In a nutshell he predicts the re-assendance of Russia, and Poland which he says is already on the up-and-up will receive massive support from the US, it's ally, to balance the threat, which will further fuel economic growth and military armanent.
The book is full of ideas which I think would resonate with Diplomacy players. A lot of it sounds like the game we play here, such as powers uniting to stop a stronger power, and taking advantage of other powers that have gone into CD (so to speak, he never uses the term CD). That is my impression after a few pages ;-)

Ok. I am reading a lot of papers for my master thesis, but i don't think you all want to hear about developing authentic leadership at a a police force :)

But just to share, did you al know owning leadership caracteristics are +/- 30% genetic predisposition and 70% environmental influences? At least, that is what is being claimed from reseach :)

Abge - I have something around 20 books I have to read this semester, plus research stuff, so I don't have much free time. Plus, I haven't really developed the time management skills to do so haha

I think "there is no such thing as reading for fun anymore" was meant to apply to themselves and other students.

Tolstoy by A.N Wilson (a very detailed biography, although I find the author's deep and unveiled contempt for Tolstoy's later religious/social views a little odd)
"Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001" by Steve Coll

Next up on my reading list is "Off the Books: The Underground Economy of the Urban Poor" by Sudhir Venkatesh (I read his "Gang Leader for a Day" a few years back and was fascinated. The chapter on drug gang economics in Freakonomics was based on his work).

The Underground Economy is a good book.

I'm currently hacking my way through various Economic and financial textbooks and other such things :)

Life, by Keith Richards.

Get "Gang Leader For A Day". There are a few battles in there, but between drug gangs and not armies. It's a very fun, easy, enjoyable, and entertaining read and you will learn a little bit about economics.

I picked up "More iPhone 4 Development : Further Explorations of the iOS SDK" - David Mark & Friends and "The iPhone Developer's Cookbook" by Erica Sadun.

The first book was great, even with no objective C experience. I'm about halfway through this sequel and have some really cool stuff in the pipes. Possibly looking to develop something for a webDip platform, but I need to get more comfortable as a graphic artist.
