a good point, too. i will definitely do that.
You've got to see Stone Henge! It's about an hour West of London and there's plenty of coach trips to there if you don't have a car (the trains don't get close enough).

Go and see a big cathedral, the bigger the better.

If you're up there on the Scottish boarders, go and see Hadrian's Wall.

If you get to Nottingham have a pint in "Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem" - the oldest inn in England. It's cut into the sandstone rocks beneath Nottingham Castle. Legend says one of the crusades started from there ~1000 years ago.

You might like the Imperial War Museum, Duxford or one of the RAF Museums. there's one in London and one at Cosford, near Birmingham.

And Dragnar's right, take a trip through the chunnel if you get the chance.
Octavious (2701 D)

Damned shame its not a month later. Stone Henge at summer solstice is quite an experience. Imagine a combination of Pagans, hippies, anarchists, and drugged up university types dancing through the night to the random beat of drums, while lunatics leap from stone top to stone top in the background. Stone henge via a coach trip is... well, it's a bit pants to be honest. Unless you set up a private viewing in advance by pretending your a student of pre-history or something ;)

Try and make time to visit the South West though. Punting up the river Avon by Bath has to be done (and it has a damned good pub up stream), or visiting Tintagel castle. Bristol is... ok...

Forget London. Go to Somerset and Yorkshire for some real English country. Wish I could visit. Make sure to see Whitby and York. Scarborough too.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
16 May 11 UTC
Somerset's lovely, but I wouldn't build an entire trip around it!
The hills aren't as impressive/nice as other similar regions (dartmoor particularly) and whilst Cheddar has some impressive cliff's, I somehow doubt you're going to go climbing during a tour of the UK!
fiedler (1293 D)

Chunnel is very cool - you feel like you're in a JB movie!

I second the imperial war museum - very cool, top notch holocaust display - fun fun fun!

@ draug. not a US passport, unfortunately ;-] i know, theres a lot of merit at having a US passport. personally though, i would want the UN passport.

Isn't there in the war museum a clockwork tiger taken from the Tipu Sultan which depicts a tiger mauling an English soldier? Also, I believe it actually made noises until it was damaged in the Blitz.
