Banned Accounts
Just out of curiosity, how many of the 32579(at time of posting) are still "active" accounts.

Also, anyone know what the resident vagabond Sicarius is up to? Always enjoyed his stories of his Robin Hood adventures.

I want to spend a good couple of points
I have recently ended up all my games without joining new ones to replace it, thus freeing up a lot of points. I would like to play a high-pot game (around 500) if possible with good players. Anyone up?

Mod Question
If a player is banned, does the total number of member on the site go down by 1 or, since the ID is still searchable, does he counttowards the number of players on the site?

Question about the rules:
If I develop schizophrenia or something, and get a split personality, am I allowed to have one account for each personality? Are there exemptions for that?

face2face Dip Tournament Dublin 4-6 March
http://leprecon.info/blog/
I've convinced the organisers to Leprecon to give me space for a diplomacy tournament! If anyone is in dublin, there will be an unspecified boardgame as the prize, it will cost €10 for the saturday or €15 for the weekend (lots of other games to play, but i'm hoping to get a proper multi-game tournament if i can get the numbers)

Netflix Suggestions Needed
My wife and I are rapidly diminishing our stock of good hour-long TV dramas to order on Netflix, and I would love to have some new ideas. Any help would be appreciated. We don't love gore. Please no vampire-related suggestions unless they are better than Buffy seasons 1-3.

Musical Chairs Variant
This is inspired by the "Mad Game", a board game that's kind of like monopoly, except the objective is to lose all your money and many of the squares on the board ask you to switch places with another player or trade assets with them.

I probably won't be starting any new ones for a bit. The maps that aren't classic kinda scare me though!

its really not bad haha i've played ancient med so much that i honestly dont remember any good tactics on the original europe map, i have a few world games going now that i just want to draw because im so sick of playing them...they take ages

World Diplomacy is annoying, and being a mod I can't keep away from having to look at it. Eugh.

I thought world would be so awesome, and I played one game of it, and it was so painful. I did well and was in on the 5 man draw at the end, but still.

I hate world dip and only played one ancient med. both are just too unbalanced with some nations having distinct advantages or disadvantages that just can't be countered.
SynalonEtuul (1050 D)

Really? Is it like that in Ancient Med?
Draugnar (0 DX)

i think so, but i've only played one game so YMMV.
LanGaidin (1509 D)

One variant I think that is pretty wild is the Fog of War. It truly changes things when you can't see half the map.

I've found Carthage to be almost universally awesome in Ancient Med, and Egypt has always been a speed bump.

I personally think Rome is by far the strongest in Ancient Med. Although, I've won as Carthage and drawn as Egypt. Just my opinion, I think Rome's ability to build 3 fleets in one build phase helps tremendously, whereas Greece (the only other ancient Med with that ability) has to devote more builds to armies because of Persia
Egypt can build three fleets as well, but when one of them is stuck fighting in the Darfur civil war and takes a year to get to open water it's not quite as awesome as you'd think.

I feel like Ancient Mediterranean is somewhat imbalanced but playable. Rome, Greece and Persia are all strong. Carthage seems pretty good (haven't played as Carthage though). Egypt is easily the worst, and unlike Italy in standard Diplomacy (widely seen as the worst) it lacks the ability to really be a wildcard in any proceedings.

i have played as evey place except egypt in ancient med and have played MANY games on that map. i personally think that with the right starting moves any place has an opening advantage over its neighbors. except for egypt, i only saw one game that egypt lived past year 5 and ended up winning except for the game that i just played with eden and lan who formed a stalemate line to stop my solo as rome when i was 1 point from the win(so frustrating when that happens). my favorite starting positions are carthage and persia but both of them can also be a deathtrap if you have agressive neighbors....i agree with eden tho egypt pretty much always sucks unless the neighbors play poorly.

i agree in the Ancient Mediterranean Egypt is way underpowered, but other than that it is fairly balance, the key is to control the seas, the only bad part is that any two people (not including Egypt) will people able to take over the map if they can hold an alliance between each other.
it also requires that you think two moves ahead since each person only borders two other people it allows strategy to play a bigger role in the game than diplomacy

WordPress
Does anyone here know how to use it? I'm looking to hire someone to create a page for a blog I'm starting. I'd also like to collect email addresses in exchange for downloads and also have a subscription service.

I know most of the programmers here are pretty busy as it is (programmers always are after all haha) but if there's anyone that would be interested in doing this for me please visit my profile and send me an email. It would all be paid work.
