I thought it was a courtesy in their lands. I'm tinkering with a matter transmuter that will turn waste products into bundt cake, so maybe that'll solve the problem.

Only because TBroadley forgot the first and second rules of transdimensional engineering and use.

1. Never send anything through you don't want to come back.
2. What goes in one side comes out the other.

Number 1 applies mostly to usage, but is a good rule to remember when installing a transdimensional portal as location is *everything*. Trash compactors and toilets are the biggest offending installations followed by drains and rain water spouts.

Number 2 is important in that horizontal installation makes the portal tend to be one way until the beings in the parallel dimension figure out how to send things back with enough velocity to clear the portals rim on the return trip. Whereas vertical installation just acts like a door and at least doesn't run the risk of dropping an anvil (or in this case, a load) on some nasty TDB's head.

Alright then Draugnar, I'll get right to building a sideways toilet.
