Replacement
Replacement france needed. France is in a very good position at 9 centers and was recently banned due to a multi. And strongly allied with me =).

Concern mod intervention pauses
If a player has requested a pause and the only hold out has failed to post a message or moves (and so appears near NMR), will the mods force pause so that neither the pause-request player nor the near-NMR-hold-out player NMR? I do not wish to waste their time with a request they'll deny.

It seems I may be in need of a sitter
I have one game. Which may or may not be unpaused, when I leave. If they decide to unpause it I will need someone to watch over it. Post interest, and I will PM you the details.

Egypt elects Muslim Brotherhood member Mohammad Morsi as President
The president-elect wants "closer relationships with Iran." What does the forum make of this? Does it imply that Egypt's relationship with Israel will be less close, or is it simply a part of community-building in the muslim world? Is the election of Morsi a positive or negative development for Egypt? Discuss.

Warm Colors vs. Cool Colors.
The Idea behind the game is that it begins with 2 alliances.Russia, France and Italy start as the Cool Colors. Turkey, Austria and England begin as the Warm Colors. Germany is the swing, and can pick either side or be in it for themselves. The game is global chat and I'd like to get some mischief players in on this. Its a PPSC, and 2 days per phase.

bourse diplomacy info
I wanted to:
a) know if would be appropriate to gm a game of bourse on webdiplomacy (rather than vdiplomacy) and
b) see if there would be any interest in this.

...what?
gameID=92614

Italy CD'd for no reason. Russia and I had voted for a draw most of the game. England would only move a few units each turn and not vote for a draw, even though Russia had a clear advantage. Around 2012 Russia withdraws a draw vote, then England moves to the North. So *both England and Russia* suddenly vote for a draw. ???

US policy in Africa - nobody cares
200,000 people may lose their livelihoods thanks to the petty expiration of a free-trade agreement in the US, and no one seems to care, according to this blog post.

So, not to talk about this game of course. But, in another game very similar to this one, has there been any precedent of repercussion for someone dragging out a draw?

If you post in the forum they are pretty good about responding. It depends if a mod is on or not. They aren't on call. They've done alright by me.

It's a stalemate if after 3 years there is no movement. That wasn't the case in our game.
Riphen (198 D)
25 Jun 12 UTC
Who makes that rule? Your own rules now? keep changing to make your wins feel better huh?
2ndWhiteLine (2736 D(B))
25 Jun 12 UTC
Riphen, Czech has more wins than you have games finished. The rules, written and unwritten, seem to fit him just fine.
The Czech (41695 D(S))
25 Jun 12 UTC
Look at the past forum posts to see the "exact" reasoning behind contactingthe mods re: a stalemate that has gone on and on. Then look at our game. The stalemate line wasn't being held by France. He's the one who screwed teh pooch.
The Czech (41695 D(S))
25 Jun 12 UTC
Oh, and BTW look up earlier where I said I would have drawn if I didn't get Mar that turn. I wasn't dragging the game on and on for an extra 1/2 hour with out the potential to win.
Riphen (198 D)
25 Jun 12 UTC
Oh my gosh he has more wins than ...oh i didnt finsh cause I dont care. He obviously doesnt get to make rules just cause he is good. We have mods for a reason.

Anyways you still did drag the other match on. Game should have been over once two powerful nations CD'd at the same time. Who also had been working together. Clear sign of something way fisher than just CD's.

Hey Riphen, you complain about him bending stalemate rules and then you go and make a "thinly veiled accusation" about a game. How is that any better?

@Czech: the three years with no movement is only a rough guideline. There are situations in which it is possible to go three years without movement but have a very likely forced win, and mods will not (and should not) force such games into draws. Rather, the requirement is that to avoid the forced draw, you need to prove that you have a viable plan in that situation.
