Yeah, not reading that whole thing...a bunch of garbage. Let's get the cliff notes:
“The legacy of Pope John Paul II is vibrant and extraordinary, yet painfully inconsistent. The contradiction in his legacy lies in his teaching and actions on the dignity of women. John Paul II called for women to be included as decision makers in secular governments. However, when it came to bringing women into the decision making bodies of his church, he slammed the door in our faces, barring us from ordination and locking the door by stating the discussion about women’s ordination is closed.”
So, the Catholic Church called for equal power and rights for women in all things outside itself. How...hmm...interesting.
I was hoping no one would be defending the Catholic Church's position on this, and that there was belief it would be overturned because of the outcry. It seems like this is not true. At the least we have two people that will defend this decision. I would hope that people would consider this when tithing or attending church, but I doubt it. From polling I have read, it seems like most Catholic's in America don't agree with the ideals of the Vatican, but still stay attached for some reason. The Catholic Church is supposed having troubles, you would think they would try to move forward and grow instead of making their troubles worse.
