The case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn: Or, how I turned into Sicarius
This has the stench of a set-up, and a rather disgusting one - using rape.

Diplomacy Pod Cast
http://diplomacycast.com/

Eric Mead and Nathan Barnes have set up a site for pod casts on Diplomacy play. They just interviewed me on the play of Italy in the third segment. (I think my interview starts a little more than half way through the podcast).

Playing Italy... does anyone have issues playing Italy?
Check out this link that Edi Brison shared:
http://diplomacycast.com/files/other/DiplomacyCastEp3.mp3

start around minute 20 for a great conversation and detailed explanation of how to play well with Italy. Much of this will be boring for experienced players, but newer players or early to mid-level players should listen to improve their games dramatically.

Orders Not Being Recieved . . . .
Are any other players experiencing issues where orders after end of turn ARE NOT correlating with the orders you submitted? A couple of other players are saying “that’s not the orders I submitted” in more than one game and now I’ve experienced the same thing. I have 75+ games on this site under my belt and previously have calked up the incident as player error but this seems utterly peculiar to have actually been submitted under any circumstances.

cooperation against Western Tripple Allience
England/France/Germany (Western Triple)

I'm interested if there's a way to stop/block this allience without convincing its members to stab.
Can Austria, Russia, Italy and Turk stop them?

Rules for Drawing a Game?
At what point does a game become officially drawn, even if one of the parties has not voted that way. Is there a way to "force" a draw? (with a moderator's help perhaps?)

Provocatively Ignorant Political Thread Title With Unnecessary Question Mark?
Tired and morally objectionable claim made in the thin veil of a poorly-worded question? Mention of pseudo-scientific evidence and popularity of ignorant belief, segueing into totally absurd conclusion about the world which I seek to defend at length because I've already made up my mind. What do you think?

When I moved to Armenia what would you of thought?
Was I trying to stab? Or something else?
Riphen (198 D)
17 May 11 UTC
Remember it is Gunboat so no communication. I just want to know if I should ever try that again. If the majority of people dont know what I was trying to do then I am probably never going to try again.
JesusPetry (258 D)

I have made this move to Armenia once in a gunboat accidentally (meant to move to Rumania!), and it turned out to be a very smart move that allowed me to reorganize my forces. I had some trouble trying to show Turkey that I meant no harm afterwards, though.
were you trying to bounce? I cant think of anything

(though I have NO claim to excellence at gunboat)
nm you were trying to get him to kill the fleet so you could build another army, too complicated for gunboat I think
Riphen (198 D)
17 May 11 UTC
I was hoping that he disbanded me. so he would move his fleet at black sea. There was no way I was going to be able to stab him with a fleet in black sea. Or it would of been hard.
Would have thought "Why in the hell would you do that?" and then used it as a pretext to attack you, probably.
Riphen (198 D)
17 May 11 UTC
That is exactly what I was Trying Santa. Yea I think it is too complicated for gunboat too. It takes a lot of trust just to do that in a regular game.
Riphen (198 D)

That is why he attacked me. lol

and lets not forget, i only had 5 minutes to make a decision and set my moves that way. so it was a go big or go home move.

I have never, ever seen a successful slingshot jugger in gunboat. While I am sure its out there, especially at the higher levels, it is a move that cedes too much to turkey in the opening moves to be tried, especially in a live game.
omgwhathappened (0 D)
17 May 11 UTC
yeah, if i were turkey, regardless of your intentions and our prior relationship, i would have stabbed you so hard, i would've been able to hang my hat off the tip of the knife sticking out of your chest. my rule on not getting stabbed is to not be stabbable. having your fleet hanging around isn't as bad as opening yourself up to a stab from a "trusted" ally. you have to sacrifice a little bit of mission efficiency in order to keep yourself defended on peaceful fronts.

plus in gunboat you have to assume everone is an idiot, it doesnt matter that you are throwing yourself at the 15 SC russia to prevent a solo, the 4 SC England will probably still take your empty SCs after doing so
i cant wait to be able to talk about a game im currently playing to illustrate this point
What thatwasawkward said, basically. I'd have gone "...wat" and buried the knife in. (Without thinking of it as burying the knife in. Because it would have looked like an awful stab. +1 SantaClausowitz on that point -- you have to assume everyone is an idiot, because sadly, this is generally the case.)
*Because your move to Armenia would have looked like an awful stab from which I was rightfully defending myself.

@SantaClausowitz About your "everybody is an idiot" comment in gunboat - how very true. Check out Turkey's last few moves in gameID=59144 - a sparkling spectacular example of case in point.

I'm desperately trying to stop a German solo from happening by blocking the Balkans - while our dear Italian eats my centers from behind. Even that can be forgiven - but the last move is priceless - Trieste is the only army support holding the crucial Vienna - and he takes Trieste! The Rum to Sevas move option sticks out like a sore thumb - which I specifically oppose by cancelling the support from Ukraine - but no, our friend does not feel like holding Sevastapol. And WestMed for some reason feels like floating into GoL instead of holding Spain like it should have been.
meanwhile France moves to Irish sea on the other end of the board torpedoing any shot i have of holding him off there, everybody is an idiot.

@ my previous comment - our dear Turk not Italian. I was the Italian.
