getting back in to Combat Mission
haven't played for a long time since I'm on a Mac and the classic CM games don't work anymore. I'm excited to see Battlefront has come out with new WWII CM. But they're a bit pricy. Not sure if I should get Normandy or Fortress Italy? Anyone play these games?

Alacriousness
Problem of politicians regarding Syria: the alacrity to do something. If Cameron and co just hold their breaths for a second, wait for what the UN has to say, wait for what other nations have to say, they'll get their mandate. There's simply no rush.

Sbyvonomics
In a perfect (i.e. Sbyvl-dominated) world, the economic system would be much better than it is today. Here are my five steps to fix the socialist playpen that we call America:

1) Eliminate all federal taxes, including, but not limited to, those on income and corporations. Replace with a tariff system on foreign imports.

2) Eliminate all federal subsidies, including, but not limited to, those to corporations, as well as, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, and Food stamps.

3) Eliminate the bureaucracies, including, but not limited to, the NSA, and the TSA.

4) Control inflation by putting a moratorium on printing money. This will cause the value of the Dollar to skyrocket, making everyone wealthier immediately.

5) Cut $2 Trillion in government spending. This can be achieved through the things mentioned above, and by eliminating things like the National Parks and other ridiculous public works projects. End all pork barrel spending.

These five things alone will stabilize the economy and get this country out of the hole, but there are many more things we can do. Discuss.

Pfft, what a big-government phony. Here's MY plan:

1. Eliminate all federal, state and municipal taxes.
2. Eliminate all federal, state and municipal subsidies.
3. Eliminate all federal, state and municipal bureaucracies.
4. Remove all legal barriers to the creation of currencies and encourage competition against the US dollar.
5. Eliminate all federal, state and municipal spending (effectively a restatement of #2).

Get on my level statist pig

Hey sbyvl

If you somehow stop printing money and the value of a dollar goes up, everyone's dollars go up in value and nobody is any better off. You don't get richer because everyone's income goes up exactly the same. Then exports go down because nobody wants to buy expensive US goods, so US businesses send more labor and production overseas because its even cheaper to do business in a foreign country. Because our dollars are worth so much, and continue to gain value, nobody will make big purchases, like homes or construction equipment, because the value of their dollars keeps increasing, so it pays to not spend money. Businesses don't invest any money. More jobs are lost. Debt is now worse because youre paying it off with dollars that are worth more than when you took out a loan, effectively increasing the loan's interest rate.

So yeah, good call.

Rubbish plan. Tax gone. Import gone. Export gone. Trade gone (in-land too where possible because dollar becomes priceless). This is basically going back 10.000 years except with a huge debt, making US worse than Africa in terms of making a living.

The only ones who will ever approve this plan are the Russians, Chinese and everyone who wants you dead or enslaved.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)

@President Eden: I agree with doing the same thing on the state level, but I was talking specifically about the national government. And tariffs were how we funded the government before Wilson, and it kept American businesses booming and limited outside influences.

@2ndWL: Your salary would, in all likelihood, stay the same, so you would still have more money. Businesses wouldn't go over seas because we'd have a zero corporate tax rate, and a higher valued currency. Everything else you said is eliminated if you learn to read.

I always thought people who believed stuff like this were like end-of-level bosses; loud, much talked about, and not real.

When everyone's money is worth more, you aren't better off. Everyone stays at the same level.

not only that, but your export market is ruined too
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
23 Aug 13 UTC
@ILN: then we can manufacture here
@2wl: Prices drop, salaries stay the same
@mendax I have no idea what that meant
@stephie: It already has worked. It's what created the American economy as we know it.

Wow.

And I thought Reaganomics was kind of insane.

Sbyvl, what qualifications in economics do you have?
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
23 Aug 13 UTC
I love how liberals, when shown how something is true, resort to "qualifications". Listen Klein, it doesn't take a degree to have common sense, which you obviously lack.

Lucky for me, you and your crackpot theories are in no danger of becoming economic policy. And good thing too, because it would basically take a giant dump over our trade. (I'd go for a more technical description, but I think it would be lost on you)
Sbyvl36 (439 D)

Also, it amuses me when your 'argument' is basically "I know you are, but what am I?"

Yet another reason we shouldn't allow somebody with the mental age of 8 be allowed to formulate important economic policy.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
24 Aug 13 UTC
@Jack Klein: Is he as much of a socialist as you are? Or is he a Constitutionalist, like me?
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
24 Aug 13 UTC
@Jack Klein: Actually my argument is more like "Everybody is an idiot except for me"

“I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.”
