WebDiplomacy Survivor - Final Tribal Council
35 days ago, 21 castaways begun their journey in the webDiplomacy version of the famous reality game show. Now, only three - Balki Bartokomous, DemonOverlord, Fluminator - remain, and all have fought tooth and nail to make it this far.

The final victor will be decided by eleven of the players they voted out, and this is their opportunity to sway votes their way. Welcome to Final Tribal.

I'll be circumspect about the description, for obvious reasons (game's ongoing, in case it wasn't sufficiently obvious). See below.

Autocomplete public press
Basically the idea is to provide you with a centre so we can work together. The only press is public commitment to attack Italy. Every sentence may be in Gascony and the other games. The rest is autocompleted to find out what kind of player is required.

Survey - Diplomacy boardgame
I was just wondering... 100 % of us play on webDiplomacy.net. But how many of us have the boardgame, with the wooden blocks for the armies and boats... ?

Mine has metal counters ;-( would prefer wooden ones.

I have the boardgame, but not one that has wooden blocks... Mine has tin cannons as armies, tin ships as fleets, and little flag markers to identify who controls a supply center.

Metal or other counters can be considered in the "boardgame"... I just didn't know it was existing... Do you have an internet link to that version ?

I have the stars and anchors bookcase version, which is worse than the wooden blocks but definitely better than cardboard armies and fleets.

But I don't know a single person IRL who plays diplomacy, so I don't think I've ever used it! 100% of my gameplay is online... Is face-to-face better, or just different??

I started playing for a couple years only doing the boardgame version as there was a group of ~10 of us who loved to play. We moved to the online version later. I prefer the boardgame, it's just a lot of fun and you can read people's reactions more in person. Only downside is you need to have something for the others who get out early to do otherwise it becomes a distraction to finishing the game. The games usually got called before all 18 scs were captured when it seemed obvious who was going to win. Highly recommend trying boardgame version

The board game has some extra dynamics (keeping a straight face, reading other people's, see who's talking, etc) but is tougher to organise because you need several hours at a stretch.

I bought my set partly on the principle of paying the copyright owner. I have never played with it but I have GM'ed several times for a group of my son's friends.

I got the board game when I was in eighth grade. At the time my friends and I were really into "war strategy" type stuff, so we cared much more naming our alliances, and the board and pieces than the actual gameplay. I even got my mom (my Mom is the best) to make copies of the map and laminate them so that when we went and negotiated we could draw our plans on the maps with dry erase markers.

The thread regarding trump leaving the Paris accords. Could be viewed very much as a slighted innuendo of Trumps past. He has been accused of some sketchy things. Discuss.

Rap and Hip Hop promote better capitalist values than Country or Rock
Rims, Gold Chains, Fancy Cars, Implants, Gold Teeth, Swimming Pools, Palm Trees, Mansions, "Ive made it culture", "Look at me". Are values pure to American capitalism and more purely espouse what America is.

Theory about ending homelessness/panhandling
Would homelessness end entirely if people stopped giving homeless money? The Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska has advised citizens to stop giving panhandlers money as they are on the rise. Here they wait by the interstate exit off ramps with signs.is ignoring them a moral decision?
