gunboat is when you don't talk AT ALL through out the game.

Post their name here so we know not to play honor games with them.

tell everyone else in the game and have them all take that person out, also post in the forum. obviously they can't be trusted to play by the honor system. posting in global in that situation is not a violation of the rules.

Additionally, I'd post in global asking for a draw, as the game has obviously been tainted.

true, but one way to get someone punished is to say it in global chat, so everybody gets mad at the 1 who is trying to make secret alliances, and kills them. That wold be effective. everybody gangs up on the one making secret alliances.

He knows that we're not supposed to talk because one guy tried to make some alliances during pre-game, and he didn't knwo what a gunboat is so we told him it meant not to talk and he shut up. So killer should know not to talk.

But how do you prove someone was trying to make a secret alliance? Perhaps, someone just posts that another player is making secret alliances just to get everyone else to either draw the game or to gang up on the other person.

ah good point. I don't think I can really prove it, I can copy and paste what he said, but thats easily editable.

It would be awfully stupid of AMP to lie about this. He's doing fine in the game and kestas can read the in-game messages.

I saw this topic and laughed, because it reminded me of something stupid I did recently.

If you get a private message in gunboat or global press only, FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T RESPOND IN KIND, especially if you forget that the message is illegal in the first place.

Ugh. I did that. I came clean on global in my global press only game, but I think my reputation is gonna take a small hit.

As Ghost said, if you want you can email me and I'll have a look on to back up your case, although as others say, you have too much to loose by lying.
Report it in global then I suggest you go for a draw, but its up to the players then. the issue would be that if you *didn't* go for a draw, in rejecting it some people would make a clear view as to how they thought things were going.

Well I brought it up on global and looks like people want to change it to a global press game and killer already said he was sorry and he wont do it again. No need to prove it like that I guess. But I did send a screenshot to mastergamer

Shouldn't we add varient rules to the FAQ page? That way when newbies come on here and play theyll know the difference between gunboats, public press, etc. etc.

And I agree, Instead of just PPSC we should have other varients. The ones I can list off the top of my head are also Gunboat and Global Press.

I don't like the idea of the site enforcing no press. For one thing, it doesn't prevent people from communicating outside the site (IM, email, etc) also it prevents legitimate communication (requesting a pause). Personally, I'd like to see Gunboat games continue on the honor system.

If Kestas makes the varients into the site, he can put in buttons for draws and pauses instead of a chat box right? and then on the side or somthing it could say something like "1 person has voted for a draw/pause, do you also want to pause?" and they can provide a reason for the draw/pause.

Basically, the idea is to add another box to fill out when you start a game, rather like this forum message box. In that you would be able to write a message about your game (such as declaring varient rules being applied) and this information would be shown to players looking to join the game

These will with time get implemented, but with only Kestas and figle able and willing to develop, and only developing as a hobby, progress is inevitably slow.

amonkeyperson - you made that comment some time ago. If you would like to contribute yourself this would be appreciated. Saying that, I will acknowledge that at the moment there's a bit of a development pause. Kestas is just finishing off an upgrade, and there isn't much else that can be done until that's released. However, we just don't know how long that will take to finish off, as most of it is just little debugging code. However, from what I know, it will be a real improvement for the UI

Fig, when you and kestas get to developing on the nest round, I may have some time freed up. My PHP is a bit rusty (been doing ASP.Net in C# for quite a while now), but I'm sure it'll come back to me and I'll be happy to help out.
