sexism in diplomacy

I just noticed that the gamemaster assumes all players are males.
example "GameMaster: chelsea has withdrawn his vote for a pause"

I think this needs to be changed in the next update

Variant idea:

Throughout the game, your statements must either all be complete lies or complete truths. You choose one set at the beginning of the game and do not switch mid-game.

The challenge is to keep it a secret. This would mean there was almost no forwarding of orders.

I've thought of that as well. Just because the statements would be lies doesn't imply that you'll be doing the exact opposite. It would a challenge to attempt to decipher what aspect of the statement contains the lie. Or do you itend it to not really have subtleties, but be more blatant in the telling of lies?

No, I intended this as any player being able to say anything they want, as long as they are consistent about whether they lie or tell the truth. But I haven't copyrighted it or anything; if you like the idea you can do whatever you want with it.

The problem is that what you could do is set yourself to lie and then offer to support someone by saying "I will NOT let you into Munich ;-)" at which point it is obvious.

Yes, I know, so find some way to be subtle about it. I think people would mostly be saying things like "I may or may not let you into Munich", whether they will or will not.

So then everyone would pick honesty, because it allows for deception (assuming omission is not considered lying).

Maybe it could be a post-by-post basis. Every time you say something it is either all truths or all lies. No middle ground in statements, and no mixing of the two.

You see sometimes it isn't a lie if you say your going to do something but by saying that your leading them into a lie... meaning you technically didn't lie, you just didn't show your hand like they probually wanted you to do

Unoriginal Original Thoughts

Have you ever come up with a fantastic thought or idea, only to find out it's been done before? Tell us about it.

This just happened to me and I'd like to share my frustration. In addition, I'd like for us as a community to coin a succinct word for this phenomenon. Extra irony points if someone finds a word that already describes this.

Grammar

I personally can't stand bad grammar and spelling. I'm in a game right now where I am seriously contemplating stabbing the crap out of my ally solely because I don't want to have to read the horrible writing anymore. While the stab is, I think, a pretty good one and I'll have help from my other new allies, is my main reason for doing it ridiculous? Or are there people out there who agree with me?
