I would like to suggest Amsterdam, Barcelona, Venice, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Istanbul, London, Lisbon, Milan, Nice as I have never been there (with the exception of Amsterdam but I include it anyway cause it rocks) and I can easily access them with a fairly cheap air-ticket :)

i'm willing to travel to several of those cities.

So the question is, do people generally prefer London?

Any way to book a bargain basement cruise that hits a lot of those cities and then at night we play Dip?

I would be tempted by London or Spain/Portugal, though not sure how to convince my wife that a second webdip diplomacy trip in one year is a good idea regardless of how many great arguments I come up with... I will watch this thread, though, and if I can pull it off I'll try to squeeze my way into the mix with you all.

On a serious note, how do the logistics of this kind of tournament work, how long do they last, do people stay a a big house, do people hire hotel rooms, how many games are played, is it a cup format or a league - do people generally get pissed, etc etc, I'd like to play face to face but don't know what to expect.

maniac, all that depends on the amount of initial interest.
let's see how many are initially interested, then choose date and city, then search for hotel/house opportunities in the selected city, then figure out the format of the games.

alternatively if someone has a big house somewhere and wants to pop up and say "come all stay with me" then pls don't hesitate to do it!

the same goes for anyone that actually owns a hotel or a conference center or anything like that :P

If you play in/near London, and need an extra man, I could play. I love the idea. I'm just quite young, so it could be weird... : /

@hellalt - it may be possible that I can get us a house. My business partner goes away for about 4 months of the year and apart from a friend of his that stays there, the house is empty - I could ask him if he wouldn't mind a few guests, but I'd need to know likely number, duration of stay etc. House is on the edge of cannock chase, staffs, england. Nearest airport would be Birmingham, I could collect people from there. Obv all this is dependant on my business partner agreeing.

It's a large house in a village called Slitting Mill, near Rugeley Staffordshire

I've been to Haynes Park once, its about 1 hour north of London and 40 minutes south of Luton airport-is it near there?

I don't think I can make it to Birmingham...

Given that a FtF tournament was originally hellalt's idea I hope this one takes off so that he can participate.

I'm assuming that a London/SE FtF might be taking place at end Jan 2011, so will depend on how that goes as to whether I commit to other FtF events...
