it is called the Cigar club to evoke a gentleman's atmostphere, like the one prevailed in Yalta where the World was divided among smokes of cigars :)

Thoughts? I, for one, am very satisfied with the ruling, and hope that it becomes a part of the economy if it is ever legalized.

MadMarx Invitationals
There are some people that owe me a game, and some people I owe a game. I will start two or three games in the near future. If I owe YOU a game, please remind me in this thread, thanks!

I remember some of the people I owe a game, but I don't want to forget anyone and it's been a while since I've started any new games.

how exactly do you owe somebody a game?
MadMarx (36299 D(G))

I told them I'd play with them once I start joining new games again.

you owe me a game

i'm just kidding no you don't.

want to play anyway though.

i've never played you mm.

if we do play: i hope your ass draws austria; i want to see what you do with it.
peterwiggin (15158 D)

pshh I'd take Austria over Italy or maybe even England any day. I want to see MM play Italy.
Thucydides (864 D(B))

more specifically: i want him to draw austria even as me and my best friend draw turkey and russia. lmao.

I kick ass with Austria, so you better hope I don't get it! :-P

Just kidding... Anyway, I have to fulfill past obligations before starting up new obligations, but I certainly would be honored to play you (I'm guessing, though I'm relatively ignorant about such things, so I'll reassess that statement after our game ends!) sometime soon, if not in this months new games, you'll be first on my list for the next set of games I get going.

peterwiggin, I suck at Italy, so I'm sure you do want to see me play Italy...

04 Oct 10 UTC
MM: I'd love to play you too, if only to see what it takes to get first on the GR list by a large margin, but you seem to have a lot of commitments already, and I'm in about as many games as I can handle right now.

MM - I think you owe me a game, but we might have played it since - up to you?

FYI - For these games, my main question of people is if you can handle 36 hour phases or if you strongly prefer and/or require 48 hour phases (or 24 hour phases).

All games will be anonymous, WTA. I lean towards 143 D in this situation, for a buy-in, but I also want to start one large pot game of at least 1,000 D to join.

We've played I drew austria and you where Russia and promised to show this new jugger. Then you, Italy and Turkey gang raped me short and sweet. You may not owe me a game but I would like another crack at being involved in a game with you once you've meet your other obligations.
Aye, the legendary MadMarx is taking challengers! I'm in podium's boat, minus the prior gang rape. You don't owe me a round, but I'd be interested in a round.
...and then I read the 143 point buy-in. @_@ Suuuuch a scrub am I.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
04 Oct 10 UTC
Ah, yes, I remember that game, Italy and Turkey could not be reasoned with, I was merely their pawn but have since developed a spine and would never allow you to be treated like that again! ;-)

Hmmm, I don't want too many future obligations... I've committed to Thucydides, but from here on out I will just make a note of the request, hope that works podium, sorry.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
04 Oct 10 UTC
President Eden, we all have to pay our dues! :-P

A single or double digit GR goes a long way too...

PS - I may play one game with a very low buy-in, we'll see...

A pawn who became the king. Thanks to some bad play by France and Italy when they could have stopped you near the end. I'll let you meet other challengers for now.And when your game load is down would like to play again with you.
Um... 257. Still a relative newcomer to the scene. A mere 400 D counting what I have in play. I could multiply it by 50 and not be where you are. I'd be easy pickings... I'm sure the dues will be paid eventually, but I don't quite fit the bill yet.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
04 Oct 10 UTC
podium, I was just kidding around, I didn't remember the specifics of our game...

PE, I'm not looking for easy pickings, just good games with people that are unlikely to NMR or CD, I use GR to be a relatively good indicator of that type of player.
Julien (2065 D)
04 Oct 10 UTC
can I play as well? I've almost finished all my current games and I'd be delighted to get to know sb with such a high GR.

I'll note your interest, Julien, thanks.
I have three resignations, one of which was my own fault (in the sense that I signed up for a game that lasted all night... bastards waited for me to resign and two-way drew).
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
04 Oct 10 UTC
I am not a fan of resignations. I don't play live, so I understand that changes things, but still not a fan.
Understandable. I've had legitimate extenuating circumstances for all of them -- power outage, called into work, and then the fall-asleep-at-keyboard debacle -- but yeah, 4% resignations is a rather nasty spot on my record.

A Metagaming Game
I want to organise a game where Italy at the start divides the other 6 players into 3 pairs who must then metagame for the win. No-one may disclose their metagame ally, nor who they are not allied with. People can only comment about other pairs (real or imaginary). So only Italy knows exactly what are the 3 alliances.

The game will be anon WTA of course. Anyone interested?

The 2010-11 NHL Season Starts In 5 Days...Predictions and Picks and the Posteason--OH MY!
Yep--just a few more days and The Good Ol' Hockey Game starts rolling again! So let out your fandomonium and let's fill the next few days with some talk about teams that might actually WIN (Mets finished 79-83 today and the 49ers are basically done before they began at 0-4, so that's the end of THEM for a while...) and what you think. Who'll surpise? Who'll disappoint? Scoring leaders? Postseason picks? Cup winner? Will teams be moving North soon? Faceoff Time! ;)

Anyone up for a highly rated Ghost Ranking game?
I saw that some players did this last month so I'd like to start one this month. Game will be based of the October rankings list. I'm 68 so I'd like to find players somewhere in the same neighborhood. Details can be decided here as no game has been created yet.

EOG Statement from Sunday Gunboat Rematch
Michigan Man, when you're sitting second strongest in a winner take all match, it's generally not a good idea to continue hostilities against the third strongest power, or he may decide to throw the game to the first place power just to spite you.
