Orders not being registered properly?
Does this happen often? I support an area only to have that support not registered, so it's taken. I've also entered orders once only to have the game "hold" all of my units. Does this happen to often? If so, does this irk anyone else?

I'm so drunk...
...I can't claim any responsibility for my turns tonight/this morning/whatever. 3 beers, a vodka martini, a wild turkey, and a glenfiddich 12 year old scotch. So everyone forgive my really fucking stupid moves. OK?

The Forum
Is it me or is the forum kind of slow. I mean there hasn't been a huge 6 posts in 10 seconds topic lately. Maybe I'm insane. And I believe the Ameican Ecomony is at its peak in History.

Quick Question for a mod
Is there a limit on the number of responses that can be posted on a single thread? If there is, I would think that "The Diplomacy People-Who-Are-Awesome Awesome-Off" would be approaching it.

I informed you of mass anti-government protests in iceland.
most of you thought my predictions were hope only.
well icelands government has collapsed.
I dont want any back-pats, I want you to know that I am intelligent, knowlegeable about world trends and geopolitics, and sometimes what I say will happen happens.
wooooo (926 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
You need a comma at the end there. "what I say will happen [,] happens.
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
The 'official; reason is economic pressure.

gee could it have had anything to do witht he fact that hundreds of thousands of people were protesting? you know, seiging parliment and such http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_MzqH_Ki_NsI/SXh6JxF1nII/AAAAAAAABCE/V2qoTGXvWpI/s1600-h/anarchist+iceland+riot.jpg

Oh Jacob. When are we doing the "1 hour turn" game?
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
maybe I am.
but lets talk about the issue, not me
wooooo (926 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
Can we talk about commas?

If you truly were informed you'd know that a government collapse in a parliamentary country isn't too unusual when the people are really pissed off. It would have been a miracle if that party had remained in power. They even technically are, since there haven't been elections. "Just" the cabinet resigned.

When there really is a violent revolution I'll say you're right. This is how anyone would expect the situation to develop.
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
anyone, except everyone here apparently.

and its not 'just' the cabinent
Invictus (240 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
It is.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7851415.stm

You think the whole government's of the country's gone? In a parliamentary country "government" is what the ruling party's called. So the "government" did collapse in the sense that the Icelandic cabinet no resigned, but there's no collapse of law and order. You look very ignorant here, Biff.

Jacob (2466 D)

woooooo - I don't think I'm going to try any more 1 hour games. All of the ones I've tried so far have ended in draws because people left prematurely.
Centurian (3257 D)

I assume democracy at work isn't the revolution you envisioned Sicarius. Dingleberry is right, you are like Nostradamus. Everyone takes random out of context things from his works and interpret them in a way that makes it sound like a prediction, but only ever in hindsight because that was never what anyone really meant.

Wow, someone thinks a whole lot of themselves. Commas on the other hand, never seek glory, or brag about their importance.

Invictus is correct. The meaning of a "collapsed goverment" is not used in the same way that you mean.

They've already started feasting on the flesh of the older, weaker citizens.
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
I'm quite aware of what collapses government means in this context.
it means the coalition of ruling parties that were in power have lost that power
you really think I would post something which I didnt understand?

of course this is democracy in action, thats what I was trying to point out.

I just cant win with you can I
warsprite (152 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
Going by your past posts, why are you surprised?
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
but I was right.

I told you that the voice of the people in iceland would prevail
and now it has, to some extent at least.
you always write me off because what I say will never happen, now you're writing me off because what I said happened!
Invictus (240 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
Saying that an unpopular government would lose power is hardly a courageous prediction.

What you said will happen, like huge violent protests and a popular revolution, will never happen. The Icelandic government resigned due to public dissatisfaction and political pressure, not the rising of the proletariat that you want and seem so sure is inevitable.

Why wouldn't these bums leave after the whole banking industry of the island collapsed?
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
courageous or not I still made it.
I said the massive large scale violent demonstrations would lead to a shift in icelands government. and it happened.

and you cant even acknowledge that?
Good going Sicarius.
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
look the point is all of what I say is not bullshit

Invictus (240 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
If you're saying it was just that you're wrong.

If you had predicted a post-apocalyptic bloodbath in the streets of Reykjavik and mass executions of MPs and that happened I'd give you props, but the cabinet just resigned because the economy was screwed up and they'd lost popular support. Protests don't really do anything themselves.

You were close, but what else could have happened to this government, really?

I'd say 95%.
Sicarius (673 D)
26 Jan 09 UTC
well I could certainly say the same for both of you.

you may not understand anarchism but conservative american goverence is far from the shining culmination of 4000 years of political thought
Invictus (240 D)

We've never had real conservative governance.

Unpause game please.
The game was paused due to a player getting banned. All players have unpaused the game except for one. However that player has not been on in a extended period of time and out of his five games three he lost, one in CD, and one paused. Its almost been a week since he had last been on and some of the other players would like to get the game moving.

I posted a question about where I could find transcripts from negotiations in older games (maybe play-by-mail or something). The thread got displaced before I checked in again, so... anybody know anything about that?

With the various computer code people here I wonder if you could scan all the posts and
advise how many different people post and who posts how many?
