That's what I'm trying to do too! I haven't played for a little over a year because of my chess studies, now I'm trying to casually get back into diplomacy.

I'll jump in because I need a good elite game to counteract these bad masters games I'm in...

yeah the masters tournament this year really sucked. I played 2 or 3 games I think and the quality of players was just abysmal. I think its because a lot of newbies who are used to PPSC games decided to jump into a WTA tournament without understanding the differences.

hope you can join then too! i haven't played a master's game for awhile, sad to hear the quality drop...

I've found it to be draws formed by like 1902 without any communication when attacked and no concept of switching sides for the benefit of possible solos... it's like one track minds out there. And I came in as a sub, so I had to join like 3 games in bad position. I got humbled when I figured I could talk myself out of at least one of them... in all of them, the draw was already decided, none of the 3 would budge, and I slowly was eliminated in each one of them. Really cheesed me off.

@Otto, how have you been studying chess?

by reading (yermolinksy, and classics like lasker, steinitz, etc, watching GM videos, and training with class A and expert players on my former high school's chess team and coaching staff (i just graduated). I even went to lessons by an IM. since my first tournament in october of 2010, my rating has gone up to 1400 so i'd say i'm making steady progress

I just got back from the US national high school chess tournament, it was awesome!
