WebDiplomacy Survivor - Final Tribal Council
35 days ago, 21 castaways begun their journey in the webDiplomacy version of the famous reality game show. Now, only three - Balki Bartokomous, DemonOverlord, Fluminator - remain, and all have fought tooth and nail to make it this far.

The final victor will be decided by eleven of the players they voted out, and this is their opportunity to sway votes their way. Welcome to Final Tribal.

Supporting others against your own unit
I'll be circumspect about the description, for obvious reasons (game's ongoing, in case it wasn't sufficiently obvious). See below.

Autocomplete public press
Basically the idea is to provide you with a centre so we can work together. The only press is public commitment to attack Italy. Every sentence may be in Gascony and the other games. The rest is autocompleted to find out what kind of player is required.

"Trump pulls out" thread innuendo masked as title
The thread regarding trump leaving the Paris accords. Could be viewed very much as a slighted innuendo of Trumps past. He has been accused of some sketchy things. Discuss.

Rap and Hip Hop promote better capitalist values than Country or Rock
Rims, Gold Chains, Fancy Cars, Implants, Gold Teeth, Swimming Pools, Palm Trees, Mansions, "Ive made it culture", "Look at me". Are values pure to American capitalism and more purely espouse what America is.

Theory about ending homelessness/panhandling
Would homelessness end entirely if people stopped giving homeless money? The Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska has advised citizens to stop giving panhandlers money as they are on the rise. Here they wait by the interstate exit off ramps with signs.is ignoring them a moral decision?

But reading this makes me think.

With a 'completely free' press the people with the most money can say whatever they want.

Meanwhile in a place like the UK strict libel laws prevent publishing items which could be challenged in court - thus whoever has the money can stop things being published.

Which is idealer?

In the first case, you talk about "whatever they want" and in the second case, you talk about "things". Can whoever has the money stop whatever they want from publishing, or is this distinction that I'm perceiving real? I think it's relevant beyond semantics.

Lol. Sort of like Neville Chamberlain wanted to just wanted to get along.

Sure, stop invading your neighbors and destabilizing them and interfering in foreign elections and supporting war criminals abroad, and that'd go a long way toward "getting along"
orathaic (1009 D(B))

No, in the second case, you have an onus placed on you to prove the truth of what you have published.

This means that in the UK newspapers are limited to telling the truth (at least about wealthy people, who would threaten to sue). This is a considerable limitation on freedom of speech.

But then so are the anti-hate speech laws in the UK.

How and Ever, in the free case, nobody knows what to believe, so you may aswell have no press at all. Except when it is effective at manipulating people...
Ogion (3817 D)

Keep in mind that libel only protects against lies about people basically. So, strict anti-defamation laws don't help against rich people publishing any other kind of crap for example on climate change. Also, there is a worry that political parties can use those suits to squash dissent
