@Eden - it's a Europe thing. They tend to retire earlier and get more shininess from the government - higher vacation rates are mandated by law, not meekly given by overly generous employers:

I post from work checking the forum when I need a break, which is why you'll see my posts in spurts. As far as your insults regarding where I spend my time "working"... Not even worth responding to. I am a consultant so, much like you, I take off whenevr I feel like it. Although I respect my client's enough to not leave them just because I want to go do something. I do schedule my time away from them when possible, but I have told them I was taking time whether they like it or not. I just did it for my nephew's wedding with my present primary client.

Oh, and I officially got three weeks a year at my last non-consulting employer because I negotiated it along with my monthly transportation/parking costs as part of my employment agreement.
