In that context it's less crazy I guess: it's all about being able to develop yourself and enjoy what others created.

I think it's really just that both culture and science have a lot to do with education, though. There's your connection. Students get discounts on lots of cultural activities for instance, and cultural instances all want to introduce youngsters to culture, and schools want to teach students things about culture..

The connection between education and science should be obvious.

People usually just call it the minister of Education though, so that's the main thing I assume.

The really interesting thing is how many politicians have any scientific or technical training. I can think of 1 MP who was really good on Climategate. Incidentally, Stringer was the only scientist on the House of Commons science and technology commitee. He was also the only member of the commitee who did not go along with the whitewash report producing a minority report all by himself. Thumbs up
