Fleet in the South of Spain
Can a fleet in the south of Spain move to Portugal? Can it support an invasion of Portugal from the Mid Atlantic? Thanks.

Interstellar
I really liked this movie. Of course, the expository sections, wherein astronauts were reminded that light can't escape black holes, were goofy. But I thought it managed to treat ideas like the brevity of human life very effectively, and provocatively. I'm going to be thinking about the movie for a long time. What did you guys think of it?

Interest in Tournaments (no promises)
There hasn't been many non-gunboat (or player-sponsored) tournaments lately. This thread is to gauge the interest in the site of bringing back any of the following tournaments: The World Cup, The Masters, The Leagues. The GFDT is abge's thing, so I won't ask on that.

Protestor Facing 9 Counts of Assaulting Police for Fake Blood
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/occupy-wall-street-protester-busted-nypd-boss-paint-job-article-1.2022996

What the article for whatever reason fails to mention is that he is apparently facing 225 years... for... fake blood on a guy in a suit... yeah, okay... that makes sense.

Seeking Cliche's : Powered Armor
Fellow Webdipstanians...perhaps you saw my earlier teaser thread..."Armor" Perhaps not. Anyway, instead of November write a novel in a month, I"m going to do December (10 days off around Christmas...best month for this plan). My novel -- a "Powered Armor" sci-fi schtick. Humorous take on the powered warrior fighting a pointless war.

Back again, need players
I used to be an active member, but haven't played in over a year. My brother is visiting for thanksgiving and wants to play. It would be great if we could get some players to join us. He played the board game many many years ago, so he's familiar with the game but is new to online play.

Thanks http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=151309

2014 Webdiplomacy Tournament Round 2
Looking for feedback. Ultimately there are two options: starting in a few weeks with the next round's games being setup Saturday, December 6, or waiting until after the holidays. I'm not sure how many are traveling, and I'd hate to see a mass-produced for the end of December, but I would also hate to delay the next round as this one is coming to a close. Thoughts?

Given My Name, Seems Only Fair *I* Should Post This...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMOVFvcNfvE I haven't seen these movies in years--I stopped being a fan about the time I joined this site...and gave myself this name, lol--but THAT looks pretty cool. A couple odd things in there, but hey...X-Wings and Tie Fighters again, instead of Whateverplanes from the prequels. Now J.J. Abrams just needs the Millennium Falcon to team up with the USS Enterprise! ;) Thoughts, sci-fi people, on the new Star Wars trailer?

CGI looks good. Really can't say much based on a 90 second teaser. Can't be as bad as I-III, but that's not saying much.

Yes, a spoiler for anyone who missed any installment from the good half of the series that has been released as of yet.

The droid looked pretty stupid, so my guess is that it won't be as good as the first 3 movies (4-6), but it definitely looks much better than the raping that ep 1-3 gave the series. At least the dark sider looked pretty wicked instead of some whiny punk kid.

I'm just happy to see Mark Hammill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher back in a few, even if they play a limited role.

"The droid looked pretty stupid" Agreed. It definitely was NOT the droid I was looking for.

Observations:

harrison ford with long hair... oh my god.
r2d2 needs to appear
the official 4th black guy in the galaxy, (windu, lando, the naboo captain guard)
star trek 2 vibe
tri-saber? dafuq
millennium falcon border control
liam neeson/quigon jin was the only good thing about the new 3
speaking of which: K-19 widowmaker, the only movie with both Ford and Leeson
im getting off topic
LALALALA

that is all.

"Sorry to tell ya, but Obiwan is dead in these movies."

But he'll always be one of my favorite fictional characters, even if I haven't cared about the franchise he's from in years...

I like a little science fiction, and I like Merlin from the Arthurian legend, and I like Alec Guinness (far more than he himself liked this role.)

Put them together, boom, Space Merlin. :p

"harrison ford with long hair... oh my god."

Who said he has long hair in this?

"star trek 2 vibe"

Which Star Trek 2, the original, or the Abrams Trek 2 (which I still like more than others, I guess...I maintain that was a fun action-heavy Trek flick with a glimmer of a point trying to be made about terrorism/counter-terrorism, before the last half hour sunk into fan service of redoing TWOK shot for shot at points...I think they wanted to show fans they cared about continuity more than in the previous film, but it backfired in how they went about it, but I digress.)

"tri-saber? dafuq"

I keep hearing people talk about this Crusader blade-style lightsaber...and I don't get the real issue here--it's a Crusader's sword in space. How is that any more or less sensible than a samurai sword in space? I can see how that'd be a problem if you gripped too near the cross section, but as long as your hand isn't right up against the laser part...eh? *shrug* The only sword I ever owned/used was a French-handled fencing sword for recreational fencing and Shakespeare plays (THERE YOU GO, make a fencing lightsaber, with a shield for the protective cup around your hand, lol, prevent all those hand amputations! ;) ) so is that really an egregious error?

"liam neeson/quigon jin was the only good thing about the new 3"

I never cared for him much, actually, in that film--I thought Ewan McGregor was the best "main cast" member...he at least seemed credible as a young Alec Guiness. The more I think about it, though I haven't seen any in years, I think the reason I liked III best of the prequels is that it starts to "look" slightly closer to the originals...the clones look more like the stormtroopers, the Vader suit and Death Star outline is there at the end, etc.

Seems like everyone just wants the old, iconic elements back...

Which is why I've unashamedly seen that 7 second or so clip of the Millennium Falcon a good 20 times now. :p Don't care, THAT is cool to see, after decades of it not appearing...it's like when the new USS Enterprise was introduced in the 2009 Star Trek film. Whatever you think of that movie, it was just kind of nice to see the old Enterprise (albeit in an alternate timeline) back again...CGI and different looking, but still recognizable as something you loved when you were young and which kept you coming back.

The only thing I disliked in the trailer was the soccer ball droid. That looked like the Disney creeping out of things, it felt out of place tonally with the back-to-the-iconic-things vibe of the trailer.

And thus ends the longest post of mine on a trailer, lol...until Star Trek 3/13. ;)
Could that be Gary the Stormtrooper? http://youtu.be/Cizlx6ODhuE

Apple Question
Some of you are techy people, might you be able to help me out?

Apparently my Apple ID is locked because I don't know the answers to my security questions (well, I think I do, but they are apparently wrong) and my rescue email is disabled since I graduated from my high school. Since then, I get notification after notification informing me that I can't access the cloud and now my texts aren't sending. Is this all because of my ID security questions or is something else going on?

diplomacy dislodge question.
Yeah quick question.
Lets say you have countries A and B.
If they each have one piece attempting to move into an empty territory but during that turn, Country A gets dislodged, does the standoff still occur or does B move into its desired territory? Thanks in advance.
