Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
I can usually consistently read ghug, based on how often I agree with his reads lol. I'll need more time for him, but I don't really want to lynch him yet.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
@Tom, are you defending Ezio here? Do you really think the smaller size will impact how anyone plays? Have you adjusted your play because of that?Tom Bombadil wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 3:25 pmFoxy, have you considered the smaller game size could impact the tendencies of Ezio or others?Foxcastle wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 3:13 pmMy take on Ezio is less nuanced than Balki's and basically comes down to: this is a different Ezio than we usually see. If he's town, why is he putting in effort that he hasn't put in in his previous games. If he's scum, why is he taking a risk at standing out with an plan that's uncharacteristic for him?

OK, I'll keep that in mind. I can't read ghug usually, but I had this epiphany this morning when I woke up.Vecna wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 9:32 pm
I dont mean proper in how he addresses people. He's still a badmouthing brontodon regardless of alignment. Its just how he writes his posts, how much effort he puts in details, and most importantly, how much it makes me think "damn, that is one motherfucking towny sounding post".
Everytime im townreading Ghug for reasons like that, he is scum. I even said it last game in my very first read of him. Something like "ghug is sounding very towny, he probably will end up being scum". I dont have that feeling here yet.

I'm not seeing scum in him yet. His reaction to your vote wasn't great but other than that I've been following his logic.

I did not say you scum read me for low activity, I said you placed a "pressure" vote on me for low activity.Squigs44 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 8:57 pmThis is a misrepresentation of my push on you. It's not your low activity I find scummy, it's your lack of engagement this game. You are posting without interacting. You have made multiple posts saying I'm not going to post about that. A certain Ron Swanson quote comes to mind:bozotheclown wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 8:43 pmSquigs: Placed an easy "pressure" vote for low activity and no lynch suggestion. Falling back on me being scum in M40 as an argument.
"When given the option of doing something or nothing, I generally choose to do nothing, unless it is to help someone else do nothing. I would work all night if it meant nothing got done."
I also find it interesting that I am the one making the easy vote, when your only two scum reads are the top two scumread people in the game.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
I was scum with Balki in that game, be prepared to do a lot of reading.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Just finished glancing through M34 D1. The Balki of M34 and the Balki of our game have had a different feel to them. Our Balki feels more refined.
Whether that is just a stylistic change over time, or what have you. There is little in the back catalogue that I can point to, to say that his lawyer mode seems to be linked to his scum game.

I think Balki is pretty lawerly no matter what. Maybe he leans on that more as scum, but he was pretty lawerly in his last game as town.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Very little vote changing going on. Id be sad if we loose squigs here.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Sort of defending Ezio I guess. It was more to see what Foxys thought process was like. I have no read on Ezio currently. But yes, I do believe a smaller game will impact how people play. Ezio for example is known to coast in early game in big games because he wants to save energy for late game. With a smaller game you can’t really do that - since the it’s equivalent time wise to starting in the middle of a bigger game. I do think this would effect Ezios play and thus his more active approach is NAI rather than scum indicative.xorxes wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 9:34 pm@Tom, are you defending Ezio here? I’ve played on a scum team with Balki and noticed basically no difference in his play style as either alignment, for what it’s worrh

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
ND has so far thrown a bunch of shade, and voted Squiggs when his wagon was getting pretty big. The closer to deadline it's getting and the more likely squiggs will get lynched, the more confident he seems to be getting on his vote.
This seems like lazy scum to me.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Yes, I know....but here he is very much in the mode of "Let me take that post of yours, and use your words against you". Right from the get-go. It might mean nothing though, but it felt a little bit show-off'ish, and maybe not completely based on a natural thought process.

Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Yeah, but is ND usually lazy scum? He’s usually manic scum
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
For myself, I couldn't really find a way to use Balki's lawyerness to discern much. I look for other things, though.
Re: Mafia Invitational - Welcome to Wakanda
Very brave of Squigs to post a full reads list this early, given that he was caught as scum for doing just that. This one is OK. Townie points.Squigs44 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 6:27 pmSo I am restricted in who I can vote/throw shade at? Shouldn't we be looking at everyone as potential scum, especially on day 1?Tom Bombadil wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 6:08 pmYou’ve opened up many avenues to vote many different people without it seemingly coming from nowhere.
I'll try and be more transparent with my actual reads then, although these are pretty weak right now.
1. Balki Bartokomous - slight town. He hasn't been as prolific a scum hunter as I was expecting, but his tone and pushes seem consistent with what little meta I have of him.
2. bozotheclown - scummy. His play has been extremely disappointing. I've said before that I don't like his avoidance of reading anyone and lot posting. It mirrors M40 when he was scum.
3. Damian - null. He got off to a really bad start, but as votes and pressure mounted, he actually seems to have gotten better. Recently he has one or two posts I really like where he has shown original ideas that push back on others arguments. I think one of them was about Ezio.
4. Ezio - slight town. he's had some red flags, but his posting style seems more consistent with his town play. He's been more vocal and loose I think.
5. Fluminator - slight scum. I feel like he is coasting and trying to avoid conflict.
6. FoxCastle - slight scum. I think he is playing scared.
7. ghug - why do I have to play with ghug? He is impossible to read and always scumreads me.
8. ND - slight town. his play is also hard to tell, but his pushes haven't been tunneling or obvious pushes like I would expect scum ND to make
9. rdrivera2005 - slight scum. I'm usually more impressed with his play this far in the game. He has been less detailed than usual.
10. Squigs44 - town
11. Tom Bombadil - probably town. His play has been consistent, and the way he has been pushing me seems genuine
12. Vecna - probably town. Venca is "town bursting" where he comments on a burst of posts. Can't find anything wrong with those posts
13. xorxes - town. His playstyle seems more comfortable.

Can you give me a game where he was manic scum so I can skim through it?
