Banned Accounts
Just out of curiosity, how many of the 32579(at time of posting) are still "active" accounts.

Also, anyone know what the resident vagabond Sicarius is up to? Always enjoyed his stories of his Robin Hood adventures.

I want to spend a good couple of points
I have recently ended up all my games without joining new ones to replace it, thus freeing up a lot of points. I would like to play a high-pot game (around 500) if possible with good players. Anyone up?

If I develop schizophrenia or something, and get a split personality, am I allowed to have one account for each personality? Are there exemptions for that?

EOGs - Lets Play a Game Man
@ Sarg - You speak of me throwing the draw? Once I took sev I stopped attacking you. All I did was defend myself. If your idea of stopping the solo is allowing you to walk into my centres so you can do it yourself, you have a lot to learn.

My question would be why Turkey (Lando Carlissian) kept throwing themselves at me (Austria) every turn. Italy and I could have stalemated but you insisted on attacking me. If you had read the orders I had every turn attempted to support your hold in Con from Bulgaria, etc but you were not paying attention.

Why were you doing this?
Sargmacher (0 DX)

You sound arrogant.
I don't even understand what you're talking about. All I did was try and hold my position. espcially in a PPSC game when other's moves are unpredictable. You made no effort to stop Germany yourself. All you did was hold Bul and Greece forever even though I never made a supported attack at them. Once I got to the Ionian I did my best to hold Czech up. I wasn't comfortable with you ebign out there because your play to that point had been one-dimensional.

When could you have stalemated us?
But anyway, congrats to jmeyers and aksninja you guys had a great alliance and earned every bit of your showing.

Also, my move at the end taking Belgium had no malicious intent. I just wanted to get a bit farther into the southeast corner of the board before the game ended.

I didn't want to walk into your centres at any point. I only took one centre of yours, Bulgaria, and that was because you missed your turn and I thought if Turkey is not coming back I can take a center and build another army for the stalemate line. Is that so wrong?

Other than that, I tried to support your hold every turn to show good faith. You ignored that.

If you hadn't thrown yourself at me, this result would have been different.

I am absolutely sure I have things to learn, but your gameplay was far less than perfect and your arrogance in telling me that I have a lot to learn without realising any of your failures yourself shows that your own character is wanting.

whoops. posted in live games before this was created. anyway, i was surprised at the ease with which i got into austrian territory -- i thought when i first took boh it was headed for stalemate along gal/bud/tyl or something.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

Never made a supported attack at them? That was all you were doing all game. Italy had to stay in the Ionian to support hold Greece, rather than using it in the west to stop England's advancement.
Well that was when I was trying to earn Italy as an ally still.

My question for Czech is why didn't you go for that?
jmeyersd (4240 D)

oh, and great game aksninja. you were unlucky that i broke through so much sooner than you did in the med
Sarg, there was a lot of game left at that point. Had you not given up on defending Germany the outcome would have been a lot different.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
08 Feb 11 UTC
That's bollocks.

1. Every single turn you attacked me in Greece.

2. And then you take Sevastopol. There was no way for me to know that you were going to stop there and then decide to support my line against Germany.

3. For all I knew, you had a vendetta against me - shown through your constant attacks on me every turn and NOT ONCE did you support hold a unit of mine to communicate to me that you were in some way going to join my and Italy's side.

4. When you had taken Sevastopol and advancing your units towards me and still launching attacks on Greece, I decided that I was not going to be attacked from Germany on one side and attacked by you from the rear. So I defended my front on your border.

If you are sincere in what you are saying here that I should have carried on holding a line and that you wouldn't have attacked me further - in Rumania, for example, then can you give me an example of an order where you tried to communicate that?
So in the mid-game its not ok to attack a neighbour that might be trying to stop a solo but in the late game, you can peck away however you like?
Go through and look at my army in Sev's supports of you to Rum every turn.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
08 Feb 11 UTC
I'm not sure what your point is there but I didn't peck away at anyone in such an arbitrary manner as you make out to seem. You didn't enter moves, you had left, I took Bulgaria, that was the only move I made against you. And that was not in the late game.

Why can't you answer me question?

Which question?

You moved to Con all sorts of times. And you tried to put your fleet in the Eastern Med.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
08 Feb 11 UTC
Yes. After you took Sevastopol.

After you took Sevastopol there was no reason for me to trust you. Before that point I had held my line in Greece-Bulgaria every turn and offered you a support hold to show you I meant no harm.

You had never controlled Sevastopol. Sevastopol had been mine for many years. There was no reason for you to come up and take it. In doing so, you are the one that wanted to replace my units with your own to hold a line.
Yeah, well, its a lot easier to be a four centre power trying to survive than a three centre power. Especially as Turkey I needed the fleet to block you.

My mistake was not understand your intentions. My mistake was not taking Sev, specifically, I just couldn't read you.

Anyway, this discussion seems over. Clearly you think your gameplay in that game was amazing. And clearly I don't. I'm not going to be rude as you were by starting a conversation on that particular game by saying "you have a lot to learn". I am sure you are a competent player generally.

Well done jmeyersd.
I never once said I thought I played amazingly. I thought I played competently. So did you, until the endgame. And this thread was in response to your post in the life games thread.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

@Lando: Your last comment is disappointing though and shows you were being purely selfish.

"Yeah, well, its a lot easier to be a four centre power trying to survive than a three centre power."

I posed no threat to you with two armies in Greece-Bulgaria. You could have held Aegean-Con indefinitely. You got bored in your position and wanted to do something in the game and so you took Sevastopol. That is what cost the line I had built. Whether I could have attempted to understand or take a leap of faith with you or whether you should have trusted me more and kept to your three centers and perhaps moved a fleet out to Ionian to support Italy - that can be left to history.

face2face Dip Tournament Dublin 4-6 March
http://leprecon.info/blog/
I've convinced the organisers to Leprecon to give me space for a diplomacy tournament! If anyone is in dublin, there will be an unspecified boardgame as the prize, it will cost €10 for the saturday or €15 for the weekend (lots of other games to play, but i'm hoping to get a proper multi-game tournament if i can get the numbers)

My wife and I are rapidly diminishing our stock of good hour-long TV dramas to order on Netflix, and I would love to have some new ideas. Any help would be appreciated. We don't love gore. Please no vampire-related suggestions unless they are better than Buffy seasons 1-3.

Does anyone here know how to use it? I'm looking to hire someone to create a page for a blog I'm starting. I'd also like to collect email addresses in exchange for downloads and also have a subscription service.

I know most of the programmers here are pretty busy as it is (programmers always are after all haha) but if there's anyone that would be interested in doing this for me please visit my profile and send me an email. It would all be paid work.
