Everybody in the game agreed to pause and everybody voted for it EXCEPT OZ who wrote 'good luck' to those in the storm but never put in the vote. I'm thinking he didn't know what he was supposed to do. Please pause this game until after the storms. Everyone agrees but there's only 2 hours left.

How to raport player with multiple accounts?
I am playing a world map and 2 players are in some insane-coordinated alliance. Then i notice that both players are always "last seen" in similar time with 10-20 minutes difference.
It is obvious that the player is multi-accounting. How can i rapport him to check him out?

Hmm, I assumed that you were Austria at the start, Austria referred to himself pluraly (e.g. We are with you), as you had in our previous game. Nevertheless, you still lost.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

My first non-win. Thanks to all who played! This game was fxxed from the start, but that usually plays to my advantage, so I'm not going to complain that it didn't this time.

Italy: You played flawlessly. I may not have stabbed me when you did, but I think it was smart of you, as it limited the growth of your only real rival. You manipulated Russia VERY well, and reaped all of the rewards.

Russia: Would you have done anything differently if you believe that everything I told you was the truth? Cuz it was. Literally everything. Your coordinated attack on my with Italy was very foolish (for you), as I could do nothing after that but wipe you out (I was in no position to threaten Italy). I promised you for 5 straight turns that I didn't want to mess with you, and Italy would solo if we just fought each other! You needed to take out Turkey, and demand a larger share of the spoils from Italy from the beginning. Failing that, you should have been more willing to reform your alliance. I always kept to my word with you.

Austria: You were screwed from the start. It happens :(

England: It's true I was going to come after you preferentially, but after Russia missed a turn I took Sweden from him. However, your move to the North Sea telegraphed your intentions, and guaranteed that I would attack have to attack you and then repair relations with Russia. I don't understand why you would attack me when I offered you Brest, Spain, and Portugal uncontested from a CD'd France. Still, it was nice to see you saw what time it was when Italy neared his solo, and made peace with me for the greater defense. We had him held in the med, barring France's foolishness.

Turkey: You almost made it mate! Glad we could work together for a brief while.

France: France France France... you screwed this game for me (and everybody) man. If you're going to quit, stay quit. If you had just showed up early, we could have killed England and held better in the atlantic. If you had stayed quit, the same would have happened. Every action you took confused me and make it impossible for the rest of us to create any kind of legitimate defense against the solo.

All that being said, thanks for playing everybody!
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 Aug 11 UTC
@PSmongoose yeah I thought you were Turkey. I was 100% sure my RL friend was Italy. I mix up my "roleplaying" to keep 'em guessing in anon. Glad it confused you :P

And I didn't LOSE... I just was a non-winner lol.

if you dont win you are a loser. if you draw you only get to share the loss. welcome to big boy diplo.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 Aug 11 UTC
In WTA I'd agree to that. PPSC I'd take a survive doubling my bet. It's not ideal, but I don't feel like I *lost* anything (except my perfect record lol)
centurion1 (1478 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
points dont mean anything gr does.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 Aug 11 UTC
Well thanks so much for projecting your assumption that your goals and motivations are the same as mine. Hear that folks? centurion1 plays for GR only so everybody better be sure to do exactly the same, otherwise your accomplishments mean NOTHING.

Seriously though, I played well and finished well. If your idiom dictates that this is a loss and a loss only, no better than a resign or a wipe, be my guest. Just don't try telling me I need to do the same.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
26 Aug 11 UTC
If you ask the top 100 players, I believe the majority will tell you that win/draw record and GR are more indicative of skill rather than points. He wasn't projecting his assumptions onto you (and you really can't project assumptions by the way but that's not relevant), but he was telling you what he thinks to be important.
The only point I would dispute with centurion is that drawing is not sharing the loss. A well played diplomacy game should end in a draw. That's why win/draw ratio matters, and GR takes that into account.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
That however, was not a well played diplomacy game by anyone besides Italy. I have no idea what Germany was trying to do. You cannot attack three people at the same time and expect to win, even if one of them is CD. There is no way Russia could trust you after you attacked Denmark and moved to Prussia.
coffeebean (355 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
@centurion1 - in PPSC, having centers at the end matters for GR just as much as it matters for points.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
26 Aug 11 UTC
@coffeebean, it does, but that's why win/draw ratio also matters.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 Aug 11 UTC
@jmo:

you are right, of course. This game was messed up really...

The repeated missed turns by France and England and the 1 by Russia made me repeatedly switch tactics. I usually consider my diplomacy to be strong, but I could not find an ally until it was too late to stop Italy. Russia didn't seem to have a problem with the Prussia move, and I only took Sweden because he missed the turn he was supposed to support me into Norway. When he reappeared I gave it back, no harm. I figured that that would show him I didn't want a fight (which was truth, I saw Russia as an optimal long-term ally at that point).

I could have handled France and England myself, but maybe I did get greedy. Not sure what I should have done though... if you had read my press you'd see how desperate I was for an ally. What would you have done differently?

@zultar:

centurion did not say what HE thinks is most important... he said what IS most important, period, ("if you dont win you are a loser. if you draw you only get to share the loss." "points dont mean anything gr does. ") and doesn't leave any room at all for what another's goals might be.

I don't care about what the top 100 thinks either. I play to win first, maximize my points second, and to not die third. In that vein I'm quite happy with my performance, and if that doesn't meet anybody else's expectations, why should I care?
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
26 Aug 11 UTC
You shouldn't and don't need to care about other people's expectations. But then I think you shouldn't go around and parade your record as if it was the most amazing thing.
I am probably going to put words into centurion's mouth now, but I think part of the reason he responded the way he did was because of the way you have behaved on the forum. He was trying to knock your vanity down a notch or two.
Play the game the way you want to as it is your right, but don't be vain about your accomplishments. However, if you are going to wave your wins around and claim to be wunderkind, then why act surprise when people with better records or points are chiming in?

Don't be arrogant, but if you are going to be arrogant, then be prepared to back it up and beat the people at the top (and from what little I know, more often than not, they care about GR and win/draw -which incidentally correlate positively with number of points).
centurion1 (1478 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
you are a very pretentious little man aren't you. You have played a whopping total of three games in your entire history here and you pop out with statements like

"I usually consider my diplomacy to be strong, but I could not find an ally until it was too late to stop Italy."

"I could have handled France and England myself,"

all you have played is three games with sub par opponents for tiny pots and in your first win your were continually graced with back to back cd's a reason for a cancel in a high class game, then your second game you had hilariously incompetent players yet again as well as a late game france resign which killed austrias chances. Who are you lol and what sort of super star do you think you are. Then your final game you got to take advantage of people cd'ing all over the damn place and you didnt even win.

don't act like you know how to play this game.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

Pot, kettle, black.

How do you know he hasn't played games outside of this website? You should mend your presumptious arrogance before you start casting stones on other people's failings - as you seem.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

zultar (4180 DMod(P))
26 Aug 11 UTC
@Sarg, is that comment directed at me or centurion or both?
Sargmacher (0 DX)
26 Aug 11 UTC
Sorry for the confusion zultar, that was directed at centurion.

He accuses someone of pretention (you in this case) yet his own tone and style is arrogant and utterly pompous.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
26 Aug 11 UTC
Sarg, I think you misread centurion's comments. They were directed at yellowjacket, not at me.
centurion1 (1478 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
I can watch and analyze his play. It isn't that of a "pro" which I am not. However, I don't believe I am. And dude before you try to use pedantry to display a superior moral stance try to spell said words correctly.

Not to mention you should learn who people are talking to. Everything I write was directed at Yellow Jacket.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
26 Aug 11 UTC
Ah, that's right - I did misread that. (which is funny because I thought how stupid it would be on someone's part to accuse you of playing only 3 games when you have quite clearly played more on this website)
Sargmacher (0 DX)
26 Aug 11 UTC
Spell what words correctly?
Sargmacher (0 DX)
26 Aug 11 UTC
Do you not accept British English as correct?

Wow, you really are arrogant.
centurion1 (1478 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
Adjective
presumptious
Common misspelling of presumptuous.

and you should just apologize and be done with it.

Sargmacher (0 DX)
26 Aug 11 UTC
I don't need to apologise to you. I stand by what I said. It was presumptuous and arrogant of you to make your comments based only on the player's game record on this website - you have no way of knowing their prior experience.

If you mean I should apologise for a spelling mistake then you can fuck off.
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
26 Aug 11 UTC
There's a whole lotta love on the forums these days.
centurion1 (1478 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
^ classic case of where someone would simply apologize in RL but continues to argue on the internet. And that lads and lassies is why arguing on the internet is such a fail.

Let's see Sargmacher how can I judge his level of play....... hmm obviously he has played before because he won his first game (though it wasn't a difficult game to win) I can tell he is not as good as he thinks because he makes poor moves. He cannot play the "it was a live game and I couldn't think fast enough excuse" because he has never played a live game.

That's how.

Also it is pretentious. Pretentions is an archaic spelling that hasn't been used in centuries. If you want to use multiple syllable words you have to use them properly.

Oh of course I don't want an apology for a spelling mistake. An oops, well regardless *insert retort with a flowery fuck off at the end* is more than adequate.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
@yellow jacket, first off I wouldn't have played with the those players. Second off I would have taken Bel in the fall 01 instead of covering Munich. You have to get really unlucky to have an Italy attack you as Germany that early. I also would not have lost Brest by leaving France the second Russia made half a move towards you. There's a lot more I would have done different but I'm going to stick to those.
@tom, I'm not seeing it...
centurion1 (1478 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
And come on the boy is literally oozing with arrogance he titled the thread as "how the mighty have fallen" if you don't understand the reference it is because he considers himself "mighty"

Jesus he used an EOG so that he could say he played as well as he could it was everyone else's fault. Like this dude considers an English move to North Sea is an attack on Germany. cmon now.......
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
26 Aug 11 UTC
@centurion1 you forgot the other threads he made bragging about his perfect record.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 Aug 11 UTC
Whoah!

jmo's got the right idea. My bragging is 100% tongue in cheek. I've said every time (between smack-talkings) that I know I've been lucky... and am certainly not an expert or pro. I made mistakes this game, (and thank you btw jmo for pointing some of them out... I agree!)

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, centurion. I know sarcasm is hard to convey in text... the "mighty" bit is definitely that (referencing back to my other quips). I also know there were people from before who were looking forward to seeing me get mine, so I thought they'd be happy to know I got a small taste of comeuppance, and to explain the game how I saw it... now of course that explanation is made from my PoV, but what do you expect? Isn't that the point of an EoG, so you can learn a bit what others were thinking?

So again, what the hell are you trying to say? Just that I'm an asshole? Lol. Cuz thats not exactly an original forum theme, here. That I'm a poor player? I think that has yet to be shown. That I'm not as good as I think I am? I think that for only having played 3 games, I'm ahead of the curve. Is that what you wanted to hear? Gosh does that make me an asshole in the book of centurion?

I'm here to play, and I'm here to learn, and if you don't like my attitude I'd suggest you study jmo's approach a bit, because his few bits of *constructive* criticism does a whole lot more than anything you've said to change my feelings on my quality of play. So if you have something specific to say that I could do better, I'd love to hear it... if you just want to slap me down for running my mouth on the forum, you can get bent.
