Important Update on the Face to Face Tournament in Boston
1. The date will be June 10-12; the location will be the Boston, Mass. metropolitan area
2. 19 people interested so far
3. I am talking / negotiating with a possible venue in Cambridge, Mass. where Dip tournaments and other games have been played in the past. It is a bookstore 2 blocks from the subway and near lots of restaurants, Harvard, and MIT. Check it out at http://www.pandemoniumbooks.com/. There is also a Boston Massacre annual Dip tournament held in June or July so if we don’t get enough Webdip people for our tournament, we might wasn’t to think about joining that tourney.
4. Several people have stepped up to volunteer: Abgemacht will be the tournament director; The Wizard will be assisting him. BZD and MM are bouncers, if we need any. I am overall coordinator and hospitality queen, reserving the venue, getting food, and organizing volunteers. Abgemacht is also doing the registration/ fee collection. Anyone else wishing to volunteer, please PM me.
5. We have decided to collect a $25 registration fee so we can get a headcount of how many people are serious, and so we can put down a deposit on the venue. Abgemacht is collecting the fee via personal check/snail mail (sorry we couldn’t get a PayPal setup). Email him at [email protected] and he will send you the mailing address
6. IMHO before placing a deposit on a venue, I think we should have at least 12 to 14 people registered. I welcome other ideas/comments on this. But certainly if too few people register and the tournament is not held, you will get your money back.
7. I have invited Kestas and offered to fund-raise part of the cost of his trip, but unfortunately he will unable to attend.
