Racist or not racist?
White woman starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Not charged with a criminal offense. Apache Indian starts fire that burns several hundred thousand acres and hundreds of homes. Charged, convicted, and sentenced to ten years in prison. Is this proof of the systemic racism of the American court system or not? Please cast your votes below.

Wildlife Preserve "Occupied"
Occupied by "armed Oregon militia." Not terrorists. Even though they're armed and provoking a standoff with the federal government and putting countless lives at risk.

Cat v. Dog
I think Cats are far more lovable. It has been proven cats increase positivity in their owners. They also purr and reduce blood pressure and stress. Plus you never hear some asshole say: "honey we gotta take the fucking cat for a walk, AGAIN"

Dogs smell, and they jump on people and slobber on you. Cats should win this thing.

Did you not see the thing in Middlesbrough where a company which was housing refugees painted all their front doors red whilst leaving everyone elses a normal colour?

And then, unsurprisingly (given it's Middlesbrough), the asylum seekers houses got egged and stoned by locals.

Yes, I did. Equally unpleasant.

I don't know how anyone can sign off on that thinking it's a good idea. It beggars belief. The only possible reason is to "mark them out", and that can never be done for good reasons.

Great Britain has a long history of restricting outsiders. Back in WW II they had the police interview all people of recent German descent except the Royal family and restricted where they could live.

Wait until Trump starts pushing it for all the ones he doesn't want deported.

That was hardly uncommon for nations during WWII - just look at the Japanese Internment Camps in America. Different age, different standards.

Doesn't the UK have enough CCTVs to keep tabs on everyone at all times?

That's an urban myth. London might be the home of CCTV but even there there are obviously places where you can avoid being monitored.

Sounds like a tea party-perpetuated myth. Socialist Europe with all its CCTV.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
25 Jan 16 UTC
I do believe London does have the highest amount of CCTV cameras per capita in the world by a significant margin, but I've not heard of the rest of the UK being so above average.

This weekend in Newcastle, a lovely city close to my heart, there was a Neo-Nazi demo. To be fair, only about 15-20 people attended, but the sight of them assembled in front of a monument in the city centre, all in black with their faces covered, holding a huge picture of Adolf Hitler and holding a banner that said "Refugees Not Welcome: Hitler Was Right" was a very unpleasant sight.

I'm not too sure about your definition of "lovely".

The EDL & co have been having far bigger marches than that for years though. I get more annoyed at the amount of people I see sharing Britain First posts on Facebook.

There's no need for local animosity Hellenic. I love Newcastle, definitely one of my favourite UK cities. I'm happy I live so close to it.

I haven't been in a few years, but it seemed like a fairly standard de-industrialised city with accompanying levels of deprivation when I was there. Maybe it's had some significant redevelopment lately that I've not heard of.

I'm confused about the wrist bands. While this is obviously not the best way to handle it, doesn't it make sense for the refugees to carry some sort of identification, so they can receive their free meals, housing, etc.? I know at least in the States people receive food stamps to pay for meals, although I believe those are electronic or on pre-paid cards now.

How should this situation be handled?
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Pre-paid cards is a system that works fine. It's things that are openly worn and mark you out that are a bit stupid.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
25 Jan 16 UTC
@ Hellenic Riot: Then I'd say it has actually changed a fair bit, yes. I've lived in the North East for 11 years.

@KingCyrus: They could get an ID card or something like that that they'd only need to produce when they needed to prove their identity. Why on earth should they have to have something they have to wear on their person at all times?
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
25 Jan 16 UTC
People on food stamps can put the food stamps in their pocket. Imagine if the food stamps were mounted on a sash which had to be worn in public at all times. See?
KingCyrus (511 D)
25 Jan 16 UTC
OK, the way I was reading the article, it seemed that people were adverse to having any sort of identification. I agree that it should not be public.
Randomizer (722 D)
25 Jan 16 UTC
Yea, let's get people to stop wearing crosses in public.

It's looking more and more certain that this will be the presidential election line-up, with the BBC confirming that Michael Bloomberg will run as an independent if Trump/Clinton receive their respective party's nomination.

UN II - Constitution, resolutions and proposals.
The world has changed. The time of a lonely superpower is over. There are 17 powers in the world, and each of them has a vote in the security council in the new United Nations (UN).
The purpose of the game is role-playing game of diplomacy where the diplomacy between countries is in focus, not the actual war. You should choose a role to play (the neutral country opposed all wars, the super-power wanna-be, the federalist, the I'm-just-gonna-fuck-you-up-IS-role, or any other role).

I have been waiting months for this to make sense to me, but I still don't get it. When I click on Games, at the moment it says "Joinable (54)". When I click on the tab, I only see 1, and that game doesn't even have any joinable positions. What am I missing?
