Yeah, I can see how this is a problem, but I have a solution. St. is also the abbreviation for Street, Store, State, Stitch ans Stone (as in weight). We can each choose how we wish to vocalize it, whilst all continuing to write it as St. Petersburg. No one need ever be offended.

Anyway Chaqua, St Petersburg is not actually named after St Peter of Pearly Gates fame, the well known Christian and mysogynist. I think you'll find it's named after Peter the Great, a Russian leader chap.

Well as of 1900, it was named St Petersburg. So St Petersburg is the correct name for it, so there is no need to change it. You shouldn't change it just for people who get butthurt about the word "saint" being in it. Appeasement never works.
