Anyone needs some webdesign?
I was going to do some webdesign for someone to earn some money in the holidays, but that project apparently got sort of cancelled and it's a bit late to apply for a holiday job now I think, so I'm offering my services again.. See first reply for what I can do. I copied it from the last time I advertised, in case anyone recognizes it.

DIE HARD
Did you know: The Die Hard movies of Bruce Willis are entirely improvised? The director merely provides a set and some weapons, and some Germans or something, and turns Willis loose in front of the cameras. Bruce Willis was born in Germany and can recognize their accents.

Are you smarter than the previous webdipper?
A math/logic game.

I was thinking that a logic or math game would be fun to play on webdip. I will give a sequence of numbers and your job is to figure out the next two numbers. I will email the mods with the sequence, the rule that makes up the sequence, and the values of the next few numbers/objects. If you figured out what the next two numbers are, post them in the thread and they can be verified by the person who made the puzzle or the mods or independently by another person. The first person to solve the previous puzzle gets to make a new puzzle, give at least 5 numbers/objects in the sequence, email the mods the rules of the puzzle along with the next few numbers/values/objects in the puzzle and so forth. Only one puzzle can be presented to the forum at a time. If no one can solve the puzzle within 24 hours, you win and we start a new game.

The sequence must be made up of words, numbers, or symbols (ASCII characters) and not pictures/gif/links. The sequence must have at least 10 objects/numbers/values.

So, my sequence is 11, 21, 1211, 111221, 312211. I will email the mods the rules and the next few numbers. Post the numbers and either I or the mods will verify them unless it was solved by another independently (which, if wrong, can be overturned). If you are correct, then reveal the previous sequence’s rules along with your new puzzle in the next post; email the mods with the heading “Are you smarter than the previous webdipper” with your rule and the new few numbers. I hope this makes sense.

08 Aug 14 UTC
Yes, you can, y2k. Mods can play as well as long as they don't read the mail.

Ghug, damn fast. You are correct sir.
Please post the rule and your puzzle, then email the mods your rules and the answers.

" I will email the mods with the sequence, the rule that makes up the sequence, and the values of the next few numbers/objects."

It says a lot that you need to give them both the algorithm and also the next numbers in the series. : p
ghug (5068 D(B))

So, the rule is that you "describe" the previous number, so for, say, 312211, it's one three, one one, two twos, and two ones, or 13112221.

Next pattern is 2, 4, 3, F, 6.

ghug, are these numbers or numbers and letters? or aren't you allowed to tell us?
Mujus (1495 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
Sweet. :-) Who's next??
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
08 Aug 14 UTC
They are ASCII characters. I think that's all you need. They could be numbers and/or letters. I think that's part of the puzzle.
kasimax (243 D)
08 Aug 14 UTC
ghug already posted the pattern 2, 4, 3, F, 6.
pangloss (363 D)
08 Aug 14 UTC
@kasimax, I imagine it's hexadecimal.
kasimax (243 D)
08 Aug 14 UTC
are 1C and 9 the next two?
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
@pang: my thoughts too. F in hex is 15, for those unaware.
kasimax (243 D)
08 Aug 14 UTC
so, am i right?
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
08 Aug 14 UTC
According to ghug's email, it is not. I have emailed ghug to verify his rule as I am not sure if they make sense the way the numbers are presented here.
I think it would also be ok for people to discuss what they think the rules are. It is possible that ghug is wrong or has presented the numbers/values in an incorrect way.

8 7?
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
I don't see any possible relation between 2, 4, 3, F, 6

Even when F is 15
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
3B, 15 are the next two (I Believe)
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
Or I guess it would be 3B, F, sorry about that.
kasimax (243 D)
08 Aug 14 UTC
my reasoning behind 1C and 9 is that the sequence goes 2 (+02=) 4 (/2+1=) 3 (+12=) F (/3+1=) 6 (+22=) 1C aka 28 (/4+1=) 9. so +(x2) where x is a rising digit (0,1,2) and then divided by (n+2)+1. even if it's wrong, i like it :)
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
Mine is based on alternating sequences. If the pattern goes:

a B c D e F g H

c is ((a*3)-3), e is ((c*3)-3)

D is ((B*4)-1), F is ((D*4)-1)

etc

2 4 3 F 6 3B F EB 2A

and so forth
zultar (4180 DMod(P))

This one is hard. I don't think it's actually reasonable unless you have more numbers available or if you have an idea of the answer before hand.

Ghug, I think it would be fair to give everyone the next couple of values and see if they can figure out a few more. What do you think?
Silly game, given the paradox of following a rule means any computation can be made to either follow or break the rule. #wittgenstein.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
08 Aug 14 UTC
Zultar, both kasimax and I have provided rules that fulfull the pattern provided. Neither is it?
kasimax (243 D)
08 Aug 14 UTC
could you at least clarify that f is, in this case, indeed 15 in the hexadecimal system and not a letter?
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
08 Aug 14 UTC
I've PMed ghug to let him know there are questions, but I won't say anything else about it since it's his puzzle.

Soaking Mormons
I have heard that in the Mormon faith, pre-marital sex is only sinful if it involves vigorous movement. I have also heard that Mormon teens therefore practice "soaking", which involves penetrating the female partner, but then remaining still. They believe this is not sinful. Is this for real?
