We can use this for commentary from now on. Why won't people see this?

well, England just got boned... Russia and Austria need to work something out to hold down Turkey (Italy wildcard). some one (Germany) should take a stab at the free Scandinavian peninsula... anything else, John?
Centurian (3257 D)
12 May 09 UTC
Fbgav... you aren't involved in this are you?
Fbgav (206 D)
12 May 09 UTC
no, thats the point of commentary... this isnt a "public press" game
Centurian (3257 D)
12 May 09 UTC
Well i have no problem with your commentary. But the idea is the commentators have set goals to influence in the game.
Fbgav (206 D)
12 May 09 UTC
I dont like picking sides... I just kinda want to see how things go from what I am seeing
djbent (2572 D(S))
12 May 09 UTC
fbgav - with all due respect this is a kind of public press game. and in any case, you're not part of the game, and you are asked to not post in this thread. that was quite explicit in the other thread but didn't get repeated here.

so, for you and others: please do not post in this thread unless you are a commentator on this game, or a player bumping the thread.
djbent (2572 D(S))
12 May 09 UTC
speaking of comentary - aoe3rules, why didn't you add your commentary instead of bumping? we haven't heard from your expert opinion in a minute!
hellalt (70 D)

i like the french moves. italy and austria should stop fighting and pick france and turkey as their enemies respectively. turkey although with 7 scs doesnt seem capable of achieving much. germany and england are disappointing.
Fbgav (206 D)
12 May 09 UTC
I'd like to apologize then, I found the other thread...
just a follow-up on how do I become a commentator (obviously for a new/next game)

but dj, how was I expected to know that this is a semi-public press thing... espically how airborne was asking for commentary honestly someone needed to say something.
and leading off with a "you're not part of the game" is kinda tactless considering how everyone was asking for input and noone was giving any
Sorry I tried to help

consider this a bump... a very long bump
djbent (2572 D(S))
12 May 09 UTC
that's why i said with all due respect, since i could understand that you got confused. no harm done. it was kind of hard to round up enough people for this game, but maybe more folks are interested now? maybe you could try to organize a new one?
Centurian (3257 D)
12 May 09 UTC
Sorry Fbgav, maybe next time, check the forums. If you would like to participate I'm sure no one would protest if you sided with England. No one else will the poor bugger.

Basically I'm holding off on commentary because I think Chrisp is going to make an important decision and I don't want to waste me breath if I don't know where his mind is at. But I do know that he shouldnt be worried about that French fleet.

Austria- You should probably show Italy some leeway, see if you cant get back into this;
Fbgav (206 D)
12 May 09 UTC
no harm no foul kinda thing... I just cant help but read "with all due respect" without a hint of sarcasm in the serif of the font.
But I would kinda imagine its kinda hard getting seven people for a game sometimes... then getting 7 more, kinda rough.

I hope this works out for everyone involved and good luck
I hate to post right after you've asked non-participants not to (and I probably shouldn't) but I'd just like to say that the commentary twist makes this really fun to watch, and thank the people involved for making this public. :-)

and what a turn!

the german team fumbles, missing an incredible shot on goal! france was there for the assist, bu the krauts have let their fans down on this one. the blue teams continues in its banner streak, mopping up the english team - tho the gains this turn may be temporarily rolled back.

in the south, italy finally makes the breakthrough they've been trying for, but at the expense of an austrian fleet behind enemy lines.

russia makes the right move to try to help austria, signally clear intentions to work against th turk, but loses black sea! and turkey is still trying to help italy, tho with a misplaced order it does no more than signal intention. still, you've got to wonder if italy is getting the short end of the stick here.

similarly on the north side germany needs to be way of france expanding too quickly. but for now, it's all good.

more after the break!

On the idea of another, similar game, I think I'd like to be a player in that one. Back to the action:
England is fighting back Tenaciously, Giving no quarter to the foreign invaders. For every territory he loses, he gains one back elsewhere. What a show!
Germany has had a slip-up, but It might have been purposeful. Will he work with france to demolish the bangers & mash? Or will he Become the pink team's saviour, and mop up the pieces of the dirty frog-eaters?
Italy's made some nice leeway, and that unit behind his lines is nothing to worry about at this stage. With a build of his own coming up, at the very least, he can expect a swap with Austria.
But Is the Austrian about to turn the tables? With no foothold in the balkans, We may just be privy to history in the making, folks.
djbent (2572 D(S))
12 May 09 UTC
it's true onar, this game has become quite interesting. russia needs to start thinking about life post-england - hell, so do france and germany. i'd have to say tho that the germans are not in their right mind of they're thinking of bailing on their beneficial alliance with the french. but you never know.

france and germany may want to start thinking about what their backside will look like once austria is done. turkey may press the fight against russia - or russia may join in and attack germany. meanwhile italy shouldn't be much of a match for france, but with a solid ally to the east, it could be a good clash.

austria has played a magnificent game but unfortunately the tide was against the red team. they may pull something out yet, but it's looking slim.

Can an unsupported navy unit convoy when it has been atatcked by another unit?
http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=11227

Check out the English Channel move... I would not have thought this was allowable as the naval units 'activity' for the round is defending the ENG, rather than defending AND convoying. Can a moderator cvheck this out please?

How (exactly) does the '/draw' voting work?
Do draw votes expire? (I assume not)
When exactly are they processed with respect to ending the game? (The message appears immediately, but does that mean that the last vote to draw ends the game immediately? Or at end of the next turn? end of the next build phase?)

guide to special cases
Is there a nice guide to special cases and examples of this and that country configuration and set of orders somewhere? I read the manual at diplom.org and it didn't resolve it.

My question is if A1 supports A2 into B, but B attacks A1 and A2 is also dislodged, does A2 go into B?
