They never paused, even though I told them I was going out of town. None of THEM missed their build phases, and most of the people who refused to pause had room to benefit. I think this is... inappropriate.

50% up game?
I was thinking about looking for interest in a game where everyone who joins will have a win/draw rate of 50% and over. This game could be a WTA or PPSC and probably be about 100 point buy in or so) and 24 hours?.
If you are 50% and over win/draw post here (if you want to play).

I just want to say, for the benefit of new players, that eventually you will get to play those huge point games. Also, they are just as great as you would expect them to be. The competition is rough and it takes every bit of skill to win.

no i get it. build computers and write my own software code. whats even worse though would be to give your enemy windows 7 or give them Linux if they don't know anything about programming.
Toby Bartels (361 D)

You can give your friends Ubuntu Linux (or any of several other user-friendly Linux distros). Depending on what hardware they have, you may have to help them get it set up, and you should probably install Medibuntu too (which can't come with the regular distro due to copyright problems). But once it's running, they can use it as easily as Windows or Mac.

p.s. linux is for amateurs

i use Fedora which is one of the slightly more advanced distros but the point of me saying give them linux was most people dont know how to install java and other plugins into browsers because it s not the same as in windows

other versions of linux i think i spelled it wrong
Toby Bartels (361 D)

@WhiteSammy: ‘distro’ = ‘distribution’

Example Linux distros: Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Suse, etc.

it means it's harder to get it work
saffordpc (163 D)

the way the extra packets and install utilities are harder to use because you actually have to manually install them get much more control of the system which is nice it just harder for people who haven't seen it before to get used to it. you also can modify the source code and change the way the os runs which you cant do in a lot of the other distros. though that is something i would not recommend doing unless you know exactly what you are doing all i have done with is modify some of the interfaces.
WhiteSammy (100 D)

well IE 8 looks a lot boxier than 7
davatk (264 D)
22 Mar 09 UTC
@alamothe: that's what I would have thought if he had said Slackware or Gentoo or something. But Fedora...

@saffordpc: you can do that in pretty much every distro. Regarding "packet" management: RPM is one of the most popular systems for package management, so I'm not sure how you can claim that it makes Fedora more advanced.
saffordpc (163 D)
22 Mar 09 UTC
i have played with ubuntu and some of the other distros, from what i have seen with them ubuntu is one of the most windows like distros. its the easiest to use(well at least in my opinion). while fedora is designed for those who actually know what they are doing not those who are just starting out with windows.( by advanced i simply meant that they could do more with the os if you knew what you were doing). when i was refering to packets i wasn't referring to the standerd packets you can with any version of linux i was more referring to java packets and other similar packets which are not installed with the same tool do to 3rd party license agreements. i apologize i did not make that very clear in my previous post. yes the RPM is easy to use for installing any extra packets that can come with linux or any non licensed products.

also this may be of slight relevance of the versions of ubuntu and fedora i only have fedore core 6 installed on my chine and if im not mistaken i believe they are ten now so there may be sum significant changes between the two versions while the version of ubuntu i am running is 7.0 which is rather recent in comparison.

I'm a firefox guy myself....
And Personally, sometimes I get fed up with Red Hat, and Ubuntu is a pleasant break... you don't have to do anything and it just works! how refreshing!
I still use Fedora on a regular basis though....
